I'm curious as to what unexpected side effects other people have come across as their lost weight or just got healthier. I started thinking about this when I noticed my decreasing bouyancy in the pool :D , but today I realize something even stranger: as I lose weight, or even just de-bloat, my upper lip looks bigger! How strange is that? I guess, the skin around it being puffy kind of flattens it out--I was just noticing a couple of weeks ago how when I wasn't smiling it looked like I was frowning, because my upper lip seemed to just vanish in the corners. Today I realized .. hey, not so much anymore! :)

Anybody else got some quirky side effects to share?

I noticed a few negatives very early on, a bit of acne at the start and sometime after I began working out, a change in body odour, and one or two bouts with constipation. Also I developed an addiction ... the weigh scale. I have never recovered.

After that ... and during, came the many positive things.

- Zest! Likely a mental effect but life is just so much more fun.
-- I wake up wide awake!
--- Reduction in aches and pains!
---- Reduced swelling in ankles and joints!
----- Way more energy!
------ I heal much faster! It used to take a week to recover from some of my canoe trips.
------- My hair and nails grow much faster. (not sure if this is positive:confused: )
-------- Increased Libido!
--------- My skin used to be dry and rough, especially in winter. You should feel it now.:D

One other little negative. My gut used to hang over. As I lost weight it became more "barrel-like" but the overhang was gone. As I lost more weight, my waist trimmed down even more but, a new little overhang appeared as more of the "filler" dissapeared. The overhang is now gone and I guess the skin just tightens up.

Hm-mmm... Randy! Those last two made me wonder if you're sharing DW's honey baths! :p

Interesting! Your question reminded me that the last time I lost weight down to "almost" normal, I noticed I have an overbite that is a family characteristic on my Dad's side. I wasn't sure I liked it, but the dentist assured me that it wasn't enough to consider straightening.

I'm not there yet, this time, but I plan to be!

Also, my face was long and narrow, whereas right now it's nice and round. A little saggy from the last chunk of weight off. Randy, I hope my chin tightens up like your waist did!!! I have a wattle that I did NOT have thirty years ago! I think of it as my "trophy".

Too funny Sherry.:D I did try and Epson Salt/Honey bath and it was nice but I still prefer a shower to a bath. Once in a while on a weekend I'll have a bath, especially in the winter to get warm or relax with music or a book.
BTW: The new cat has fallen in the tub twice since it likes to drink the "sweet water".

If there was an easy way to get rid of the "wattle" I think you could make millions.:D I have a small one that is slowly dissapearing but I think that I will always have some of it. I think it was Billie, who was parked at a light one time doing "Wattle Exercises" by moving her lower jaw forward and bringing it back while jutting the jaw forward???. Anyway she looks across at a car full of guys who are also stopped, and they are all watching.:D :p :D . Did I get the story right?

I noticed the wide awake thing like Randy.
Lack of headaches if I am strict purist.
WAY more alert
Lose clothing.
More energy
Less PMS and all the symptoms that go along with perimenapause
(very light or very few hot flashes, lack of night sweats. I skipped this month completely and had no side effects from it.) Something you won't have to worry about Niobe.
Feel happy inside, don't have any other reason.. just less depression episodes. None for the past 2 years.
