:)Hello as a newie to this site please can I ask another question on how much weight you have individually all lost during the 1st 4 weeks of doing the PP way of eating. As I have not started yet but will be in the next 10 days as I am still doing Lighter life I am trying to get my head around how much you can expect to loose. My plan would be to do the phase 1 for the first 4 wks and up the carbs possibly after that period of time. So if you can please supply me with some figures I would be grateful. Also, I do appreicate that we are all different so this will vary. Many thanks

Hard to say. Do not know the Lighter Life system, so don't know if you are glycogen dumped or not.
I have lost as many as 17 lbs in the first month. That was as a 6'2" male, 265 lbs, <35, not coming off another diet. There's a lot of water and bound carb in someone like that. The amount of water bound to glycogen can drastically alter how much you lose.
After that period, I will generally average about 1 lb/week, tapering as I approach goal.
Not enough information to be able to tell you what to expect.
And even if we had more info...no one can predict what you will/won't lose in the first month (or the second, or the 14th!).
Your body is totally different from anyone elses...
Just try the plan and then tell us the results...
Now, yes typically people do drop their excess water weight in the first few days, but even that is assuming you HAVE some water weight...
Just try it...

I've been PP'ing since February, 2007, and in that time I've lost 50 lbs. But I was already doing other diets before that and so my initial weight loss was not all that dramatic.
Now, I've noticed that weight loss becomes more difficult as you reach your goal. I'm a 57 year old male, 5'10", and eat about 1,800 - 2,000 Kcals a day, 30 ECC (that's "effective carb count" or total carbs minus fiber). My diet is about 19% carbs, 31% protein, and 49% fat. I also exercise regularly, using the Slow Burn method.
Anyway, I've lost as much as 2 lbs a week in the past doing this but now that I'm down to 171 lbs and only 6 - 8 lbs from my goal weight I have not lost a pound in the past four weeks. I'm not fretting about it as I know that this will change. However, I will need to lower my total energy consumption by about 200 to 300 Kcals a day for a couple of weeks and see what happens.
Hope this helps.

warning - my opinion only - but you asked
I don't get it. Either you have read PPLP and think this is a plan that you will stay on long term or you don't. If you only have 1 month left to your goals, stay with what you are doing.
.
If you have more than 1 month left to your goals, you shouldn't think about "carb-ing up" after only 4 weeks - or at least you don't call it being on PPLP - because the plan calls for you to stay on the low end of the spectrum until you are done and all your issues are resolved or controlled.
you will lose whatever fat weight the math dictates that you will based on your overall caloric deficit. Depending on what you were eating and doing before the start, you might also lose some water weight if you were bloated or had inflammation or are dumping glycogen - how much varies but it doesn't really matter because it isn't really fat weight.

FWIW: I agree with everything LisaS said.

To answer your question about what we have lost individually. The first time I did PP, I was not coming off of another diet. I had started excercising about a month before starting it. When I started following the program I did <30 carbs per day. I lost 6 lbs the 1st week and 3 the second. I think I totalled 18 my first month to 6 wks. After that, I lost more slowly. I lost a total of 27 or 28 lbs.
The second time I started it, I was doing yoga and keeping my carbs at <30, and I lost 20 in about 8-10 weeks.
I did not stop the induction phase after the first 4 weeks. When I reached my goal the first time, I let carbs creep back in to my diet which was bad and wrong for me. Hence the reason I need to start over and lose nearly 100 lbs now.

Everyone is different, everyone eats differently, each one has different weights to lose - in other words - no one can determine what another will lose. How closely you stick to it differs - and different bodies act differently to different plans, adjustments, etc.
