Would lard be a better choice then "green" Crisco (no transfats)? I know that when we travel to the Amish area..I can readily have available access to lard..(natural and organic) and I was wondering if that would be acceptable on this plan?
I bought some of the "green" crisco this past weekend, and when I got home, I read the label..and it's soybean oil, sunflower oil, fully hydrogenated palm oil:eek: , mono-and diglycerides, tbhq and citric acid.
I bought it with the intent to try my hand at pie crusts...and never mind, I just answered my own question....lard is considered a "good fat" in the Eades book...pg 320 in PPLP. I'll take the crisco back...besides, I should have read the label..and avoid soy products due to my hypo thyroid issue.
