Thought I'd start a thread to gather up our ideas for the next challenge.

My suggestion is a "back to basics" challenge.

Recalculate protein needs
State ECC goals and stick to them. That will be different for each as some are in the active stages of weight loss, some at or near maintenance
Plan ahead for "honey tree" meals or days
Work on the "other 20%" including exercise
Adopt an exercise program (if you don't already have one) with emphasis on resistance training).

What other ideas do you have?

I think it's a good idea to emphasis sticking to the basics through the holiday season - allowing for each of us to define what that means for the stage we're at.

It doesn't matter to me as long as I know I'm involved with all my buddies! :D

yep, back to the basics...

And I really find reporting my food/counts for the day is a HUGE benefit for me! And then checking back the end of the day as to whether I stuck to it or not....

but that's me...

What do you mean what Buddies??

I am glad to be in a challenge with ALL of you. It makes the challenge much more inviting.

but that's me...I think that would be helpful for many of us. Especially if we know we will report the actual!

Hi...I'm new to PP and looking to join a challenge group. How does your group work?
My goal is 60 pounds.

Denise, we run a monthly challenge thread to make life more interesting. Some are more structured than others, but this time of year we know the holidays are coming so we prepare for them. Some of us choose to stay on our usual plan, but others of us realize the difficulty of that in the face of traditional dishes, so we identify a meal, a party, a day to indulge in a controlled way. We call that "a trip to the honey tree".

We'd love to have you join our challenges! There's an exercise challenge in place on the Movers & Shakers forum too.

After reading Dr Mike's blog on the Changing Perceptions of Obesity (http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/weight-loss/changing-perceptions-of-obesity/), I'm feeling that I really should make the effort to trim off those extra five pounds that keep hanging around . I don't want to do it very fast, because my hormonal balance seems to be hanging by a thread, and I don't want to do anything to upset it too much, so I'm thinking more of tightening up on my maintenance levels rather than back to Intervention. I'll cut the carbs lower again if I need to.

Since I'm going to be gone for a few days, I thought I'd post my Nov/Dec plan here.

Recalculated protein needs: 74 day/ rounded to 25 per meal
Recalculated body fat/LBM 33.2 fat (I'm finally in the normal range for my age -- yippee! :D) with 103 lean mass (this is down a bit from a year ago).
55 ECC since I'm approaching maintenance -- never thought I'd say that! :)
I will contine on the M&S challange for exercise
Other 20% -- do some serious reading in theology instead of the "fluff" stuff, get outdoors more, even when it's cold
Honey Tree days: 2 meals in November and 3 in December, one of which will be all Christmas Day (not a pig-out, but just more relaxed).

I'll change my siggy to reflect some of this.
