For those who are struggling to convince themselves that resistance exercise is actually a good thing ;), you might want to check out this article (http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/magazine/lclnewsvol07-no6-pg1.html) on the importance of strength training :).

Great article Shadow.

I definitely agree with the point ...

"1. Do vary your workouts."
I had noticed that I had not had DOMS in a while even though continuing with workouts. The new bench weights and chest compression bar from a recent yard sale have left my arms a little tender.
Without a definite game plan or an instructor to force a change in patterns, it is easy to slip into a repetative routine, just through habit.

rsimo13 - Welcome! It's good to see you here and hopefully we will be able to offer any support you need to continue on your fitness journey :)!

Ottawa - I know you guys probably get tired of me harping on variety, but I do honestly believe it is the key to seeing continued improvement ! I know I have exercises I prefer to do and it can be hard to do some I really don't like but luckily I know I have to keep shaking the routine up if I want to get the full benefit. And I'd be crazy not to. After all, why work out hard if you're not going to aim for the best results, right ;)?

Hey Shadow! Thanks for the warm welcome. I have a question, and I'm not even sure if I'm posting it in the right place...

But near the end of april I starter PP and did it faithfully. I didn't notice much diffirence at first. My clothes were fitting a little looser but nothing spectacular.

So June 1st I started resistance tranining, and walking 1 to 2 miles a day. I do this for six days a week and one day off. I drink lot's of water and I am staying at 30 (usually less) carbs per day. I also take a chromium supplement.

Well, I have consistently been loosing at least a pound per day sence the beginning of this month. It's like at first, I didn't see any weight lost, now I can can assure that I'm one to two pounds lighter every trip to the gymn.

I know this sounds good, but I just wanted to verify that in fact it was. At this rate, I could possibly be 90 pounds lighter in three months? Is that even possible if I continue doing things as I'm doing them now? Is this a normal safe rate of weight loss and even good??

Thanks! :)

rsimo13....

Ok I'm not shadow but she won't mind me answering too ;)

A weight loss of what you describe can happen but only if you are a very high weight to begin with and if your body will *let* go of the weight easily.

Most of us start with a large loss for the first few weeks, then the weight loss slows down as the body cannot maintain the smae rate of loss.

Sometimes you can have weeks with no loss then another jump down in weight.

Again a lot depends on where you are weight wise to begin with and what your body does in response to the changes.
As well increasing muscle adds weight but helps burn fat so the scales may actually show an upward move now and again

rsimo13 - Congratulations on the steady loss! I must agree with Ruth. Your weight loss journey is definitely safe the way it's happening, but you will most likely hit a time when the loss weight fluctuates. But that is when it's most important to keep on doing things just as you are now :). I am so very happy to hear you've added the resistance and walking !!!!

Ruth - It's great to see you again :D! And I love it when you answer because you are such a fount of knowledge!!!!
