Looking back on my eating habits over the last week there have been certain days where I was way too low on my protein levels. I was hoping you guys could recommend your best protein bar (http://www.enutriments.com/protein/bars) to me. It would be nice if it had a good amount of carbs too, because I could use a boost throughout the day. Any suggestions?

My recommendation would be to make your own and not eat the commercially made bars. We have recipes that contain nuts and coconut and seeds and acceptable fats. An ounce or so of nuts like almonds or seeds like sunflower are also a great snack.

Eating low-carb is to train your body to get energy from ketones produced by burning fat and protein. It will possibly take a couple of weeks to get into that mode. Eating carbs for energy will prevent you from making the jump. Also the sugar alcohols in the commercial protein bars can stall weight loss.

Have you read Dr. Eades books or his blogs?

Thanks for the advice! Looks like I need to rethink the way I eat and exercise. My schedule is just so hectic, thats why I was looking for something that's good when im on-the-go (which is like always).

No I have not read his books, but I'm looking at his blog now.

Finding the basics in the blogs really needs a search, so feel free to ask questions. The concept is more protein and good fat and fewer carbohydrates. Exercise is fine, although if you're a cardio fan, you can think about adding resistance along with it.

I am an indifferent cook and when I have tried to make the protein bars from the recipies on this forum, they don't turn out well. So I rely on commercial bars. I look for a bar that has less than 10 grams of carb, some fiber to offset those carbs, and at least 20 grams of protein. Sometimes I have to take a magnifying glass along to read ingredients, but when I find a bar that meets my criteria and suits my tastes, I tend to buy those. We all have different tastes. I go for the peanut butter flavored bars.
