I always read the last page of a book first so that if I die before I finish I'll know how it turned out.

-Nora Ephron

[FONT]="Comic Sans MS"]Wouldn't we all like to read the last page of "our book"? Well iin some ways we are, or we can. This is not meant to be religious or anything like that, so pleae don't misunderstand my concepts here, but tying this quote to our lives seemed very appropriate to me.

We know a few things about life and a few things about obseity. We know that obseity kills us, cripples us, leaves us with limited energy, is expensive certainly with the food that goes in the medical bills that go along with it. We know we feel crummy being overweight, we feel inadequate---heck I don't have to tell you what we all know right!!!

So if we change that outcome of our last pages in our own book, to being healthy, to doing things in a positive way for our body, to eating nutrtionally sound food, using our carbs from veggies and fruits, exercising, getting rourtine physicals, aren't we able to change that last page?

And more importantly isn't that what we should be doing? Living life to the fullest, this life we have, this great body we have been given?

WE do have so much in our control, things that 10 years ago or 50 years ago people did not, it seems like we need to make those efforts count.

Interesting story, yesterday was a health fair at our work. My whole staff went down, although only 3 of the 10 of us took part in any kind of testing. I did the whole blood work testing and yesterday finallyl the osteo check and BP. Several of my coworkers said, well I didn't get the osteo done because I know how bad mine is, another said that was the way I feel about my cholestrol, my opthamalogist told me she could see cholestrol floating in my eys, I don't want to get those tests done. Certainly they are writing their last chapters of their books with denial and foolish notions that they are super women I would say. These are my staff, you know the ones who I ban carbs from the office, the ones that I let have flex time for exercise and the same 3 out of 10 take advantage of it. These are staff who are very bright in many ways. But their last chapters are going to look different than mine and yours because we are making the last chapters a great ending!

Life is quacky and crazy and confusing and hard but it is also wonderful and vital and beautiful and so much fun, lets write that last page well!

Have a great day everyone! /[FONT]

For me, what's made/making a HUGE IMPACT for me is that I'm watching my parents "last page" (or next to it).... full well knowing it would have been MINE if I don't hurry up and change it! I don't want the ailments, and the handful of pills, and doctors, and complications.

So, in this case, fear has been a GREAT MOTIVATOR!!

I woke up one day and saw what train I was on and I jumped for a different train. I found out that wishful thinking won't get me what I want (which is to slide into home plate yelling wahoo, Lynn & Sherry) and it's going to take some purposeful contributions on my part to get there.

Billie, the number of people in denial is scary. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I caught on early enough to make a difference in my own life. I hope the motivation holds!

Definitely Carol, I love you words "purposeful contributions" that is so very accurate. We can't wish it, we have to do it!

Oh, there are times when I think if I were no longer here my hubby would have all the bills paid off because of the insurance - however, that does not mean I stop striving to become healthier, so as to grow old together.

He said he'd rather live in a cardboard box with me than in a mansion without me.
