Is it truly Manic?

I like the structure of Monday. It the structure of the week that grinds me down by Friday. But by Monday, I'm ready to come back and rock.

For those of you about to Rock, we salute you.

Except for Sunday, when I go to church, every day is about the same as the others, so no manic Monday for me. Although I will be busy. A cold front (relatively speaking--I do live in Texas) came through last night and it's supposed to be in the 70's today and the 50's tonight. I'm going to take advantage of the cooler weather to split and stack firewood and to do some other outdoor chores. I also need to get a bunch of kindling cut up -- the remnants of the barn I took down last summer that's still thrown in a huge pile.

Oh, yes, food -- Flax bread with cheese this morning. Baked chicken breast with okra and broccoflower for lunch, protein shake for supper, and somewhere in between a peach and a handful of almonds.

Have a great day, everyone. :)

I have my nephew and his friend staying. They're both 21, so I think they live in a different world from mine ;). The main difference is that they spend about 75% of their waking hours talking on the phone or texting .

Checking in! All is well here in Utah! Food: shake, salad and grill something for dinner ... I'm so boring when it comes to food ... it works!

It's nice to hear everyone else is having such a CALM monday...mine is pretty manic.

Hosting an all employee meeting...getting lunch orders from everyone from a sandwich shop-thank goodness they offer "lettuce wraps".

also working on last minute speech preps for the meeting...

Yes, I'm manic...

I'm sorry to hear you are suffering from hyperactivity or excessive enthusiasm.

That is EXACTLY what I am suffering from...

Not only am I planning the big company meeting, I am helping my brother set up camping at a spot we go to often, we're booking our hotel for Thanksgiving, and we're working on getting food set up for the weekend at my parents!!!

That's a LOT going on for a Monday morning!

Wait..I do not have "excessive enthusiasm" around any of these events...but I do suffer from "hyperactivity".

Well, I'm not manic either, but I'm making steady progress. I don't really want to look at my to-do list right now because I keep getting side-tracked with "urgent" stuff while I'm working on the "important" stuff.

Breakfast was a mango/ginger protein shake. Lunch will be a pork steak. I had a sugar-free hot chocolate and some almonds earlier (instead of eating lunch on time) and FitDay says I'm already to 30 carbs. :tear: Without that little monster, I'd have rationalized the snack and gone over my budget.

Today was a rather calm Monday because we took our Labor Day holiday today for school. I needed it because my weekend was manic! The excitement for today was taking the kids to the dentist for checkups. Wooo! :D <------toothy grin ;)

Working the plan...food anyway. I have to make up for yesterday and get back on track. I'll stick that in my journal.

Good grief! Every time I think, "Man, I gotta log in; it's been a few days," it turns out it's been a week or more. How does that happen?!?

Hey Tress...good to see you!!

Watching History Detectives again (LOVE that show)...
Final counts for today:

I didn't exercise, instead I spent some time working in the garden - trying to close it up for the fall...not a LOT of time, not enough to even count, but that's what I chose to do instead of going to the gym.

Good night all!!

Hi, guys! This has been a high-adrenaline day for me. Nothing bad, just fires to put out. I almost got manic! ;)

Dinner was a couple of brats and two squares of lindt 85%.

I'm yawning. Good night! :)

I've got to find time to get my garden tilled under too. As I went out there tonight I picked a large bowl full of very sweet grapes. mmmmmm

Sometimes, working in the yard or garden can be as productive as the gym ... I have a hard time picturing our paleo-ancestors lifting weights at an "organized" gym ... they were more cutting down trees, moving rocks, dragging their wives by the hair ... ooops ... did I really write that, sorry ... anyway, my point is ... they didn't go to the gym either .... but since I WON'T drag my wife around ... I better go to they gym.:cool: (Amy, I doubt you would get away with dragging GF around either ...)

Hi, guys--

I've been missing in action for a week or so. Life has been just crazy...is that as bad as calling it manic? I have been just working every second at school and with working evenings, all I can do when I get home is crawl to bed.

The eating is going well overall. I had a couple of hours off plan on Saturday, but I'm back on track now. These little excursions off plan are keeping me from losing. I'm not gaining, but not losing either.

So...just checking in. I'm just beat, so I'm heading off to bed. I want to try to at least get on to the challenge thread each day. I need accountability for sure, and the occasional kick in the pants to keep me on the straight and narrow.

See you all tomorrow...I promise.

Ruth, check in when you can ... we'll do our best to keep you on the straight and narrow ... I can't promise anything :)

Hrm.

Maybe there's something here.
You've maybe seen the shovelglove. (It's a sledgehammer wrapped in a towel)
You've maybe seen the kettlebells.
You've maybe seen something about working out Amish style.
And maybe you've even seen the sandbags. Or people pushing cars for exercise.

Now, the next invention for the home gym:
An analog for the paleo mate.
You have to drag it around, by an unstable grip (simulated hair). It's about 130 lbs, and you can pick it up or drag it or whatever, but you have to move it a couple hundred yards at a go.

It's the paleo-functional workout for the modern caveman.

(or maybe not)

:jawDrop:...yeah, not seeing that happening...

I will say THIS though. When we were in the BWCA there was a tree we needed to hang our food in (so the bears didn't get in it), There was already a small rope hanging there, but high enough neither of us could reach it...

So *I* hugged the tree, therefore offering my 180lb GF a thigh to stand on so she could tie our rope to that one. It took 5 tries to get it tied and in the right place, and one quick one to untie it! THAT was PROOF I have strong thighs...I'm not going to say it didn't hurt (cause 4 of the 6 of them hurt like CRAZY), but I held tight, even when my leg started shaking because it was tired! I did it!!

ME CAVE WOMAN!! HERE ME ROAR!!!
