It's Tuesday, the only day I have to work this week, and I'm only working as long as I need to get payroll and billing done! Then I'm outta here!

I am eating a hamburger and my rutabaga salad this morn..it's good. It's got a bit of a sweet twinge to it, I think it would be great in a Hot German potatoe salad recipe, but I don't know how to make German...only mayo'ie salad. I think my salad is about 5carbs per 1/2 cup serving, but that's a guess.
If you wanted to make it, I used a rutabaga that equaled 4cups when cooked. Chopped it to salad size and steamed it. I added 8 eggs (but you could add more if you want!) and 5 stalks of celery. I mixed up mayo and mustard and added it to the rut/egg/celery. Chilled.
It was so easy and it's yummy!!!
GREAT alternative to potatoe salad IF you like rutabaga.

OH...my avatar is my new patio. We still need to buy our patio table and chairs, but that is what it looks like.

Good morning, all. I feel really virtuous today as I've already had a time of meditation and 20 minutes on the Gazelle. The doctor changed my meds last week and since then have been experiencing muscle weakness -- apparently a fairly common side effect, so 20 minutes was all I could manage. Also experiencing some gastro-intestinal side effects -- not pleasant!

Amy -- love your patio. Did you use sand or cement to fix it in? I've done several in the past with sand and could never get the darn things to stay level. Hope your's does well.

Another doctor appt. this morning, then off to the library to see what new books-on-tape have come in. It's lovely to listen to books while I make Prayer Beads. Then I have to clean out all the kitchen drawers due to an influx of mice. I actually like the little critters -- just wish they would stay out of the drawers and cabinets. You'd think with two cats ..... But the mice rule this time of year.

Good morning.

I'm enjoying my first day of summer vacation. I do have to teach my SAT class tonight (last one for this cycle). But for now, I'm being lazy this morning.

Breakfast this morning was some leftover bacon and cheese in a wrap. I'm feeling a little "fluidish" this morning, probably due to eating more over the last few days (way too many parties and events). My weight was the same today, so I think I just need a couple of days of more restricted choices to dump some fluid.

Patio looks wonderful, Amy. Do your parents live anywhere near the tornado damage in Iowa?

Sounds like a great start to your day, BC.

Have a good one, everyone!

Eek! Sorry about the mice!!

We did use sand to level it. The nice thing is those brown portions are actually the "green" tiles and are very thin and light. So today, after our rainstorms on Sunday, I can see a few spots that need a bit more leveling, so I just lift up the brown tiles, and pour in a bit more sand! it's that simple!
After this week we'll brush sand over the top to fill in the cracks and help hold everything in place, but not until we know what adjustments will happen in the rain!

The smell (it's a green material made from recycled tires) is pretty much gone. Every once in awhile you get a "whiff", but for the most part the smell is gone!

nah, my parents were a good hour away...
HOWEVER...we had an F3 here in MN Sunday. We went to the movies. We had free tickets to a theatre chain, but there are only 2 in the cities, one north of us, one south.
We chose to go south...there was a tornado near the NORTH one!!
meanwhile we're at the theatre and have NO idea there are tornado's in the twin cities. We come out and are driving home and the closer we got to home, the more trees we see laying down and are CONFUSED as to what is going on...why trees are down??!! It was sunny when we went into the movie, and sunny when we came out...It was odd!!

By the way, we saw IronMan and it was GOOD!!

It's Tuesday, the only day I have to work this week, and I'm only working as long as I need to get payroll and billing done! Then I'm outta here! Have a good trip and don't go near tornadoes! Thanks for the glimpse of your new patio, and for the rutabaga recipe. Grandma always called it beggy.

You'd think with two cats ..... But the mice rule this time of year. Hi, BC. IMHO, mice rule any time they want to! I usually listen for them in the fall, though. When it starts getting cold. Haven't had one in my kitchen for quite a while. I hate that!

I'm enjoying my first day of summer vacation. Already??? Well, you earned it. :slywink: Hope you feel better!

My boss is funny! He's so afraid of getting the blame for something (anything) that he has an accusatory tone to his voice out of habit. I'm glad I figured that out, because I'm quick to react to that kind of thing and now I can stay calm.

Breakfast was a sausage patty but I was hungry and hypo three hours later so I added a sf hot chocolate. Lunch was a slice of meatloaf, 2 oz cheddar, and a piece of Lindt 75%. Dinner will be roast beef, asparagus and broccoli.

Whew, I'm glad I had my lunch already because they just came by and offered me a catered meal left over from a meeting. Hungry as I was, I would probably have taken it and then be tempted by the carby parts.

Life is good!

Good for you, Carol! Your menu sounds better anyway, at least from my experience with catered meals! I prefer home cooking every time. :)

Ammy, that patio sounded like a lot of work, but it sure looks nice !! You all will have lots of good times out there, I'm sure.

Just got back from Pt and I am really tired. I always am tho, when we get back from the trail ride. It's fun , lots of fun, but at the same time it wears you out.

Then I had to go in and have another test on my potassium. (The third one) So far they haven't been good, and the 2nd one was worse than the first. What is going on. Here I was so proud of my lipid panel results and can't even enjoy that because of the darn potassium level. Hopefully, this one will turn out a little better. If not I am done with tests and want to see someone who deals with this .

Glad you all weren't in the northern part of the city when the tornado hit , Ammy, I thought of you when I heard about the ones in St. Paul and also in Iowa, since you are from there.

Well, I have a few things to get done so I better get out of here. See every one later.
