Can anyone recommend a cookbook with
1. Low-carb recipes
2. Basic simple classic french cooking
3. Few ingredients
4. Only simple basic (real food) ingredients
5. NO special products such as soy, Splenda, protein powders, Atkins Bake Mix,, Somersize sweetener, ThickenThin, fructose, etc etc…
6. Stove-top and microwave cooking only
My cookbook by Patricia Haakonson, All New Easy Low-Carb Cooking is wonderful except for her use of Splenda (the taste of which I find revolting) and BBQ-ing.
I hope someone has a good recommendation.
Thank you in advance

Passion for Protein by Henry Harris is real food in a sort of French tradition (he runs a restaurant called Racine - French for "root"). It doesn't use soy or splenda, but some of the recipes are cooked in the oven, and none specifically calls for microwaving. Some of the recipes from the book are given here (http://www.chefs-help.co.uk/specialindex.php?type=Low%20Carbohydrate). It may be a bit fancier than you're looking for, but it's a very good book.

You might check out the cookbooks listed in this thread discussing favorite cookbooks:

The cookbook I think would most fit your requirements is one of my favorites, published quite awhile ago (before there were too many specifically low carb manufactured products) -- Fran McCullough's "The Low Carb Cookbook." Paperback, no pictures, but absolutely reliable recipes that don't depend on anything else but regular foods.
Thanks Gaelen! I just ordered it from Amazon.com for $.11 plus shipping!
Got my cook book! You're right, it is simple easy recipes!! I was looking through it last night and came upon a recipe for cauliflower potato salad...which I had JUST made by "winging it"! I saw some ingredients I hadn't thought of adding!
Thanks for the heads up Gaelen!

While peddling on the bicycle at the gym I discovered “French Food at Home” with Laura Calder (on the Food Network). http://www.foodtv.ca/frenchfoodathome/ (http://www.foodtv.ca/frenchfoodathome/). The recipes are all easy, with few ingredients.Being French style cooking, they are mostly low-carb.
I just got the cookbook http://www.amazon.com/French-Food-Home-Laura-Calder/dp/0060087722/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212583483&sr=1-1
and it is WONDERFUL except for a few lapses into potatoes and pasta.
