I've been low carbing for a year now and I'm so very happy with the results I've experienced so far. I have made this my lifestyle and feel better then ever.

Now I would like to convince my family that low carbing IS how we should be eating in order to live a longer and healthier existence without the dreaded family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high BP and death at an early age.

What I'm hoping to find is the proof to show them.... a link to a web site where they can read about the cholesterol ratios Dr Mike mentions in chapter 13 of Protein Power. I have the book but would like to also send them to the original information... Does anyone know where I could find it?

On a side note... THANK YOU DR MIKE AND DR MARY FOR THIS SITE AND ALL YOUR GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!

cmarie... it's my experience that showing something on the web isn't very convincing to most people. Someone always has something to sell on the web and that's where the apprehension that most people have of being led to a web page.
Either look to a published study in a well known journal or make an example of yourself. Just about all doctors go by cholesterol of being below 200, LDL below 100 and HDL above 60. An excellent ratio would be 1:1 for HDL:LDL or 70 for both. That's what the current trend is because it's recommended that LDL be 70 or below for those at risk and an HDL of 70 would also be considered excellent. It can be done and those number would actually reverse arteriosclerosis. Of course that means exercise and diet control.
