Progress, of the best kind, is comparatively slow. Great results cannot be achieved at once; and we must be satisfied to advance in life as we walk, step by step.

Samuel Smiles

Do you suppose he said that with us in mind? Have patience and walk the walk!

Patience isn’t my strong suit, but if I have a plan and follow it one day at a time, it is manageable.

Breakfast is a protein shake. Lunch will be a salad. Dinner will be crock pot beef roast with Montreal Steak Seasoning. Yum!

I can completely relate to patience not being my strong suit either. I have to keep telling myself that every day. Results, weight, or anything else in my life, will not be achieved over night. One of the struggles I deal with is enjoying the adventure of reaching my accomplishments. Something I am working on.

We have been in such a freeze here lately...somewhere in the teens. Tomorrow it is suppose to jump up into the 40's :D. My plan is to go hiking with my pupps.

B: Grilled skinless, boneless chicken breast
L: Shrimp Salad
D: Tuna

Prot: 78.3g
Carb: 0.0g
Fat: 4.2g
Supl: Multi Vitamin
Water: At least 4 large glasses (I still have to measure how much I am actually drinking)

Good morning everyone!!

I'm pretty sure that he had me in mind when he said that. All of my life has been one step at a time. All divided into sections in which one step at a time I either went forward or backwards then forward again. Guess that it is fine that way. At least when I have to run I'm not tired.

Montreal steak seasoning? Gee, you all are so lucky to have all those neat seasonings. I always bring back a suitcase full of those and supplements. If I ever get checked at the border I 'll probably be arrested for drug and spice smuggling. The airport dogs would go nuts if they sniffed my suitcase. Once year I brought about half a pound of oregano to the States. I didn't think about the resemblance with certain other 'herbs'.

It was really lonely in here this morning waiting for everyone to wake-up. I've been on my feet since 6 my time and with this pouring rain there was nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs and wait for you guys to crawl out from under the quilts.l;)

Proteins today should be around 110 gr.
ECC always within the 30 realm
Exercise not a bit except stretching
water...tons even outside

Otherwise what else can I write...oh yes that recipe I put in the maincourse part...there is a mistake in the custard topping it should read

3 eggs and not 6! Can't correct it anymore so if one of you moderators would do that for me:o THANKX

Oh, Carol, you nailed me but good with that quote this morning. Then again you probably nailed just about everyone else on this board. :D

Weather is supposed to be warm today, so will spend a good part of it outside doing clean-up that I keep putting off and getting lots of VitD through sunshine.

Breakfast will be a cappuchino protein shake, lunch a strawberry yogurt one, and supper steak with salad. I'm in recovery mode today. But I only gained 1.5 lbs. from my overindulgence yesterday, which is less than I expected. And I'm still within my acceptable weight range, although I do admit I'm bumping the ceiling!

Have a great day, everyone.

Do you suppose he said that with us in mind? Have patience and walk the walk!

Anything worth doing will take time. And if you don't have the time (or patience) to do it right, when will you go back to fix it.

On the other hand, patience is like extended attention. I am challenged in this area. But, I try. The trick, for me, is to somehow make it interesting. Charting got me through 5 months+ before a couple of closely packed computer problems lost me my chart. Things like streaks keep it interesting, as well (I have 35 days in the book right now... today will be 36. Tomorrow, we're doing my birthday, so we'll see.).

It is a completely balmy 24 here at the moment. After weeks of <20 and <10 and double digit negative wind chill factors, it is amazing how warm 24 feels. I want to wear shorts.

Make your own:
http://www.chow.com/recipes/10590
(I'd trim the salt back a touch, and forget the dill... and since I'm me, I'd replace the 1 big T of dill with 1 little t of cumin)
Very easy.

Even easier, and also more WOW factor:
"Mix paprika, cayenne pepper (containing cancer-fighter capsaicin), cumin, dry mustard, salt, pepper, and oregano (rich in antioxidants) until you find a balance you like. Store in an airtight container. "When you're ready to grill, drizzle olive oil on the meat and rub one side with the spices," says Flay. Bonus: This rub doubles as a blackening spice for fish." (Bobby Flay in Men's Health)
It also works to blacken pork and chicken. I think it would make a fair approximation of Pollo ala Brasa too (for those of you who live around Peruvians and other Sud Americanos).

Hi everyone, bright and sunny here too, BC. So glad and we are to have temps in the mid 60's as well. Maybe some of this white (now browish) stuff will finally melt away.

Dh is threatening to find any orange golf ball he can and go play golf on the ice !! He is getting cabin fever, tho he does get out and play with the horses except in the coldest of times.

I'm going to keep my one step at a time journey going today by finding another new recipe to try . That chicken/mushroom soup recipe was sure a winner and I fixed enough to enjoy it for 2 meals so I didn't have to cook anything yesterday. Nice.

It took until I lost 110lbs before I realized that progress can be slow, but totally worth it.!!

I slept in today because our work holiday party is tonight. The party ends at midnight but because I'm "sort of" hosting, it will be LUCKY if I'm out of there at midnight. Cross your fingers cause I'm just NOT a late night person.

Meals are planned through supper. Supper is planned as well, but I don't really know how to calculate it in fitday.

7:30am 2almond scones
8:30 caul-sausage casserole
12pm 5oz ground beef, 1oz cheddar
3pm 3oz deli turkey, 2oz pickles
6:30 tuna-cones appetizers
8:30...holiday party

OH...it's going to be FORTY-ONE degrees today!!!! That's just CRAZY for MN in February!!!!

Max, honestly liked the WOW recipe underneath the chowcom site. There are all the good things I like on my meat in any case. Will definitely do a jar. Made some super provence herbs this summer. We have fresh thyme, oregano, rosemary, wild fennel...you name it. All transplanted from wild plants. They are very prolific here especially thyme which literally covers certain hilly parts of our grove. In the summer if you walk on it it literally dazes you with its perfume. I pick them all, rack dry them and then get them off the woodey part by rubbing the little branches between my hands onto a big clean linen towel. Then I get the herbs into a big mixing bowl, mix them around with my hands and put them into a dark green antique glass jar which holds around 4 cups. Take it out of the cupboard as needed. Laurel leaves or bay leaves come from the tree in another part of our land. Cut off a few branches, put them in a copper vase and let them dry. They decorate the kitchen and are also used for seasoning.

Not so shabby. But I do love those American spices which start with Mc. Especially the XMAS ones. I make most of my own spice mixes, recipes from a book by Jill Norman The Complete Book of Spices...but I guess that when I open those little tins or little jars a whole world of memories floods the kitchen.
Thankx.

Karol, what kind of horses do you all have? So miss being able to ride.

Carol, thanks for changing that 6 to a 3. The custard with 6 eggs would have been too hard and yellow instead of soft and cream colored.

Wanted to tell you all that you're also pretty lucky to be able to use those computer calculators...sparkpeople was really user friendly, thanks Lisa, but my problem is that the foods I eat aren't listed. Must be because they're 'foreign'!;)

hi all, i am learning to make shorter goals, and take it one day at a time.
this morning i had 2 wieners and one tomato. 4 carbs plus whatever is in thetomato
lunch and dinner both will be lake trout. i am sick of cauliflower so NO CAULIFLOWER today!
I might have some sliced cucumber with the trout.

this morning i had 2 wieners and one tomato. 4 carbs plus whatever is in thetomato
1 medium tomato = 4.8g of carbs - 1.5g of fiber.
Everything counts.

Hey, Puddin, we have Missouri Fox Trotters which are gaited and travel nice and smooth. Check the community conversations section as I did some posting about all our fun each summer at the trailrides near us. We love it !!!

I too thought your tale about taking all the spices back in a suitcase was cute---but isn't it like carrying coals to Newcastle to take oregano to Italy?? Your fresh home grown varieties really sound great. Sigh, ....I sure miss Italy.

Carol, enjoy the quotes. Nice food for thought each day.

Puddin, fresh herbs so handy...how great. I used to have a garden, veggies and herbs, but with so many little wild life critters sharing my space I finally gave up. We have many local fresh produce stands in our area so I support them instead.

Had a late start in eating today so may only do two meals. Hate eating if not really hungry. Only problem is that it makes it harder to get all my protein.
Breakfast was sausage and cottage cheese pancakes. Have a couple leftover salmon patties so may eat them mid-afternoon. Planning cod and avocado for dinner.

Back to getting my tax info together. Have a nice day, everyone!

Quick afternoon check in. On plan, just overall the day isn't going as planned. I wasn't up to thinking of lunch this morning so I just took my cheese planning to leave work early (normal time off is 2:30ish) didn't get out of there til 4:00 so "lunch" was a bag of peanuts. :( I don't think I'm going to make my protein today, not without gorging myself tonight which isn't good either. All other meals have been the same as every weekday :)

Hopefully will have the chicken that we didn't have last night. I'll probably go do some prelimiary prep work once I get off here to not have that excuse.

Tomorrow is Charleston (and a trip to Whole Foods, been ages since I've been). No clue what the food plans are for the day.

Bedtime for me .... no reading tonight, am beat. Will be taking the book tomorrow so will hopefully play catchup (if I don't get carsick :o )

Going to grab a cup of cocoa to take to bed with me, so I've included that in my counts. The missed lunch hit my protein even though I had a HUGE piece of chicken for dinner. Well most days I go over, and I'm not that short of my goal.

Protein: 121
Carbs: 50
Water: 112 ounces
Supplements: yes
Reading: not the PP book, HP and Crosswords seem to be occupying my time right now :D

Will pop in before I leave I'm sure.

Well, I TOTALLY forgot to take pictures of the food.
But I'll tell you this...I came home HUNGRY!!
The rice and noodles were separate, so I only took the meat, but did not get enough, especially since I was so hungry before I arrived.
I did partake in the steak tartare which was on a little sesame crisp bowl (one bite per crisp/tartare) and I had two tuna cones. Oh, I had ONE pork potsticker although everyone kept telling me how good they were. It was okay, but not how I wanted to spend my carbs.

I did have the dessert...cheesecake. One piece of cheesecake split between six people...:suspicious: I had ONE large bite.

I came home and had some peanuts cause I was hungry. I MAYBE had one glass of wine once you put all the tastings together.

The art...well that was pretty interesting. Not good interesting, ODD interesting. I'm too tired to explain tonight.

One last thing to note...I looked skinny! I was wearing a tight shirt and I pulled it down over my hips, and I know I looked skinny! that felt good!!

Sounds like you did pretty well through out the night Ammy, especially since you were hungry when you got there !! Good for you. I bet you're really glad it is all over and done with.

Don't go out hungry, silly. Good job, though.

For me:
Protein: 130
Carbs: 25
water: low (was a weird day at work)
Cals: high acceptable.
