At first I thought it was just going to be one appearance to promote his new book: George Stella's Good Carb Family Cookbook

But it turns out that Stella's appearances on the Q during their 24-huur Cooking on Q day are more than a single show or two to promote the book. There have been spots all morning featuring Stella as the "Moneywise LowCarb Chef" giving money-saving tips for buying, cooking and eating low carb.

Usually, when that channel does that with a personality (has them do special appearance spots all day) it means that personality is moving into a more prominent position. Turns out that Stella now has his own page on QVC and is part of the channel's new 'Kitchen Crew.' Stella's page includes all of his tips from today, and several recipes.

Although Stella's latest book is billed "Good Carb" (because selling titles that include "low carb" to a publisher is almost impossible these days...), during his appearance, Stella clearly referred to his recipes as LOW carb, and emphasized that they are also sugar and wheat/gluten free. He's switched out several of his recipes to include less or no soy flour and is using ground almond meal in things like his new gingerbread and blueberry pound cake recipes. And at one point, he corrected the host when the host started down the low GI--'good carb' parallels to Stella's style of cooking.

For those who are interested in how low carbing can affect their kids, Stella's latest cookbook was co-authored with his son Christian, and is illustrated by one of his other kids. Christian also lost around 160 pounds by low carb eating, and wrote his own book called "Nine Lives for the Fat Kid Frame of Mind" which is available in a Kindle edition.
