I certainly hope since no one has been on either exercise thread since Friday that that either means you're all out there moving and shaking like crazy or that you all suddenly went on vacation and just forgot to tell me  :suspicious: :paranoid:.
Let's get some action going, gang. Things have been pretty quiet here lately....

Well, we can't have you getting lonely ;). I was down to minimal exercise last week, because my back was being a bit iffy, but I seem to have avoided a major breakdown, so I hope to be back to "normal" this week. I really need to be able to carry my bag when I go on holiday, so I have plenty of motivation to see how much I can stabilise it over the next month.

Sad to report no exercise is taking place as I have succumbed to some sort of lurgy. I'm finding it hard to stay sitting upright, but cannot lie down upstairs as I'd boil. My throat is very sore, especially first thing, and I'm kinda woozy.

Neither, Shadow dear! We've had the grandson this weekend, which means his father's been on my computer a lot. I have been working on squats, but only around six a day. :) It will get better tomorrow!

Way to go taking care !!!! Hopefully normal will happen but at least semi-normal beats a back out of whack ;).

Thank you. It isn't fun at all - I'm struggling to swallow much of the time.
Thank goodness there is tennis to watch, because I'm not really one to do nothing, and yet I know that if I tried to sew or do anything else that mattered, I would make silly mistakes and spoil something :eek:

Sounds like a great deal all the way around ! FWIW, I find push ups to be very problematic with my shoulder problems (along with military presses). I have to be very careful of angle, speed, etc . So just keep listening to your body :)!

FWIW, I find push ups to be very problematic with my shoulder problems...My doc mentioned they were highly overrated as exercise.
A nice upper body workout tonight finished up with about 17 mins on the arc trainer and including a couple of short HIIT just because I haven't done any in a while and I've got to get back into it.

I didn't quite manage normal yesterday. Anything too asymmetrical that twists my pelvis is still uncomfortable. Squats are OK though .

I'll have to cross both London and Paris on public transport, so I need to be able to carry my bag. It's also a major incentive to travel light.

My doctor suggested that even with my handbag (which is NOT light) and I have much less strain on my back. Also a free hand if I need it.

What about one of those suitcases or bags with wheels, where the handle slides down for those bits of the journey where you have to pick it up?
I have a miniature, collapsible trolley (like a sack truck when ready for use) that pre-dates inbuilt wheels. I find it invaluable when shopping by bus.

It does have that option, but it also has straps that allow you to carry it on your back, like a back-pack, and I find that's the best option for my back. If it's not for long, you can just slip one of them on, and only use both for longer walks. The shoulder strap is detachable, so it's a good idea to make sure I take it to give myself the choice, and not to have to do any one position for too long. For my handbag, I found that carrying it with the strap across my body was better than hanging over one shoulder, but still not great for my neck if I do it too much, so I stopped carrying one - easier in the winter when you wear more clothes, so have plenty of pockets.

I'd rather avoid wheels if possible, because they just make it heavier for the times when you do need to carry it. The bags with wheels that I've tried have been OK-ish on smooth surfaces, like in an airport, but not really up to dealing with uneven pavements. Part of my aversion to wheels is probably because if you're flying, you're limited to a certain size as well as weight, and wheels use up part of the allowance that I'd rather save for other things, so maybe I need to think a bit more about what will really work best for train journeys. We already have both kinds of bag, so I don't need to decide until the last minute.
For shopping, I use the home delivery option :D.
I suppose I'd better go and do some exercise :).

Well, since I've had back issues for two weeks, I know just where you're at :(. Actually, squats make my back ache at this point - and my body was mighty vocal in telling me about it this morning . Wall squats with a ball are okay - the rest not so. Not that it broke my heart or anything  :p! But seriously, I'm glad you didn't push the issue !

Today the squats were a bit iffy (felt a bit tender in the SI area, and some referred stuff going on down the front of my thighs), and the asymmetric stuff not so bad . Oh well, I suppose I just need to pay attention, be adaptable, and do what I can.

So do I, as it is free from Sainsbury's midweek if you spend a small fortune, and with 4 adults that is achievable every 2-3 weeks :lol: I prefer to pick for myself but as I can no longer drive sometimes delivery is better. Is it Waitrose where you can DIY and they deliver? I wish we had one near by.
Monty - I don't know where Karole is. Probably off trail riding, whatever that is.

Yes, it's Waitrose that's our nearest supermarket, and they let you pick it yourself, then leave it for them to deliver. You can order online, but I usually prefer to go myself, as it's not far, and it avoids ending up with things missing, or substitutions that weren't what you would have picked. They once offered me low fat Greek yoghurt .

I'm winding up a 4 week battle w bronchial issues, however, back to some HIIT and ubwouts and much focus on LBWOuts as this may be the key to belly reduction (no more 6wcure for me).
I may have to visit my friends here more often as numbers seem to be dwindling and my lovely one got herself injured- she needs my part time support (and I do miss all my friends, even tho I sneak in to see what is going on) :D

Upper body at the gym tonight, which went well. Fifteen minutes on the arc trainer with three HIIT spells of roughly 25-30 sec each. It's supposed to keep the blood vessels supple. I also found out that squats are easier after the arc trainer. I did a couple of dozen during the day, including six quick ones at the end of my workout when my knees were warmed up. Hmmm!
I was doing some reading today and several sources say that their knees improved with squats. I feel like I'm on to something.
