I think I had a "gym rat" experience today. As my last exercise, I was doing reverse sit ups on an apparatus in the corner of the gym, but jealously eyeing the ab strength a pair of workout buddies were displaying on the captain's chair, which I've never attempted. As one of them finished, and I raised up for the 12th rep on my 3rd set, I said "Kudos."
Getting my drift, the guy said, "You could do this."
Me: "I wish."
Other workout buddy: "C'mon — I'll spot you."
Feeling full of endorphins, I said, "OK" and went over.
The spotter me held up his hands as a target, and I started. I didn't keep count, and I gasped out after my last lift, "How many?"
Spotter: "12. Good job."
Me: "Thanks for the help." As I walked away, I was saying inside, "Rawwwrrr! Me iron man!"
