I was looking through the Netrition website and was wondering if any of you buy prepackaged hot flax cereal; if so, what brands are best? Thanks...

I don't know about any of the other brands, but I've tried the Flax-o-meal and I love it. (I think the brand now is called Flax-Z-Snax hot cereal, but it was originally called Flax-o-meal and some of the ad stuff still has that label...) It reminds me a lot of the cream of wheat I used to eat as a kid. The Decadent Chocolate Cream flavor I make with hot water and add some chocolate DaVinci syrup for sweetener and to make the chocolate flavor even more intense. I've also added a glop of Xocai for a really intense chocolate hit! <g>
I've also tried the Cinnamon and Spice flavor. That one was still good, but the texture was a bit more gritty/nutty than the chocolate. That one I add in a bit of DaVinci maple syrup for a french toasty taste.
I'm thinking of trying the butter pecan flavor next. I really like this brand because the ingredients are really natural. If you have nut allergies, though, you might have problems, because although flax meal is the main ingredient, almost all of them also contain some type of ground nuts.

This is the brand on sale right now at Netrition...I think around $4-5 or so...butter pecan sounds great, as I'm not much of a chocolate lover (yes, there are a few of us in the world, although if it's in the form of a 3-Musketeers that would no longer apply!) I'd heard of Flax-o-meal but not Flax-Z-Snax, so I wasn't sure if it was a good brand to try. Thanks for the advice...

I got the cinnamon flavor at my local HFS - pretty good. I like it with a little more cinn and a dash of molasses.
I've also used it to make a "bowl muffin" sort of things because I had no flax seeds or ground flax. I'm not sure it comes out the same as if I'd used straight flax - but it tasted pretty good. It does have wheat bran and soy protein - so if you are sensitive to either of those ingredients - be aware.
