Sunday: Played with new weights set and chest expander, biked to/from church
Monday: Last day at this location. Already moved 8 boxes and will be stuck moving computers and any fragile things by car. Definitely not a workout but it will tie up a lot of my time today.
Tuesday: Bike to/from church for Scouts.
Wednesday: 100 inclined situps and 20 minutes of heavier hand weights
Thursday: Joined Baseball and Volleyball at my new location. Thursday lunchtime is Volleyball.
Friday: Changed plans and staying in town. Hopefully another volleyball game.
Saturday: Long bike on canal 23km and heavy bench weights in the sun.
I was at a dinner (Roving Dinner with 15 other couples) and a discussion started over how hard it is to train/exercise on a regular basis. I mentioned that I find committing and reporting on a website a simple form of accountability that helps but most said that they would like to do it on their own. I suppose you could do it with an individual journal but for me, I find this an ideal way to commit yourself. Also at some point you move past the regular DOMS and any pains associated with working out become relatively minor.

I agree, Randy - even if I don't report here exactly what I've done, just checking in with a general report gives me a sense of accountability. I'd feel that I had to "confess" if I missed too many sessions, and that's a part of my motivation. There's no single thing that keeps me going: feeling better, having less back trouble, reporting in here, encouragement from my husband, wanting to be strong and supple ... and probably a few other things I've forgotten for the moment, all play a part.

I got the week off to a good start on Sunday with a good TotalGym workout. Last week was *technically* a success, because I got in two really good workouts, and one day when all I did was some calf raises (in the shower before bed!), so I did technically get in 3 days of exercise. :o
Actually, I don't feel bad about not getting in 3 full workouts, because the two I did get in were so intense that it took almost 3 days for the DOMS to go away. This week, though, I intend to have 3 full workouts. The workout on Sunday, although just as intense and with increases in reps on all exercises, didn't lead to as much DOMS, so my muscles seem to be getting back in the swing of things.
On the other hand, CORE exercises are going to be delayed even more, as my doctor cancelled my appt this week and I have no idea when I'll be able to get it rescheduled. The receptionist this morning said her first available was at the END of June, and I told her that was unacceptable since the pain is not going away. I'm not willing to wait another month to find out what's wrong with me! I had to leave voice mail with the nurse to see if she could get me in sooner, so I'm waiting for a call back. :(

I, too, find that reporting here is more useful to me. I do keep an exercise journal now to keep track of what resistance to use on the various exercise and how many reps I should be shooting for, but that isn't a motivator for me. It's a way to track my progress, and it is nice to see the resistance and/or reps increasing each time I exercise, but it doesn't push me to exercise.
Posting here, knowing that I have to tell "the world" when I don't get all my exercise in, helps me stick with it. Last night I wasn't feeling great, and it was kind of a late workout, but I got in my upper body exercises because I really want to be able to report to all of you that I've done my 3 days of exercise this week! :D Two down, one to go!

And we're all reading it, not just Shadow :D. Well done, Mary.

Hi guys,
I've just started back posting on the M&S's forum and agree that reporting at least something keeps me motivated alot more than just using my journal.
But it seems like if I don't have something positive to report, I shy away from posting. Like this weekend, I worked in my garage & yard both days moving heavy boxes & doing heavy yard work & digging.
But I'm going to try to stick with posting anything anyway, since maybe that'll help me stay on track.

Ah - but that's when you need to post the most! That way if you're lacking motivation, we can all jump in and kick your cyber behind :D! Besides, every single day can not be a killer workout. Our recovery time is just as important as our working time ;). But you still need to check in on your "off" days or otherwise I'll be hunting you down !
