Each year my employer does a free health screening and fair for employees. Each year I get cholestrol panels etc and last couple years I have been getting osteo checks. It is a simple, painless, very short procedure that you put your foot into a machine that sends sound waves through your ankle bone to determine the density of your bones. (There are other ways as well, this one is just quick and easy and fairly accurate).

Did you know that 1 out of every 2 women will have osteo problems and likely causes for breaks, back, spine, hip and joint trouble? One out of every two--those are not great odds! and like many things it is somewhat preventable. Checking on a yearly basis, working on getting in the calcium your body needs, doing resistance exercise--all of it can help without going on medication. (I knew my morning whole milk iced lattes were good for something!!!) But if you need to or feel that is the way to go, medication is also available.

If you haven't taken the 5 minutes it takes to get this done, make an appointment to do it, your healthy bones will appreciate it!

I know your results came back just great... bones of steel!!!

I don't think, however that your latte's have much to do with it but your consistent resistance exercise plus your dedicated effort to get your adequate protein intake... even more than the calcium in the lattes!;)

Okay... this is a forum for Women's Wellness, and even though 'osteo-problems' afflict more women than men, we're not without risk if our bones are not in good shape. So, men, we know what to do...

Thanks for the reminder, Billie. I do resistance exercise plus a paleo PP, and just wanted to remind that one doesn't need dairy to stay in positive bone health. It's protein plus vegetables plus alkalinity plus resistance exercise and and and!!! pretty much the whole package!

Thanks you are so right laughingw. When I was getting mind done, the technician kept asking me how do I get my calcium, I kept thinking well honey there's more to it than that, so thanks for the reminder. Resistance and protein, does a body good!
