"Before you believe in yourself, you have to believe yourself".
Meditations for Women

I guess you can't be kidding yourself into thinking you are working hard on the program, if you are not. I guess as well you have to believe that you have the power to do it, to change your pattern of life that got you where you are.

Before we can take an action step we have to believe in our abilities to do it. We all have been there a million times, starting it and not finishing, but maybe the difference of those who have succeeded and those who have not is that they believed in themselves.

Believing in yourself, what a power trip!

Have a great day!

Billie - You're reading my mind again, aren't you :p? As always, you speak right to the heart of the matter. Great words for the day - thank you :D!

Billie, this has made me think that I really must thank my father for always encouraging me to believe that I could be or do anything that I want to. Of course, I'm not totally delusional - I wouldn't be an olympic athlete or a world class opera singer, no matter how hard I tried, but I do believe I can have a good go at most things. I rarely set out thinking something will be beyond me, and that's a great gift to give someone at the start of their life.

I remember when self-help books said you should look in the mirror and tell yourself you're beautiful etc. and that would make you would feel better about yourself.

Well, since I'm not delusional, of course I couldn't lie to myself in the mirror. Perhaps it works for con-men, but I had to feel it BEFORE I could say it!

shadow we must be breathing the same western air--what little of it there is!

Mitra, thank goodness for your father. Mine was the same way, very adamant his daughters could do anything they chose to do. He has been dead for quite a long time now but gosh what lessons I learned about doing and believing from him.

Diedre, you know that mirror trick really isn't all it's cracked up to be I agree, But your feeling it before you see it as so much about that self acceptance thing. Good for you!

Ya just gotta believe!
