Hi to all of you ladies of a certain age. 2 weeks ago, I did not think I would be in this category. I am 46 and have a Mirena IUD so when my periods stopped, I thought it was the Mirena because that is common. Then in January, Oprah did a few specials on bioidentical hormones and how levels start dropping in your 30's and women should really start normalizing their hormones to stay youthful and vibrant and to stave off menopause related weight gain. Sounds great!

So I went to the only Dr in KC that is certified to do the bioidenticals and had some labs drawn, just to see where I'm at. You could have knocked me over with a feather when the results came back that I had already gone through menopause! No estrogen, no progesterone, no nothing! I go back next week for more labs as I have started on progesterone as that is the first to drop and he went ahead and put me on it before the labs were back. I am going on replacement even though I have no symptoms because with levels like these, aging is accelerated. Bone loss, collegen loss, increase in heart disease.

Tell me your stories! I have only been low carbing 3 months and I love it. I adhere to Eat Fat, Get Thin, simular to protein power but higher fat but have gotten a lot of great ideas from this forum!
