I was here a while ago, and I admit that I have failed miserably in my diet. Seeing pictures of me this weekend has me in total disgust, and I am determined to start eating right again.
For those that don't remember me, my name is Kimberly and I'm from Northern California. I have 3 children, who I homeschool. I cook a lot of low-carb things, but then eat things that aren't lowcarb thereby destroying the process.
ETA: Along with low-carb, my family is also on the Feingold program. Splenda is out because of this (although I do cheat on this occasionally). A lot of all the processed lowcarb stuff is out too.

Hello Kimberley, welcome back. One of the things I like about the way the Eadeses present their plans is that it's up to you what you eat as long as you keep the carbs down and get enough protein. I tried splenda a couple of times, but just didn't like it, and most of the processed low-carb stuff didn't make it as far as the UK, so that was never an option. If you can work out a collection of suitable menus that your family enjoys, you'll be much better set for the long term, and they'll learn healthy eating patterns too.
Hope we'll here lots more from you :).

Hey, Kimberly, welcome back!
Along with low-carb, my family is also on the Feingold program. Splenda is out because of this (although I do cheat on this occasionally). A lot of all the processed lowcarb stuff is out too.
I noticed you also mention in your journal that this is especially hard(er) for you because while your family can eat what YOU eat, you can't eat a lot of what they eat. If I understand Feingold's program correctly, it's all about elimination of artifical colors and flavorings and processed things from the diet, in order to eliminate/isolate sensitivities. So why not as a family adopt a plan to eat mainly whole foods prepped at home, and only those minimally processed things that meet BOTH Protein Power and Feingold's guidelines--and be done with the discussion? Your meals can ALL include protein, low carb vegetables (greens, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, tomatoes, onion family), low carb fruits (melons, berries, small amounts of citrus and stone fruits), nuts and seeds, and everyone will be eating the same meals. Easier for you, healthier for everyone. Would that work?
I know that Feingold says somewhere that they don't eliminate junk food, just encourage reduced consumption of it, but truth be told, if you're going to find artificial flavors and colors and salicylates, it's gonna be in junk food--not in proteins, fresh or frozen veggies, fresh or frozen unsweetened fruits, nuts and seeds.
Hope this helps!
