I'm not sure we need a new thread all the more activity I've been seeing  but hope springs eternal ;).

Let's get some M&S done this week - and then actually coming to report it !

I'm in! New LC news, a Big Green Egg for an early birthday present. The wings and pork butt (pulled of course) were terrific. Probably the wrong thread but hey, you know where my heart is :)
In my absence we adopted a dog to be a friend for Buddy. Buddy and Molly would be bragging everyday, alas we've discussed, no thumbs, poor typing skills, (although Molly is very interested in the MacBook.) Molly cracks a whip, something like Shadow.
Weather has been beastly, probably everywhere. Walking the dogs is still the primary m & s activity, depending how late I arrive for work. Parking is more remote the later I am, although I'm never late, some days, parking fills fast. :)
PS, I thought I could sneak back in at some point without being quite so exposed, but the numbers in our ranks seem to be going the wrong way, so I'll take it, whatever, it is. Anyone using a wii for resistance? Is resistance even available?

Hey Martha!! Long time no see. So Buddy has a new friend, that's great!

Well here's how my week shaped up (pardon the pun :))

Monday was rest, Tuesday was lower body, Wednesday I was supposed to ride but had a bit of heat stroke when I got home from work so ended up just going to bed at 4 pm. :o Thursday I was still pretty nauseous from Wednesday so didn't do much, so today I rode to work and stopped at the gym on the way home for an upper body workout. Tomorrow we have to go to a memorial for DH's grandmother but I should have time for a bike ride before we go. Sunday is gym time with DS.

MARTHA :D!!!!!!!! I've been wondering where you had gotten to - you were missed, girl!!! And of course, we missed Buddy, too!

You can chat about anything you want to !

Welcome to the family, Molly - we're so happy to have you here, too !!!!

Well at least SOMEONE would check in if they could !

Great thing you have those dogs to keep you moving ;)!

Believe me, Martha, even if our numbers were a lot higher we would've noticed you . As for Wii, I've only heard of cardio-type activities but I am FAR from being a techie :p!

OMW - I am so sorry about the heat stroke, Jilly, and am so thankful it wasn't not too severe! Kudos to you for giving yourself time to get over it before jumping back into the fray !!! Please take care - one close call is more than enough, I would think  ;)!

Having had a few decent sleeps during a welcome respite from humidity, it is apparently going to get hot and sticky again  I will do what I can, but don't feel that there is any point in fighting the weather, when it makes me feel wretched.

I walked up the road to the hairdresser yesterday, and it was obvious that I hadn't been walking for a while - decidedly stiff on the way up there, although a tad better on the way back.

You're right - there's not point in it, NW :). Part of fitness is knowing our limitations and doing what we can with what we have ;). Just do what your body allows - we can't change Mother Nature, even though we'd sure like to :p.

It's sad how quickly it goes - but that also serves as a great reminder that we don't want to let all our efforts slip totally away :slywink:.

Met DS at the gym this morning, we took an abs, butt, thighs class. I left a bit late from home and was riding my bike so I had to ride pretty hard, I was definitely warmed up when I arrived! :D I've been trying to ride a bit harder in general lately, I need to be ready for my charity ride in Sept. It seems like lots of time but it will fly by I'm sure.

I also really need to ride to work more than once a week... :o It's tough some days, when I have stuff going on in the evening, because it adds an extra 70 minutes or so to my work day commute. My goal is to consistently ride two days a week. I think Tuesday and Thursday would be best as I have nothing scheduled for those evenings. (yet, I may join another group that rides on Thursdays)

Would joining the Thursday group count as one of the days? Then you would still only need to add all the extra effort on Tuesdays ;).

I spy a stranger! Hi Monty :)

I must be mad. It is as hot and humid as ever again, and not only did I have to go to a business meeting, I chose to do some clothes shopping with my DS2 as we were somewhere suitable. Anyway I walked for about 10 minutes to the tram stop, a fair bit whilst shopping, and about 6 or 7 minutes from the bus stop to home. I thought I was moving OK, although rather slowly because of the heat. Clearly there is still plenty of life in this old bird :D:D

Squats today. I didn't do any last week because my knees were stiff, but I'm now thinking that the stiffness came from lack of usual exercise. I walked a lot and sat a lot. Should have done the squats.

Hi NW and all.
Shadow my love, tomorrow I may be able to begin rehab with a decent workout. Lord knows I need it. :(
The coughing has subsided and the appetite for bread has increased. Bread and very little exercise has always been my downfall. So back to the subjugation(?) of the Shadow and the whip
See you all tomorrow :)

Oh my - it definitely sounds like it's time you join us for a while ! Nothing like those bread cravings, huh ? But despite the reason, I'll be so happy to see you active here again !

I am having a slow day today, although I am waiting for a shopping delivery so there will be the lifting, carrying and putting away to do. Yesterday took a lot more out of me, both emotionally and physically, than I thought. The weather has cooled a tad and freshened quite a bit, so if it continues that way I should be able to try and get back to normal again tomorrow.

Shadow,
I will get back to exercise in the future for sure.

As I have posted on weekly challenges, my MIL is terminal, on Hospice.
Hospice nurse thinks she may be leaving us before the weekend.
I am glad she is not in pain, being kept comfortable.

I am having a slow day today Needle- just do what you can even if it is at 1/4 speed.... with Karole awol, the old shadow nemesis crew doesn't stand a chance without a stronger effort from us even if it isn't very impressive. That's how I'm approaching my rehab now ..... doing a full routine @ 1/4 speed- amazing how comfortable just a bit of movement can be without strain.
Dearest Shadow, today was a full wo as was yesterday but with very little intensity--- feels good to go thru the motions of the real thing.
Claudette- my thoughts are with all of you.

Well, gang, here we are close to the end of another week. Rather than confuse anyone over threads, whoever gets here first on Sunday can start next week's new thread. I will make it a sticky when I get here.

Carol - Hope both procedures went well this week! Have a relaxing, enjoyable weekend and then hopefully next week you can get back into the swing of things :).

Monty - Keep on keeping on, my dear, and don't forget I'm watching you and waiting for those daily check-ins !

Martha (and Buddy and Molly too!) - Hopefully the dogs are keeping you stepping down there! But we'd love to hear from you and know how it's going ;)!

Claudette - My thoughts remain with you and your family. Hope all is as good as can be under the circumstances!

NW - Hopefully you are feeling better and getting some relief from the heat so you can ease back into that routine !

Jilly - I know you're out there pedaling like crazy as well as hitting the gym so I will just say "well done" and hope to hear from you soon :D!

So far, no new extra, but yep, the dogs keep me honest and work parking keeps me moving. The Wii answer is yes there is an option with bands. The reviews are mixed but I think it looks promising.

So, day 1 my new wii, wii fit plus. It's harder than it looks I worked at it about an hour and a half. BTW my trainer is tough, but that's ok. Shadow put me in good shape for it. I've dropped loud hints about getting the resistance band package for my birthday, but this is great! So far, my favorite is hula hoop and 2nd is step 3rd is boxing. For fun there is bicycling only the pedaling is weight bearing, so not great for real cycling but still a kick and I was drenched when I finished. (I may have overdone, just a little) So it has strength training as well as balance games, the resort sports and sports. Posture is huge, so I'm really hoping that will become better.

So, my plan is every day alternating upper and lower body, until I get my bands. I know I may have to cut back, but I heard your trainer fusses at you if you don't do it everyday ;)
Oh, one other thing, it weighs you everyday, for those sharing households weight and goofy BMI are password protected. Pretty accurately from what I can see.
I know it's late but my steak is on the new biggreenegg...it just doesn't get much better :D

Thanks, Shadow. I have decided that there is no point in stressing over the weather. I can't change it and it won't last for ever. Just got to get through it as best I can. I know I'm in better shape than I was this time last year, and hopefully I won't go too far backwards until I can get back into exercising properly.
