In an earlier post about the benefits of fish oil I stated that in one third of cases sudden death was the first (and only) symptom of heart disease.
It turns out that Thomas Herrion, the rookie offensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers, experienced just such a symptom. Mr. Herrion collapsed and died after a preseason game at Denver on August 20. At autopsy he was found to have serious arteriosclerosis with almost complete blockage of one of his coronary arteries.
My heart and sympathies go out to his family.
