Seek the lofty by reading, hearing and seeing great work at some moment every day.
Thornton Wilder
What are you reading for your health? Have you considered re-reading your PP book? Do you check out Dr. Mike’s blog? There are quite a few health-related websites that go along with low-carb eating.

I read Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes, which was an eye-opener. I'm also looking forward to the Drs. Eades about-to-be-released book. It's fun to check out the links on Dr. Mike's blog to see who he thinks is worthwhile to read and then discover different links on those sites to other sites. I can travel a good distance in an hour's time!

I guess I'm going to work this morning because there's no blizzard yet. :suspicious: It's still coming, which means I'll have an interesting ride home, no doubt. Oh, well, this is Michigan.

Breakfast will be a protein shake with berries. Lunch will be a cheeseburger patty with carrot sticks. Dinner will be chicken and green beans.

Hope you have a great day today! :)

Good morning Carol,

It seems lately all I have been reading is school related stuff, I was asked to fill in for a position that is so far out of my realm (Grade 9 math and science):eek::eek: I am an elementary teacher!!!! So needless to say other than this board (which is a great read, any night of the week) I am only into electrostatics and integers and polynomials!!! I am done this term at the end of the month and as much as I love teaching, I can't wait for it to be done!

Today will be;
Break: hb eggs and sausage
lunch; flat out with cheddar and pepperoni
snack; mixed nuts
dinner; shake (I won't have time for anything else, busy night planned)

I probably won't be able to check in until late tonight, meetings tonight and then I have my dance class.

Good Morning. Well, admittedly I have a good day yesterday! We were all about to go to bed at 10:30pm (after having a successful eating or lack their of day) and Lizzie decided it was time to get up. So instead of shoveling my face full of whatever I could find, I made a protein shake. (Pats self on back for good decision) We were up until 1:30am and I still manage to be alright!

Today's food is not planned but my elliptical will be here between 11-1pm.

Here's to just doing something!

Here Here Feelix!!

I wish I had more DESIRE to read about this plan or medical stuff, but I just don't have it.
I do read...but it's more in the mystery realm...right now I'm reading about lesbian gypsies!!

Meals are planned and I think I'll head to the gym again. That time reading on the recumbent was so nice! I'd like to do it again. Nothing extremely strenuous, just something to help me release tension.

8am cau-sausage casserole, 3slices turkey bacon
11:30am lc goulash, 1med zucchini
2:30pm 2oz cheese, 3bran crackers, iced latte
6pm 4oz chix breast, 2oz dreamfields with butter/parm, 1/2cup mixed veggies
mixed nuts (10 almonds, 1/2oz peanuts)

(I'm reserving the right to add some mixed nuts through my day, but they MUST be measured out!)

Currently Reading Rick Steves' Europe 101, the history and art of Europe from Lascaux to present. Very good read, but I don't know that I'm ever gonna be up to what my wife got with her BFA.

Tonight, dinner will be California Zinfandel Stew, in the slow cooker. Made this before, in DC (forgot what a PitA it was to put together... brown EVERYTHING, in batches) was outstanding. Am hoping it translates well to the slow cooker. No reason it shouldn't, since I cut the liquid by about 50%.

Chili I made yesterday was pretty watery. I'm gonna write that off to me cubing meat larger than the authors. But, with a little sour cream and some cheese, it works pretty well.

Any rate, we will see. if it's watery, I will add some instant tapioca or some cornstarch, just a bit.

Ordered a book about bodyweight exercise programs. I'm thinking I'm going back to square one and I would like to do it the right way. My philosophy right now is that you have to master your bodyweight before you start doing stuff loaded.

40oz of water already down the hatch...

anyone need a reminder to DRINK DRINK DRINK??!!

One of the things I've really noticed is that so many people around me are constantly putting on lotion, and the more I drink, the less is the need for lotioning.
I put it on once mid morning (after I do dishes), then I have no need for it anymore...if THAT isn't a huge benefit to drinking, I dunno what is!

I've been doing some art reading too, but with more emphasis on how to do it, and only a bit of history. My husband has a big fat history of art book (Gombrich) - maybe I'll get round to reading that one day. My recent interest was sparked by going to a Rothko exhibition just before we disappeared for Christmas.

Following Carol's suggestion for today, I've just dug out a couple of books to read a bit about allergies and adrenal glands. Partly to remind me of why I need to eat/rest/exercise well, and partly in the faint hope that there'll be a miracle cure in there that I overlooked on previous readings .

Amy, I don't really bother with drinking masses of water, but I've noticed that my skin needs much less moisturising on PP than before, and when I had a massage a couple of years ago, the masseuse found she'd used far too much oil, because my skin just didn't soak it all up the way she was used to seeing. I think that adequate fat and protein is what made the difference for me.

Reading "Body By Science" by McGuff and Little. Goes into many of the cellular process' regarding energy production, so I end up making side trips to my old A & P text from college. Hopefully human physiology hasn't changed that much since then. It kind of is the academic version, if you will, of Slowburn.

I currently have a headache from reading a paper my advisor is working on with some of our other collaborators. It basically says that we got it wrong. Yay!

Otherwise, today is going well. I got over my slump from yesterday. I ate turkey sausage for breakfast and cottage cheese for a snack, then meatballs for lunch.

Good afternoon all just started reading a book on the tragedy at columbine HS very good read so far. I get all kinds of mail on alternative health products which are 99% junk. There getting as bad as big pharma and no one to police them. Not that that matters a whole lot the FDA is suppose to protect us from big pharma and you see how well that works. Ok enough ranting just had to get that off my chest. Back to the gym tommorrow and staying on plan thats my goal.

Hi, Y'all,

I'd better read something good before Feb 28, when I start my MSN program. I have a feeling I'll only be reading school stuff for the next few years for sure.

Amy, is your recipe posted in the recipe section? It sounds delish.

Doing well, sales rep brought in dangerous stuff this am for breakfast. I did sucumb to a 1/8th of a huge cinammon roll. However, I got back on plan, so all will be ok.

Off to exercise, Callanetics tape.

Today was a busy day. But I kept on track. I recently read protein power (the original). I definitely prefer the second version (protein power lifeplan). I did use the calculations included in it to figure my protein needs and a target weight zone to work towards. I also subscribe to Dr. Eades blog. As for non-low-carb related reading, I'm just finishing up the Stephenson trilogy "The System of the World" It's taken me forever to digest this series. Ordinarily, I'm a quick reader; this set has proved challenging, yet quite satisfying. Kind of like chewing your way through a good steak. A little work, but worth the effort.

I had a protein shake for breakfast, an atkins bar for lunch and a ranchers salad with mixed greens, roast beef, swiss cheese, green onion, mushrooms, tomato, olives and hardboiled egg for dinner. There was a great sale at our local chain (20 percent off the whole meat dept.) so I went into town today to stock up. My freezer is now full of some good choices. It's not free-range, grassfed organic, but it was in my budget range, so I'll take that. Should last us for a few months.

Drank my water, took my supps. Exercise: hauling all that meat in and cutting and wrapping and freezing, haha! Totals: 94g protein, 28g ECC, 87g fat, 1427cal

Off now to finish that book.

Dh is still using the computer at night, and when he's done, I'm zonked.

I was very on track yesterday - ate some almonds mid-morning, had my lunch all prepped, ate a few (maybe 7) in the afternoon and wasn't frenzied for dinner, so no problem preparing a low carb one.

It is so much easier for me since dh is following this woe.

We've been eating salad again every night before dinner, too.
got in our exercise - 2x around again, and I did my stairs, plus, while dh was on puter, I did some spot exercises. Nothing disciplined, but I feel it this morning.

Well done. Water done.

In terms of accomplishments: Over X-mas, the right turn signal fell off my car. Getting it replaced has been a bit of a PitA. I found the capsule easy enough. Then had to find the bulb. Then the socket for the bulb. Finally got this done today. Will get it fixed next week. Yee-haw. The ongoing crisis has an end in sight.
