"Maturity is achieved when a person postpones immediate pleasures
for long-term values."

*Joshua L. Liebman

Love the thoughts this congers behind this quote. Maturity on this program I do believe is accepting it as a life change, of not being tied to scale to see if you have dropped a magical pound or two. It is more about everyday getting in the protein, the fiber, reducing the carbs, exercising and doing the best you can that day, the rest very simply will take care of itself. It is about, as Lynn was asking the other day, about making the commitement for the long haul and once doing that being able to walk away from the empty carbs that seem so attractive in the short term.

Several new visitors to the board and more keep coming it each day once you can view the program as a healthy lifestyle it seems the happier you become. To all of you welcome here, short timers or long timers!

Have a great day!

It took me 51 years to finally mature!

We're developing that mindset more and more - wish it hadn't taken so long (and so many financial {and other} woes along the way)

Keep telling me that, Billie. I'm not good with delayed gratification in general. I hate playiing games with myself, though, and the thought of "rising above" the pitfalls is freeing.

I read a good thought in the DesMasions newsletter today about recognizing when hunger is merely beta-endorphins screaming for a hit. I know it, but it's reinforcement. There are other things to do with that than eat.

Oddly, I just heard that same statement being made this morning in the context of having a great marriage. That maturity thing is sort of useful!

That was not me this weekend with a wedding and two graduation parties. I need to rethink my committment and restart. This is a very good quote to help with that. Thanks
