I started the Protein Power diet 2 weeks ago. The first week was fine and I lost some weight. But at the beginning of the second week I got strong pain and burning in my knees and hips. It was so strong that I had to quit the program. My doctor does not know what it is. He just gave me a painkiller.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? What could the reason for this joint pain be?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Welcome, hrodax.
Joint pain, for me, comes from too high an intake of gluten...but depending on your menus, that might not be an issue following PP.
It can also result from sensitivity to arachidonic acid...here's an explanation from the Drs. Eades about AA sensitivity:

Hrodax, have you started or stopped any meds or supplements lately? Are you eating any kind of food that you wouldn't normally eat? I'd look in that direction. Everyones reaction to those things are highly individual.

Just some personal experience that might help you--or not. I, too, have had episodes of joint pain and burning, not diet related at all.
I changed how I was sitting at my computer and actually developed numbness with tingling and burning pain down the outsides of my thighs and then my knees. I changed back to how I sat before. I sit a long time every day as I am a medical transcriptionist and have to type. Changing positions was a great help. The final change I did was upping my water intake and that coincided with the symptoms disappearing. I had read some anecdote about water hydrating the spine that might be pinching a nerve--don't know if it was true, just know that upping the water and the last of the symptoms disappeared at the same time.
Somethings you might consider.

What about Sugar? I would think that you would be consuming very little sugar. Sugar can cause join pain also.
