This is what Im having today. Does this look okay??? I read the book, but Im still a bit unsure.

B - 2 eggs with butter, 2 egg whites, 5 cherries, 2 glasses of water
s - 1oz of peanuts, 1 glass of water
l - 40z tuna, hellmans mayo, 1/2 medium cucumber, 2 glasses of water
d - 4 oz of chicken wings, 1/2 med. cucumber, 2 glasses of water
s- 1 oz of light hard cheese, 5 cherries, 1 glass of water

I counted the carbs at 21.2 I figure im a little bit more due to the eggs..but still under 30.

1. I read the book and I do know my minimum protein intake should be around 61.2 grams...is it okay if I go over that amount everyday?? For example, eating 75 grams everyday? Right now I do feel hungry..but Im holding out because im not too sure.

2. Can I have a protein shake? Im craving something chocolatey sweet. The book does mention moderation (if i remember correctly)One scoop of protein contains 25 grams of protein and two carbs. But, it also contains 26mg of sucralose. What do you think?

3. I find eggs really keep me full...is it possible for me to have an egg cream?

Thanks:)

Hi, canuck--welcome in.

It all looks fine. You're well under 30g ECC, so you could include some more veggies with that tuna, those chicken wings, even with your eggs.

Yes, and if you're hungry, definitely up your protein.

I think if you tolerate sucralose (the ingredient in Splenda), then go for it. If you have issues with sucralose, there are other low carb protein powders that don't contain it. Go for it. Protein shakes can be your very good friends (lots of recipes for them in the PP Kitchen forums.)

3. I find eggs really keep me full...is it possible for me to have an egg cream?

Absolutely--go for it.

Yep...I totally agree with Gaelen.

You may feel hungry initially just because your body is getting use to eating differently. Try to determine if your ACTUALLY hungry, or your stomach growling is just cause your body is learning something different.

Thank you Ammy & Gaelen for being so helpful! I think my stomach is growling because it craves the sugar.

Yep, I remember that...and it lasts a couple days...but then the growling stops and you feel like someone has filled you with energy...or atleast that is what happened to me!!
Keep us posted as to how you're doing!

Great start! To help with the grumblies, I would recommend you add a medium sized salad to lunch and supper or around 5 grams of LC veggies. There's lots to choose from, and it will help fill you up. Cucumbers are not the best choice nutrition-wise (although I eat a lot of them because I love them too).

I usually drink a protein shake every day -- either for breakfast with a few berries blended in or a cappuchino-chocolate one in the afternoon using the left-over coffee. It not only fills me up, but as you say, the sweetness is satisfying. Everyone has their favourites, but mine is Dr. Walkers Diet available from Vitacost. It blends up really thick with only water and has 24 protein, 7 carb, 5 fiber per serving.

I found the protein shakes helped me with this at first. I think it was like tricking my brain into thinking there was sugar.

Oh and you can definitely go above your minimum protein amount each day. If you are truly hungry eat. It is almost impossible to overdo protein. After all how many people do you know that binge/gorge on chicken or fish?

Thanks for all your helpful replies. Im still hanging in there and will keep everyone updated...havent weighed myself yet...and probably will not for another week or so. I can be scale obsessive, so Im training myself to not look at the scale every day.
