My name is Alicia, and I live in Oklahoma. I am a mother to five, grandmother to nine so far, and wife to one. I also have 15 furbabies: 4 pampered Pomeranians and 11 coddled cats.
I am starting the Protein Power plan tomorrow morning at 5am. I already have most of the food prepared so that I can grab it and go to work by 6:30. I'll weigh in to help determine my minimum protein requirement too. I will be recording everything I eat on Fitday.
I also got The Slow Burn Revolution, and have bought my weights, etc. I plan to do it on Saturdays since that is the only day I don't have to leave home.
I hope it is OK that I posted here. I will join everybody for the monthly challenges, but didn't want to wait for a new month to begin. I have about 100 lb. left to lose. I lost 60 lb. in 2007 and have kept 55 of it off... yeah! I never reached out for support before, but I am ready to do that now. I would love to be at my goal weight by 2009!
THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE!!!!!!!!!! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!!!!!!

How did you lose the original weight--on low carb or another route? Good job of keeping it off , that isn't easy either .
Post often and again--welcome .

Welcome, Alicia! You can join the current challenge any time; we're not terribly formal. It's always nice to have a new person among us. We're here to offer support to each other.

Thanks for your replies, Karole and Carol! I appreciate the welcome!!!
I lost the first 60 lbs. in kind of a crazy way that doesn't work for me anymore. One week or so, I would follow the rules of one diet, and the next week (to keep from getting bored), I would follow the rules of another diet. I weighed 285 at the time, and just about any diet worked for me in the beginning. It did take me a year to lose the 60 lbs. though, and I just didn't lose any more, plus have gained some back. I thought just 5 lbs. but when I weighed in this morning for my day 1 of Protein Power, I have gained back 15 lbs.! So I am starting at 240.2, and am hoping to get back down to the 225 I ended the year weighing last year by the end of my first month -- 6/19/08.
How long have each of you been following the Protein Power Plan? Do you do The Slow Burn Revolution workout? I am ready to begin it, other than I need to read through each of the exercises to make sure I understand what I will be doing. I will probably wait until Saturday to actually do it.
Well, time to get to work... more this afternoon or evening!

Hi, again, Alicia !! I am a returnee to PP as I originally started in Jan. of 03, lost 32 pounds and went on a cruise only to never get myself back together until Jan. 07. This go round I have lost 45-47 lbs (I bobble around a bit) and I plan to stay on maintenance forever as that was my downfall before (maintenance was harder for me than the losing).
I think the most I ever lost in one month was 8 lbs and some months it was only 4, but I try to think of it as "the rest of my life" lifestyle, so the speed of loss isn't as important as learning to eat properly. Actually when I focus on all the good foods I can have, it is an awfully good place to be.
To top it off, I recently learned my lipid panel tests were the best they've been in many, many years. I'm so thankful for this place and all the great support I have received.
Welcome Alicia!!
As you can see from my footer, I have lost and maintained 116lb!! I did it with PP. I have about 20 more I'd like to lose, but if my body is happy here, I can live with that! :D
I have never done slow burn, but many people here have!
Again, WELCOME!!!
