Well, with the news of the baby not arriving, i had ice cream at about midnight... at 4am my blood sugar is 124 ... much higher than it has been in some time! I also might add heartburn is about to kill me, baby's miserable and my tummy is serious sore... Needless to say not worth it!

So yes.... no baby today but that means that my body is doing it's thing naturally and we don't have to rush it. There were fears that my body wouldn't cooperate so I am beside myself with glee! I want to directly link PP WOE to it, I believe the fuel I put into my body played a part although I can't directly put the two together. Although a body can't run if it doesn't have proper fuel right?

So, can you remember the benefits of eating PPWOE? Is there perks that are your main motivation?

Tuesday already?!?!?!? Where did Monday go? For that matter, where did the first half of 2008 go? I still haven't done the end of the year financial stuff for the Community -- thankfully we don't have to actually file taxes, but still need to have the financial paperwork up to snuff in case Uncle Sam inquires. I'm getting too old -- time is just flying by.

Was nicely on-plan yesterday. Actually below plan in that I ate only 36 ECC and plan on doing a similar fare today. Scale is within 1 lb. of where I was when the dream bar attack occurred. That's a cop out, isn't it? Let's rephrase -- I'm within a lb. of where I was when I CHOSE to overindulge in dream bars. One more day of recovery should get me back to a fat burning mode.

I'm off in a few minutes to finish mowing the "lawn" -- a scraggly collection of weeks with a bit of grass thrown in for good measure. But it's primarily green and looks decent when mowed.

Feelix -- I'm glad to hear your body is cooperating with the birthing process. Although there might not be a direct 1:1 relationship with eating PP and natural birth, there has to be some link in that the healthier we are the better our bodies respond.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning Feelix (PUSH!!!!):p
Morning BC!

Beautiful sunny morning here today. Had breakfast outside. The humidity is low-to-none and the temps are in the mid 60s...perfect!

I have planned my meals today, that means I am back on plan. I have to seek out a salad for lunch, but getting a side salad somewhere will be simple. Tonight we need to go to the grocery store because we just don't have any veggies. We have a CRAZY amount of chicken, but nothing to eat with it?? We brought back a dozen ears of corn from Iowa. Whatever GF doesn't eat, we'll cook up and freeze. I don't need any (one ear is 23ecc). I ate so much as a child that I don't necessarily crave it anymore (not yet anyway , we'll see after I COOK it!!).
My workout is a definite as well. GF and I are going to the gym at 4:30. Nice.
I increased the size of my breakfast today so that I could counter any cravings from my long weekend off plan.

7am 3eggs, 2.9oz pork chop, 1lc toast, homemade iced coffee with cream
11am 5.5oz pork chop, side salad with ranch
3:30pm 1string cheese, 30 almonds, iced latte
6:30pm chix breast with cheese and tomato, 1/4c raspberries, kohlrabi
2sf popsicles

Amy, what do you do with kohlrabi?

It's a great morning. I did my water workout early and then stayed at the pool and did more on my own--and my muscles are feeling it. Went to the grocery store and refilled my one and only medication (yay--bp was still 124/76 at the doctor's yesterday, so I'm just staying with the fluid pill). Now I'm at work, so I must run--I have a student about ready for me.

Back later...

I pick it
I peel it
I cut it
I eat it.

1 cup, 3.5ecc

I like them raw, although I did see something about "creamed kohlrabi"?? I like the crunch of them, and they are almost as lc as celery! I love that as well!

I did see this recipe (http://www.leighcourtfarm.org.uk/page6/page64/page68/page68.html)I might have to try...

Baked Kohlrabi

Ingredients

6 cups fresh kohlrabi, diced
1/3 cup sour cream
1 egg
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method

Boil kohlrabi in water until tender.

Drain and let cool.

In blender or food processor, puree kohlrabi.

In separate bowl, mix sour cream, and eggs.

Add salt, pepper, and allspice.

Add kohlrabi to egg mixture and incorporate well.

Pour into buttered baking dish.

Place baking dish in pan half full of water

Bake in 375ºF oven for 30-40 minutes.

According to fitday.com the total for the entire recipe is:
Pro: 22
Ecc: 25
Fat: 22
Cal: 456

You betcha!
1. No more acid reflux
2. No more brain fog from sugar
3. Not needing diabetic meds
4. Freedom from food addiction
5. Getting my self-esteem back

...and all the good feelings those conditions bring. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm still overweight, but I've made a lot of progress.

My gym bag is packed and ready.

Breakfast was a strawberry protein shake with supps. Lunch was leftover chicken wings and some cheddar cheese with a V-8. Dinner will be pot roast.

Silly me...I thought it would be EASY to find a side salad...
I'm wrong...:peeved:

So I bought a chef salad. I ate the lettuce, 1/2Tbsp of carrot shreds , 3 cherry tomatoes, and my pork chop.
I saved the 2oz of meat and 2oz of cheese to eat right before my workout.

So did I. Pot roast and green beans for dinner. Got to the gym and found out that some people were actually concerned that I had stopped coming! How sweet. It's not like we're into chatting and hanging out. Mostly we smile and nod and do our stuff. Anyway, the trainer/owner knew I was camping.

Carol, don't you think that makes a HUGE difference? When people actually MISS you at the gm when you are gone??

WATERMELON question for you pros....

Before I realized it today I ate a big bowl of watermelon, I looked up watermelon and it has 11 carbs for 1/2 cup... I think I ate 3 cups :eek:
What did I do....

Well, Suzi, basically you checked after you ate it rather than before! ;)

Make sure you get enough protein today and watch out for the munchies that might derail you for the next two or three days. Are you normally following the PP suggestion of 30-40 ecc's a day? Have you read the book?

Hi Carol,

I do have the book and I have almost finished it... I keep going back to review and take notes it is alot to take in. My daily goals are 60 grams protein and no more then 30 grams of carbs. (Phase 1) I have a journal I write everything I eat.

Wonderful, Suzi. You'll learn as you go, like with the watermelon. My only thought is that 60 g of protein seems a bit light for a minimum.

Suzi, just as Carol already said...don't eat it until you've checked the counts! Especially with fruit!!

But, it's done, so move on...

I find planning ahead is VERY helpful. Every day I tell you all what I'm going to eat, I document it in fitday.com, and then i KNOW what I am eating and what the counts are.

Suszi -- I love fruit and when first starting PP, made a list of the ones I could eat along with amounts, that were under 10 ECC. There's not many, but knowing ahead of time which I could eat helped a lot.

Not trying to tempt you, but the newer PPLP book sets the daily ECC at 40, but still 7 - 10 grams per meal or snack. That might give you a bit more leeway.
