I have a few very old recipes from the old bulletin board...for some of them I have the names of the posters, but some of them I don't, and I have no idea where they originated from. Would it be okay to post them, in light of copyright laws? I read the tips for posting at the beginning of this forum, but I'm still unsure about the appropriateness (is that a word?) of these.
Thanks, Donna

Donna, if you have the name of the original poster, just include that in your post, along with the board you got it from. We've had three in the past 18 months. I've done that several times since the new board came online.

As for the others, I'll defer to the moderators. My personal opinion is that it's ok as long as you refer to the source you got the recipe from.

Donna, if you have any way to credit the original poster, please do that...but I know that there are a lot of recipes floating around out there that someone came up with years ago and the original poster is long forgotten unless they've included their name in the recipe. When I've uploaded something that was saved from a previous version of this forum, sometimes the only credit I can give is the ID of the person who saved the recipe and note that it came from the old board.

Another thing about the recipes on the earlier versions of this board...at one point I asked the webmaster if the site management company was taking over any copyright protections for recipes posted to the site, and he assured me that they were not. Recipes posted to the old forum stayed entirely the property of the original poster. (I'll make sure to check with this webmaster to confirm this board is operating the same way; I believe it is, but I'll make sure.) In any case, uploading something posted to the old board doesn't violate any copyrights of the Eadeses, or Bodytrends, or any of the other web management companies that were used. Find the thread where the recipe is appropriate, and upload away!

It's still a bit of a shock to search on an ingredient and stumble on one of my own recipes on a forum I've never seen before, by a person who copied the recipe but has no idea from where or who to credit. I guess I'm lucky that 'Gaelen' has remained a relatively unique ID since I started using it around '92. ;) Another recipe that shows up everywhere is "Steph's Yummy Chicken Stuff," although most of the places I've seen it the poster didn't realize that Steph was a real person, and a long-time member of earlier versions of the Protein Power forum.

Thanks...I'll add a few recipes as soon as I get the chance! Ahhh...Steph's Yummy Chicken Stuff...we love it, and I do remember Steph! And her husband...wasn't his name John? I was wondering whatever happened to TracyJ...I was on board and followed her wedding, but then haven't seen anything from her lately. She was such an inspiration!
Anyway, thanks for the advice!
Donna

Donna7, yes, Steph's husband's name was John, and she had a daughter just a few months before the old website crashed. TracyJ was a great inspiration, but after getting married she was finding life needed more of her attention. ;)They may find their ways back here some day; meanwhile, we've left the light on for them.
