"Some people are making such thorough preparation for rainy
days that they aren't enjoying today's sunshine."

*William Feather

We got back last night from a wonderful weekend. My niece was married and truly it was one of those moments where family comes together and just enjoys. I sat next to the grooms grandparents at the rehearsal dinner, spry people in the late 70s married almost 60 years they said. I asked them if they were giving advice to my niece and her husband what they might say. Their words were to the effect of this quote, to make everyday full of sunshine. He said she was an honry old women and she said he was a devil and they kissed and smiled, lots of years together showed so nicely so many times.

On Saturday evening when the "young people" were sitting watching all of us "oldies" dance, the grandparents were out there too, shaking "their thing" and delighting in the sunshine of the moment.

I can be one of those people making preparation for the rain storm (how appropriate in Central Ilinois the last 5 days):tear: so reminding myself that today is a very important day, that this minute is extremely valuable is always good.

Hope your weekend was wonderful, and today you grab some kind of sunshine in your life, some cherished moment, exchange with a friend, good thinking about yourself, eating well, exercising....reach for the sunshine TODAY.

Have a great day!

It's raining here for the next week but I do have a great many plans for the next weather break and a sunny sky.

I have all the tomatoes, squashes, etc. ready to plant but it is a mud field. I got a few border items in but I lay down ground felt to avoid weeding later on and cannot plant the inside part until the ground is leveled, felt layed, and small cuts to insert the plants.

Even with the rain I will likely get into old clothes/boots and go level it this week just to maximise an early return.

Well, Billie, you KNOW I make my own sunshine! :p

How sweet your weekend sounded... I got to sit an hour and chat with Mr. Wonderful's grandmother yesterday... she's 98! I about fell off my chair when she said she'd had her dentures for 58 years!!! That's older than me! :D

When the rains come, literally and figuratively, it's great to have sunshine in memories like the ones we made this weekend, huh, my friend? :)

Today, for the first time in more than a week, it is sunny enough to go out without being bundled up to the eyeballs. OK, perhaps an exageration, but the fog, drizzle, wind and cool (close to zero) weather has been miserable to endure.

Yesterday afternoon we bundled and took the dogs for a run by the pond. They thoroughly enjoyed it, and the one, who loves to roll around on the ground, especially the cool ground, even found a left-over patch of snow to roll in - heaven for him.

Randy, gardening being outside, watching things grow and tending the garden are sunshine kind of things for me as well! I love it!

Sherry, you do have to make your own sunshine in life agreed for sure. And I also am a big believer in "hanging" around with people who see the sun, definitely you are a "ray"!

cmcole, you know other people would have thought of your cold dismal day as that, yet you found the sunshine--that is what I am talking about!:)

My weekend was a textbook Mother's Day weekend. Phone call from the stepson in Florida and a surprise one from young friends who moved to Texas a year ago and regard us as parent figures from their stay here. Spent introspective time with my adult son and took my mother out to brunch. Warm and fuzzy.

We're in a rainy pattern too. I'm getting tired of it, but we really need the rain and growing things are now brilliant green. It can rain for the next three weekends, but then it has to straighten up and shine because our town has an outdoor event that depends on it!
