"What you think about most molds your attitude."
Meditations for Women
Do you view yourself as a beautiful women? Do you see yourself as a handsome man? Yes or no?
If yes, way to go because you certainly are! There is so much about what we think of ourselves that comes from our very own attitude. That attitude about ourselves is also how others see us. I for one don't want to be seen as frumpy!!:) We are doing fine with the attitude thing if we say yes, always working on it, but we are seeing that how we frame our mind really can and does frame our body.
If you say no, if we are not seeing ourselves as beautiful or handsome or energetic or lovable, well why is that? Is what we think inside how we want others to see us? Is it left over from something in our childhood? Or is it just the fact that our size 20 or XXXL or whatever the size is doesn't fit the mold of what we think is beautiful?
What is beautiful is in our own eyes and in our own attitude toward ourselves and others. If your best friend was very large but was your dearest friend, the kindest person, the most cherished individual, is that not really beauty? And who is your best friend---that's right it is you!
Niobe, your post did make me stop and think this morning. Your photo journal is a brave endeavor, but it is such a great benchmark for you to see your journey to good health. You are already amazingly beautiful--I mean the quips you write about swimming, your sense of humor, your interest in others--that is real beauty and I have never met you!
So for all of us if we have having trouble with visualing what is beautiful, remember who you best friend is and remember to start right there!
Have a great day!

Billie, I believe that most of us definitely look better in at least two ways.
1 Socially we appear better, since we are definitely judged differently as FAT PEOPLE.
2 Personally, as we realize the success and see the changes of eating this way we become happier and it definitely adds to our "beauty".
I caught that word Frumpy and had to look it up since I don't think of it in a relationship with physical beauty but more how you present yourself.
I found this definition for FRUMPY online ...
Usually "a female with lack of concern for appearance. Often characterized by sweatpants, frizzy hair, gramma panties and a pasty complexion."
I had a friend/student that worked for me and she moved to Vanier, a little town within Ottawa, that has a larger French population.
She once said, "You know Randy I went out last week to get the paper and walked around the yard in my housecoat, slippers and my hair in a mess. I realized that I had become Vanierized. I could frump with the rest of them and feel comfortable doing it."
We definitely take better care of ourselves better as we see the positive results on our bodies. At my worst it was getting expensive to buy pants from "Big & Tall" shops, yet only $10.00 for XXXL sweatpants if you could finds them. I definitely was in the Frump Class.
It's great to be be back amoung the healthy.

I went to my English-French dictionary in order to "speak" the language of my friend from the north and there is no word in the dictionary to match the English version of frumpy! But you got it right!!!! We ain't no frumps, Canadian or American or we better include UK and then New Zealand and then we better say the Aussies for Malcom and crew--there just is no frumpiness going on here! :D
Have a great day Randy and what a role model you are for all of us!

Oh, yes, I've been a frump.
Now, I try to pay attention to my appearance.
I got rid of my ugly underwear, and I actually wear makeup way more frequently than ever before (which may have been when I went out somewhere - a rare event).
I still frequently see myself as less than worthy or not as good as others around me, but am working at that mental set-back, too.

I can't remember enough high school French to translate that! Somebody...?
I work extra hard to avoid looking frumpy because with all this excess flesh, it's too easy to schlep. The motivational speaker, Leo Buscaglia (sp?) referred to his mother as "marvelously rotund" and I loved it. My husband is my biggest fan and seems to have made it his life's work to build up my self-esteem. He tells me I'm beautiful and sexy, but there's this little voice in the back of my mind that wants to make me believe that he's "just saying" those things. OTOH, I know quite a few big people who have electric personalities and presence and I admire them without finding their size a hindrance.
I still like to hang out in sweats, though.

I resemble that remark! :D (How's THAT for feeling beautiful, Billie? ;))
Carol, Mr. Wonderful has the same mission in life... I think I told you guys that YEARS ago, when I was down, he'd say, "OKAY! It's time for a 'steem party!" And, then he would proceed to build my self-esteem, LOL!
That's one of the things I REALLY want our boys to "get"! How sad it was for me to go through 38 years before I realized I was worth something!!! LOL, not long ago, we heard Mr. Youngest say he was special because, and listed all the reasons why... to which Mr. Wonderful later said, "I don't think we need 'steem parties around here any more!" :)

Although I've been overweight for years, I never considered myself frumpy at all. I always sought out the best and most up-to-date clothing I could find that fit me and looked good, and I never ever leave the house without makeup. No way am I a "low maintenance" chick ... hee hee ... I swear I keep MAC and Chanel in business single-handedly. :)
But I must admit, as soon as I walk in the door for the day, off come the pantyhose, high heels, underwire bra and makeup, and I head right for those comfy sweats and slippers! You're not alone, Carol!!

Well, that explains a lot right there, since what I think about most is my enormous credit card bills! :(
