The thing that I have been struggling most with in my daily BS readings is the fasting one, which has been higher than before I go to bed sometimes by 20 points. The rest of the day I would have some normal readings and pre-diabetic range readings.
The last few days I have been experimenting with taking my magnesium aspartate and chromium picolinate (the last one) at bed time instead of with my evening snack. So I take that with a tsp of cod liver oil right before bed and over the last few mornings my BS has been lower than what it was before bed. Today being the best with a FBS of 117. The other two for today each came in at 98 and 105, so I am quite pleased with this.
Hopefully this trend will continue!

Hope that works for you. I've just re-started taking magnesium and am hoping it brings my blood sugar numbers down a bit. It seems to have already helped my blood pressure.

I'm so impressed, Rose! :)
I've been told that a small glass of wine later in the evening will help. I've been taking my mag just before bed to help with leg cramps. My fbs has been between 90 and 105 lately and I wonder if it's because of that. I'll add the chromium and see if that helps. Always looking for lower numbers in the morning!
I've also noticed that having dinner (protein) too late will give me higher fbs.

I think it very well could be because of that. I know what you mean about looking for lower fasting numbers, as that seems to set the whole day in motion. WOW I can't wait to get in the 90's or even low 100's for a fasting number!
Let me know if it works for you too!

Make sure it's a good chelated one and try it before bed and see if that gives you a better fasting BS. Do you suffer from dawn phenomina too?

Thanks. Yes, I do. I HAVE to use a chelated formula and I do take it before bed. I get GI upsets very easily (if a food or supplement have even a rare incidence of causing diarrhea - well, I get it). So I have had to be very careful adding magnesium, and sometimes have to back off of it while things settle down. That's where I was until a few days ago. Again I started with just 200 mg at night; after a few more days with no problem I'll increase that to 400 mg. BUT, my fbs this morning was 103 - VERY good for me.

Over the winter, 85 was a common finding, but then it started creeping up. I still don't know why, unless it was just plain ole' stress. I thought I had it made back then, but I'm back to looking for the magic combination.
