I won't tell you what they are, but the doc thinks I have a genetic problem.

Does anyone here know about transient hypercholesterolemia? In the two weeks before I had my blood drawn, I was consuming 6-8 eggs a day, which comes out to about 80 or more eggs. In those two weeks I dropped 13 lbs; really I dropped close to ten the first week and more the later week. That's a lot of eggs; but I don't know how much an impact that could have on my totals (its very high; don't ask).

Welcome to the forum. According to the abstract linked below, it can be associated with very low calorie diets, where cholesterol levels first go down then back up. Once a person adds in more calories, the cholesterol level goes down again. Protein Power is very low carb in the correction stage, not very low calorie, so I doubt you will have the same difficulty. If you haven't read Protein Power or Protein Power LifePlan, I suggest you do so as it will answer most of your high cholesterol questions.
