 After 8 months of LC, successful lowering of fasting blood sugar and regular home monitoring of BP that usually ran 126/60-70 or lower, I now (for past 2-3 weeks) have BP's that range from 10-15 pts. higher systolic and about 10 pts. higher diastolic.

I headed to my PPLC bible and discovered to my horror that I had completely missed the all to obvious advice to take 99mg. of Potassium 3-4 times daily for the first week or so of Intervention!! Didn't take it then and haven't taken any since...double dumb. I do take the magnesium supplement recommended by the Eades.

My question is should I follow that advice now to see if that will bring the BP down some? I do lots of reading on this site and have had many questions answered. Can you help me with this?? Thank you very much.

It wouldn't hurt but you shouldn't need it. If you are getting plenty of leafy green vegetables you should be getting adequate potassium. The advice in PPLP (and the other Eades books) is largely directed at the adjustment phase in intervention where electrolytes tend to be depleted through water loss associated with lower insulin.

As far as your BP is concerned there can be a lot of factors, but check to see that a few 'extras' haven't been creeping into your diet ;). Are you taking fish oil or krill oil? A good idea if you aren't. How about stress - is that more of an issue now than it has been?

Thank you mcsblues for you ideas. I can pretty much rule out carbs creeping in, but about 2 1/2 weeks ago I did have a continuous 8-9 hr. EXTREMELY stressful traffic situation that ended as abruptly as it began....could it be that it just takes a little time for that "fight or flight" reaction to settle down? I also wonder how much "plenty leafy greens" actually is per day? That also could be a factor. Thanks for the ideas. This board has helped me very much. tenngirl
