Good ideas are not adopted automatically. They must be driven into practice with courageous patience.

Admiral Hyman Rickover

Wow, that sounds like work! It’s a way of living that’s worth working for, isn’t it?

Breakfast is a peach shake. Lunch will be leftover chicken. Dinner will be something that is presently in the freezer!

We had a batch of thunderstorms go over during the night. I love to listen to the rain, but I sure didn't get as much sleep as I need! Have a great day, everyone. :)

Good morning, Carol :). We had some rain overnight too, but I slept through it - I don't think we had thunderstorms, though.

I like the idea of "courageous patience." It's not too hard to get enthusiastic for a little while, but keeping on when it gets hard, or just boring is the big challenge.

Fabulous quote today, Carol. Yes, courageous patience is what I need right now in all areas of my life.

We also had rain last night -- we got a really good soaking. I just hope it created some run off to help fill the stock tanks. It's been so dry some ranchers have had to haul in water, an expensive way to raise cattle.

Breakfast is a protein shake with strawberries. Lunch will be beef stroganoff (no noodles) with salad, and then two more shakes to finish out the day. The scale was down 2# this morning, so a couple of more recovery days should put me back to where I need to be. And then I have to develop a better maintenance plan so I can get off this rollercoaster.

Good morning.
I'm extremely impatient, so I'll be meditating on your quote today, Carol...

Woke up late, with a headache and lingering fatigue. What a yucky way to start a day. :peeved:

Working on my second cup of coffee and downed a 1/2 c cottage cheese w/1 tbsp pecan pieces for breakfast.
Lunch will be? Leftovers maybe?
Dinner will be tricky. I bought the ingredients for the cauli-turkey bake, and planned on making that. But I forgot completely that tonight we have the annual elementary school International Night - a celebration of the various cultures represented at my son's school with food and performances by the children. Most of the food (if not all) is stuff I shouldn't eat. So I usually don't partake in that. But it's 6-8 pm, so I either have to eat protein before we go and have a late dinner later, or eat an early dinner and a snack later. We'll see...

I planned to get to the gym early - so oversleeping and headache are now throwing my plan off. I think I'll go mid-morning.

Eating something before you go will be a good bet Lula. Lessens the temptation that way. Good plan !!

I already have my exercise in for the day and have reported to Shadow. It is so good to be back here and in the groove again.

Today is a beautiful spring day here. We had a cloudy and often showering day yesterday so we are really enjoying this a lot. Dh is off to play golf of course. I am looking forward to some reading and soaking up some vitamin D.

Work work work work.
Booked a trip to DC for a half day training early next month. Was hoping to catch a crack of dawn flight, do the training, eat lunch, turn around and come home. But it is not to be. Instead, fly out the day before, stay overnight, go to the training and then fly home. Oh well. A night in the Hyatt, an extra per diem... I guess you cannot get from Chicago to DC for a 9AM training, so these are the costs.

Otherwise, have some slow projects.
Am miffed at Google's second outting this month. Very annoying.

(((((Agnes)))) Sorry you are ill and feeling so rotten. Can you leave a bit early today? It must be miserable to have to fight that at work. Feel better soon.

Good jokes Ammy. You always come through for us. I never can find them and if someone sends me something that I could use.... I don't know how to bring it here for others to see. (I'm computerly challenged)

Thanks, Karole!
I actually started feeling better at some point - thinking maybe it's latent allergies? And now I'm all stuffed up again:mad:

next 2 months are going to be hectic - well, next 2 months will be very hectic and then the 3rd month will just be hectic:D at work

so, I can't be sick until September:p

Carol - I know your quote works in the workplace. When someone resists change, I just keep gently reminding them until they just do it:D

good day, despite not feeling great!

got home late & dh & I went walking before Annie comes over.
At the park, I looked up and saw a bird soaring and then land. I pointed him/her out to dh as I realized it was some sort of a hawk - I'm going to try and look him up. Huge, as big as the adult bald eagles we saw in Alaska. We've both grown up in this area and have never seen a hawk here before. We took pictures of him with our cell phones, but I don't know if I can figure out how to get it on a computer and make it bigger.

My legs are killing me today - don't know why. Oh, wait, maybe it was standing for 2 hours ... duh:o

Amy, those are great, especially the rocking chair theory! :D

Agnes, take care of yourself and feel better soon!

Lula, good for you for doing the gym. I'll bet you felt better when you were done!

Karole, I'm with you, kid. Every cartoon I look at has some kind of protection. I never worked at it because with Amy around (and Dean earlier) we're not short of funnies. Max is also very good at it.

I'm going every whichway tonight. Helped my brother with the paperwork for a teaching position, looked up proof marks for the Geezer, made my cauli casserole and now I have to throw together dinner for the guys. The air is very heavy and so is the cloud cover. We're in for more rain tonight. The mosquitoes are going to take over the world! :peeved:

Dh cooked dinner while I searched the internet for bird pictures :D

it appears the bird we saw was an immature Northern Goshawk. They like to eat squirrels and sea gulls, among other things. No wonder it was so big - and it was not an adult. The sites I found said it looks similar to 2 other hawks - Cooper and Shark(I think) but you can tell the difference by the size - they are smaller - and this guy was huge

I never thought I would be so interested in a wild bird:D

How cool about the hawk, Anniesnan.

So, the weather seemed steady enough - no rain, just cloudy and 60s - to support an outdoor run, so off I went. I did a new loop - 4.5 miles today. It was a good workout, but I didn't like having to stand at all the stoplights and wait for the crossing light to let me go... Burned 450 calories.
This was at 1 pm - it took me forever to finally make it out!

I am pleased to report that I didn't partake of ANY food at International Night. I brought some salami in my bag and ate that. I saved half of the half-stick I'd brought for DH. He didn't want it and put it in his pocket. We had some good laughs at the "is that a salami in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" thought of it...

Afterwards everyone was hungry so we went to the diner and had LC bacon cheeseburgers (sans buns, salad instead of fries).

Here's my food today:
B: 1/2 c cottage and 1 tbsp pecan pieces, coffee w/hnh
S: coffee w/hnh
L: protein shake after running made w/coconut milk; coffee w/hnh
S: pecans, salami
D: bunless bacon cheeseburger with salad. I did not win the NEAN test though b/c I nibbled on 2.5 french fries from DS2's plate and 1/8 buttermilk biscuit from DS1's plate...:o
S: more pecans and coffee...

Stats - I'm pleased with these today!
ECC 25.6
Protein 113.7
Fat 124.9
Cal 1,688

Good night y'all!

I forgot to report - dinner was one grilled hamburger and one grilled hot dog and 2 pieces of cauliflower. I seem to be at that stage where I don't really like most veggies. Had to force myself to eat the cauliflower.

rounded off the night with 4 small blackberries - not locally grown, but perfect:D

defiitely haven't woken up yet - thought I was editing my last post, not quoting it ...
