View Full Version : (R)oc(k)tober 2 Thursday
I don't have any fancy motivational thing to say..just get up, get out and go for it.
Wait a minute...maybe I do...
It's your life...You live in YOUR body and if you don't take care of it, no one else will.Your quality of life depends on how you feed and excersize your body. YOU have the ability to change your body and your mind. You have to believe in yourself. If you consistantly day after day, Eat lo carb and excersize, you WILL see changes. As you keep your promises to yourself day in a day out, you will begin to trust yourself and you will like yourself.YOu will gain confidence in your ability to control your binge eating and your blood sugar. No one likes a person who does not keep thier promises. If you keep breaking your promises to yourself about what you will and will not do, You lose respect for yourself.
So ...get it back. Keep those promises. Write them down. Read them daily and love on yourself by doing what you say you'll do. BE your best friend.
Pepe talk over...It was as much for myself as it was for you.
love you all...you're free to go.

Today I got up, let the dogs out and went down and rode my bike first thing. Then I came up and drank 2 glasses of water , got coffee and ate a small plate of italian beef. 2 hours later(now) I'll drink a protien shake with raspberries and other stuff in it.
I probably should have had the shake first, but I wanted something warm.
I gotta figure out something for tonight. We are invited for pizza and italian wedding soup at a friends. If I can make a protien main dish, I will call her and call off the pizza and bring dinner. The person is a diabetic and should not be eating pizza anyway. It's just for convenience because she works. I am off today..so I don't care about convenience. After my dental appt at noon...I'll go through the recipe section here and find something.

Good morning, all. Hawk, many thanks for the inspiring post. Helps keep me focussed on the big picture.
My planned meals for today are an Italian sausage and flaxmeal bread for breakfast (already done), chicken "Brunswick" stew for lunch with the rest of the flax bread, and probably a shake for supper. In between, I'll eat some almonds and a serving of okra. I'm trying to get back on the "portfolio" plan which is supposed to help reduce cholesterol. I was faithful for a while, then got sloppy. As is so typical for me.
Have a great day everyone! :)
Morning...SUPER busy.
But wanted to record my food.
I have NOT been sticking to my supper plans, so today THAT simple thing is my goal. I do great all day long, but supper gets thrown out the window.
7am 3eggs, 2sausage, 1lc toast
11am big salad with egg, cheddar, bk olives, feta, alfalfa sprouts, broccoli, sun seeds, no carb dressing, jello salad
3pm 2laughing cow cheese, 3no carb bran crackers
5:30pm wendy's dbl with cheese, 1/2 bun, caesar salad
2sf popsicles, decaf iced latte
Pro: 127
Ecc: 42
Fat: 137
Cal: 2058
I may get tea instead of a latte at my meeting tonight.

Good Morning,
Doing well today, just PMS'ing and it is about to drive me nuts. I have the munchies something terrible. Eating sunflower seeds right now.
Had to share. I have a group of friends that I talk with online every day. Many of them that are working on losing weight are avid weight watcher member. I have shared, but no one is listening. Even one who is a female, 40 years old and on statin because of family history. She has lost 40 lbs and become an avid runner. She wants to lift weights, but because it doesn't give her as many points as cardio, then she is not lifting weights. She is only allowed 20-21 pts per day not counting her activity points.
So, anyway, this morning, she was talking about how she changes things around so that she can get the most food that she can (usually means giving up fat an protein), and looks forward to her long run days to get extra points. So, this morning, I was complaining about having the munchies, and listed what I had to eat for breakfast. 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, and a small amount of grits. I was doing it to be mean. Just to show her what she could have. Of course, she is probalby thinkings that my arteries are clogging as I type.

Lunch will be chicken thigh(s)
Supper will be sheepshead fish, I think with creamed spinach, and perhaps another veggie. I may have a snack or two throughout the day. . .we'll see.
Happy Thursday!

It's your life...You live in YOUR body and if you don't take care of it, no one else will.Awesome, Lynn! Just what I needed to hear. Especially when someone asks me if I'm "going to the gym again?"
If I can make a protien main dish, I will call her and call off the pizza and bring dinner. Wow, that's pro-active!
I was faithful for a while, then got sloppy. As is so typical for me. You think you're the only one? :paranoid: Think again, BC! ;)

I have a group of friends that I talk with online every day. Many of them that are working on losing weight are avid weight watcher member. I have shared, but no one is listening. I think the evil fat/healthy grain idea has pretty much permeated the diet world. I wonder if we'll live long enough to look back and laugh! Things are changing, but not quickly. I usually keep quiet unless somebody asks. I can't stand rejection!
I'm off to a good start with a protein shake for breakfast and two brats for lunch. Dinner will probably be leftover roast chicken. The broccoli is gone, so I'll have green beans.
Chilly here this morning, in the forties (F) and tomorrow it will be in the thirties! Definitely jacket weather.

I, now, only share by PM so that I am not getting mentally criticized by everyone reading the board. I will on PM someone who has tried WW and finds it is too difficult or those with sugar/chol problems. I PM them the link to this website and the books.
My dad blames WW for his diabetes. He lost down really slim, eating lots of potatos and rice, hardly any meat. When he started eating again, he became diabetic. No diabetes run in his family. Fortunately, he believes in PP. Unfortunately, he doesn't follow it.

Hawk, you're up bright and early and peppy this morning.
Just got back from the gym. Going to down a LC yogurt, 1/2 cottage cheese, I'll do the protein shake for lunch. Then dinner tonight will be either grilled chicken or pork chops -- havent decided.
Thursdays are "late" days for me. I don't go in to work until about 2:00 pm. Then from there I get to stay there teaching a financial seminar until about 9.... because of this I didn't have to get up at 5:30 am to go to the gym. I went at 8:00 instead. Just getting home now.
It's nice to be able to just relax for a couple of hours before I really have to start the day.

I know. I have been the same way though for nearly 8 years. I still used some of the principals, but I sure didn't follow it and gained 100 lbs. I am now following it and losing. Have more energy in the last 3 wks than I have had in years. Only this week I am a little sleepy from either not sleeping well or child/dog waking me up. Definitely not experience the crashes at 10 a.m. like I was before.
Hopefully, he is starting to follow it again. I haven't talked to him in a few months.

Omlette...What you said about the woman on your board really hit home with me. I, too, post daily on a board where there are other women trying to lose weight and are doing WW. They are so locked into the "fat is evil" mindset. However, most of them have been struggling to lose the same amount of weight for just as many years as I've been posting there. Recently, one of the women decided to take herself to a doctor so she could find out why she wasn't losing. Guess what?! He put her on an eating plan that is just like PP! He also did some bloodwork and discovered that she is insulin-resitant. She reported yesterday that in the last 4 weeks she has lost 19 lbs. I have told her that I switched to PP and we have been e-mailing about recipes, protein shakes, etc. She and I have both noted that when she reports a loss, hardly anyone congratulates her. I could rant on and on about WW, but I think you know where I'm coming from.
Hawk...Such an inspiring post. Thank you!
Amy...Hi there!
Good wishes to you all

I know. There is one lady on my board that is even having problems with her BS's and gums. I PM'd her, but her response was that she was using what her dentist had prescribed her, she ignored teh PP link. I had told her about Jasons Healthy Mouth rinse. It had dramatically helped my gums that back in the spring I needed $4000 worth of oral surgery, to not needing any now.
they still congratulate me on my weightloss, but thye don't join in any of my conversations or remark on anything I post concerning PP or the different cholesterol things that Dr. Mike has blogged on.

I know. I have been the same way though for nearly 8 years. I still used some of the principals, but I sure didn't follow it and gained 100 lbs. I am now following it and losing.I left low-carb for twenty-five years, never forgot the principals, and am finally, after four years, breaking new ground weight-wise. That's why I hate to plan honey-tree days; I never know if I'll just keep going! I think it's great that you're here with us, Mo. I hope your dad gives it another try, too.
Good wishes to you allkwe730, welcome to the board! Thanks for sharing your story, too. Our challenge this month is preparing for the holidays. Please join us! :)
Dinner was indeed chicken, and I made soup for the guys with the leftovers. Didn't get to the gym tonight (sick husband) but I'll try to get an extra this weekend.
