Good Morning Folks!

I am having a baby today! I am completely excited and can't sleep... we have to be at the hospital by 5am..... so I guess it's just as well I can't sleep (been up since 2am).

SO... to brag my truth of a gestational diabetic eating PP (80-120carbs daily) for the last third of my pregnancy......
On a 5 foot 3 frame...
Started pregnancy Dec 07 = 192lbs
Started sorting out my carbs/PP way of life June 08 = 211lbs
Lost 6lbs in 6weeks (if I remember correctly) and then held it off...

Mid-July stopped watching what I'm eating
Official weight yesterday 212.5lbs.... (August 4th, 2008)

Total weight gain 20.5lbs......

THANK GOD for PP way of eating! I would have been up at least 10lbs if not more.

I will post pic as soon as I get back online ... Not sure how many days it will take me to sort this mommy thing out... HUGS to you all and thanks for supporting me through one of the most life changing experiences for me personally!

HUGS!

Feelix..Have a great day meeting your newest family member!!

Sorry I have not been around. I have been crazy busy and stressed. Jon came home yesterday and I started a new part time job.

I have also buckled down in the last two weeks. I worked out at the gym and watched every carb that entered my body. I lost two pounds last week. I weigh on Monday mornings.

I have coffee today. I am getting eggs and more coffee. I will grill stuff for dinner and have a protien shake for lunch.

I started working for a woman landscape artist part time. For some one who loves to garden, this is a dream job. Around the lake here, there are some VERY large houses ..summer homes for people with lots of money who live in Chicago. I get to go snip off flowers, pull weeds, plant stuff , haul and spread mulch and sweat to death. It's an all woman crew and they are fantastic. Just three of us. I got a call from a woman who saw my yard asking me if I would be interested in working for her boss. We have a great time together. It's not like work.

Way to go, Feelix! I can't wait to hear your next post!

How is everyone else this morning? I don't weigh often, but I seem to have dropped five pounds since I got back from vacation. I weighed again this morning just to make sure it's holding. On my antique, hard-to-read scale it could be six, but I'm quite happy with the five number.

We missed a big storm last night; it went to Chicago instead. Tornado warnings downtown! Max, you'd better check in with an eyewitness report, eh?

We're going to a "Healthy Eating" seminar tonight. When the Geezer was reading the flyer to me, I started rolling my eyes. I can't stand to listen to mainstream lowfat, "eat your grains" messages any more. He was grinning at me because at the end, the speaker was our favorite doctor who first suggested PP to me. Very cool!

Breakfast was a strawberry shake, lunch will probably be another salad and dinner will be a burger with sauteed onions, mushrooms and green pepper, topped with cheese.

What's your extra for today? Mine will be that seminar. Education!

I got a call from a woman who saw my yard asking me if I would be interested in working for her boss. We have a great time together. It's not like work. Hawk! That is so YOU! Will you retain enough enthusiasm to keep your own yard up?

Glad to see Jon is home for a spell. :)

Yeah, big storm. Missed stuff on TV because of constantly updating tornado warnings. They even had a rotational warning for Logan Square, which is right where I live. Fortunately, we live in a nice brick and masonry building and we sleep in the basement anyway. The rotation warning was over by 9 or 9:30. By 10:30 the real fireworks started. We had hail (TG for covered parking... not everyone in our building has it, but the folks we sublet from bought it) and we had thunder and lightning like the end of the world. Haven't seen T&L like this since moving out of Texas. The poor cats were terrified.

At any rate, everything this AM is wet and there's a ton of tree junk in the streets by us. But nothing really major. I know some folks lost power. We didn't. Almost too bad. Would save me some on the electric bill if we'd had a 4-6 hour outage in the middle of the night.

At work, with a lot of boredom planned.

Hawk, it's good to see you :D. That really sounds like a dream job for you .

Carol, I've managed to drop a couple of pounds, too. I'm not quite sure why they suddenly decided to go now, but I was pleased to see a slightly lower number again :).

Feelix, I know it's too late for you to see this now, but I'm sure you'll be reading through these when you get home...thoughts and prayers headed your way, not only through labor and delivery but for those early days of adjustment at home.

Just a quick post before I head out. I need to run a couple of errands before I get to work at 11. I have a meeting at noon to sort out details of the ACT test prep course we're offering for the first time this fall.

Then I plan water fitness tonight. This is the instructor I like the best, so it should be a good time, assuming the predicted strong storms hold off until class is over. We've had hail and tornado warnings a couple of times over the last week, so I'd rather not see severe weather tonight. The frustrated meteorologist side of me was fascinated by the storm Saturday as we drove along the interstate--you could actually see the rotating clouds in the sky. Unfortunately, I was the one driving at the time...:jawDrop:

I plan a protein shake for breakfast when I finally get downstairs and then a pb wrap early afternoon. I already browned some hamburger, so I'll do something with that when I get home.

Enjoy the seminar, Carol. I have my last meeting with my PP doc next week, since he's moving on to a teaching position at the hospital. The upside--he's training new docs. The downside--I have no idea what philosophy the clinical weight loss program will follow. I may be on my own (except for you wonderful people). My eyes just glaze over when they start talking about healthy grains and low fat.

Hawk, Missy, Mitra--good morning to you all as well. Max, I know you're out there--probably posting while I was writing this.

Have a good day!

Yep, I was right. Max, I saw that radar. It looked pretty intense. Some of that is headed our way later.

We have sun...and lots of it...but a promise of lower humidity, so no storms near us. Glad everyone posting so far has survived storms.
Anyone here near Galveston?? I have a friend just north of Houston, I'm waiting to hear from him but it sounds like Edouard wasn't TOO bad...?? I've never experienced a hurricane, so I don't really know what "bad" is?

Feelix, best wishes and prayers for a safe and healthy delivery! :)

Amy, now would be a good time to tell Feelix to push.

Carol and Mitra, congrats on your losses! :D (Only at a site like this would that make sense.)

Typical day:
Bfast: ham and swiss omelette, wasa, 1 dark choc kiss (I'm out of my 85% Lindt )
Snack: coffee with half and half
Lunch: dunno, probably a spinach salad with turkey
Snack: nuts
Dinner: chicken in the crock pot (if I remember to put it in on time )

DD has horses this afternoon, and we'll take a trip to the library. Other than that, the usual shtuff.

Have a good one!

Hmmmm...I thought she was being induced? I could be wrong. I know a couple of pregnant women right now who are facing induction if they don't go soon.

Ammy

Well, you could be entirely right...really, when I say I know NOTHING about birthin babies, I'm not joking.:o
I've never seen it, I have never discussed it with people close to me that have had them, I know NOTHING!!!

I was thinking back to a message that she said she was trying to "have he the natural way, but that if she didn't soon, it would be..."(and this is where I thought she said c-section, but now that I look back, I think you're right)..."induced."

okay..now I really REALLY have to say it...

FEELIX...IF YOU CAN HEAR ME...

PUSH!!!!!

Ammy

Nah...you're right...induced...

As for me - I am STILL pregnant. I have an appointment this afternoon to confirm induction for tomorrow. I am excited to meet my baby and am hoping she decides to come on her own...... HOWEVER, It will still be great to meet her!

Amy, you might want to go back and edit that post with a quote box around Feelix's words. Even with the purple text, it looks like you're saying them. LOL!

I'm with Max on this one ....

I did witness the birth of my 2 daughters ... and that was enough.

NOW...Just got back from the gym and I am sore. I only had 12 hours of rest between workouts, so I was not really up to going ... but I did!
