Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum but have lost some weight on Atkins and regained it. So I'm starting over and I really have to stick with it because I can no longer tolerate gluten according to my doc. I believe it and I've diagnosed myself with leaky gut syndrome. I went on Dr. Eades protocol for healing a leaky gut yesterday. Pain is a lot better today but it is really hard to stick to just shakes and glutamine! Has anyone else done this? I think I might manage 3 days. Encouragement welcome!

Shakes can be tough, flowerlady, but hang in there--you can do it. Take a look at Hawk's journal; she has to do a very strict version of PP, and that may inspire you. The stage you're in won't last forever.
Welcome in!
I'm sorry I don't have a lot of words of wisdom...just wanted to welcome you!!

Thanks for the encouragement Gaelen. It is just what I needed to hear. By the way, I looked for Hawk's journal but couldn't find it. Gloria

Welcome, Flowerlady :). I'm sure you can hold out for three days - and then there'll be real food again! I hope it will be worth it for you to improve the pain.

Thanks for the welcome & encouragement. I didn't make the 3 days. I was allergic to something in the shake but it was a fresh start and I'm keeping track of what agrees & what causes pain. I read part of Hawk's journal and you're right, Gaelen, she is inspirational. Good luck everyone in the quest for better health.

Flowerlady, be aware that there are different types of protein powder with different additives and protein bases. I buy Isopure Zero Carb Whey protein and when I was in GNC I asked about the store brand that was considerably less expensive. The clerk said "I can't eat that stuff, it gives me stomach cramps. Don't buy it."
If you do some research, you may find a protein powder that is gluten-free and will suit your body. Shakes are so handy! Here's a link (http://www.glutenfreeforum.com/lofiversion/index.php/t19745.html) I found with an interesting conversation that might be helpful.
