I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. And I'll apologize right up front for my very long first post!!

This is my second shot at PP. I've been living it for 11 days now. Things are going fairly well. I think I'd like to lose about 100 lbs, but I'll be sure when I get close to that goal whether I want to adjust that up or down. I'm 43 and quite frankly, the health benefits have gotten more of my attention this time around than the fat-loss part (though I am definitely interested in that!) The last 2 times I had my bp taken it was starting to elevate ~ nothing alarming, but the change got my attention.

As for the rest of my life, I'm a full time, homeschooling mom of 6 kids, (ages 23 - 2) and wife of one wonderful man for 24 years. I'm one lucky woman! My husband is deployed right now after only being home from the previous year-long deployment for 3 months. He retired from the Army 6.5 years ago, but is deployed as a civilian contractor. Life is always interesting.

I'm one of those more skittish forum users who takes a while to be comfortable using my real name, so am most commonly called "knitter" in the other forums I'm in (guess why?), but my username is good, too. (My username here is tied to my blog.) I'm also slow to post, but will read and reread the good stuff I find here.

I look forward to learning from your experience and being encouraged by your successes. I've already found the motivation to actually start a bit of strength training... something I've been making excuses about! So thank you for that!

We're SO into resistance there. In fact, it's a big part of our October M&S challenge. Say HI if you pop in!

The regular Challenge thread is about preparation for the holidays. It's never too early to plan, and some of us have big issues.

Enjoy!

That is exactly the thread that motivated me to do more than think about doing it. My husband's bowflex (poor thing's been neglected for over a year!) will be my weapon of choice, I think.

Welcome, Knitter. It took me several months before I felt comfortable and opened up about who I really am, so it's perfectly OK to be shy. Just don't be shy to post or you'll get lost in the shuffle. We do love to talk around here, as you can see if you perused the Challenge and M&S threads. There's also the community forums for really off-topic conversations.

So, please jump in and encourage us as we want to encourage you. :D

Hi Knitter!

I'm new here too! I'm still a little skiddish about letting out a lot of details of my life, but everyone here is so friendly, I'm sure I'll be blabbing them all in no time.

It's always a good thing to be cautious about posting information about yourself on the internet. The off-topic and journal sections are slightly less public than the main areas - they can only be read by members of the board.

Thank you, everyone.

Good to know that those two areas are more private. Maybe i'll start a journal one of these days. :)

Hello,
Bowflex has an owners club with online videos of how to do this or that. It's helped me with my otherwise "dusty" machine. I've lost about 56lbs already on PP. It actually works if done correctly. I re-read important sections from time to time to refresh my memory and reinforce my knowlege. I recently got the "30" day book which is filled with really good recipes. Good luck!
