View Full Version : Hello I am new to PP

Hi I am new to PP but not new to low carb. I am looking forward to finding my way around the board. It is great to find so much intelligent life in one place. :)
I just found Dr.MIkes blog the day before yesterday while surfing on the net. I was so very impressed and that lead me here. I have gotten a copy of PP and am doing my best to absorb all I need to in order to get started. I need to work out a few menu plans and hope to soon be ready to roll.

Welcome in, Patty...make sure to check May's upcoming challenge; it should help you with those menu ideas!

One suggestion from the original PP book that really worked for me was to look up your favorite things to eat (in a carb counter, or a nutrition book, or journaling software like www.fitday.com) so that you could see how much protein, carbs and fiber they really contained. But after I did that exercise, I had a list of things I knew I could eat, that I already liked. ;)

As for the things where only a taste would fit the recommended protein or ECC--I had a list of those things, too. After being on plan for about a month, I knew enough about other ingredients and prep options that I could do a little experimenting to find the tastiest way to reduce the carbs or boost the protein. Meanwhile, I had my list of 'this works on plan' foods to give me a good shopping list right from the start.
