Good morning!!
I'm sitting in bed with the laptop. I just recorded my food for the day and now I'm saying hello to y'all! I was watching the last bit of the Everest Storm show last night from pbs, so the laptop is close at hand.
I LOVE my laptop!!
Meals are mostly planned, supper is somewhat up in the air but I made my best guess. Exercise is planned. I start physical therapy on Friday for my knee...I'm curious what that will bring? I was reading about osteoarthritis last night and the thing that stung the most is the fact that it typically hits people over 50 (I'm 36). I read that AGE is number one determining factor, and WEIGHT is number two. I'm glad I read that because although my doctor told me that losing the weight was great and helpful, she didn't associate the two...the fact that losing weight can alleviate a MAJORITY of the pain, or atleast put off the deterioration.
8am 2eggs, 3sausage links, 1/2oz cheese, 1/2c oj, 1lc bread
11am big salad with bl olives, cukes, egg, cheese, almonds, no carb dressing
3:30 iced latte, 2laughing cow cheese, 2 bran crackers
walk dogs
6:30 dble cheese burger, caesar salad

Ecc: 39

Good morning! Next 'puder I buy is going to be a laptop, but it's going to be a while. I'm jealous!
I've also read that about osteoarthritis, which I have. I haven't lost enough weight this time around yet to test it, though. Could it be that your former weight superceded your age? My GP has been fairly useless for information or any plan of action. Next step for me is to find an osteopathic sports medicine doctor who will actually work with it before he offers surgery. Meanwhile, I'm building up leg muscles and taking supplements. I did find a source saying the quads are what keep your knees in line.
I'm excited that my fasting bs was only 108 this morning. That's the lowest it's been since I quit the med four days ago.
Breakfast was a protein shake. Lunch will be a salad of some sort. Dinner may require a trip to the meat market or I can settle for a mushroom cheeseburger.
Have a great day!

Carol, I'm so happy about your morning bs !! I know how happy I was when I could get rid of one of my blood pressure meds, so you must truly be feeling wonderful about these results.
I have a dr. appt. this morning and they'll do the lipid panel so I am very very curious to see what the totals will be. I have been exercising, taking fish oil, lechithin (per your advice) and hopefully it will have made things better than last time--but who knows !! Last go round on PP my total ch stayed high altho my ratios were good.
Ammy, hope the therapy will help you out. It isn't fun to try and do things when it always hurts. I plan to address my hip/back issues with my doc today as well, since the visits to the chiro didn't fully resolve the pain.
So, I am starving since I can't eat breakfast yet, but I did do 10 min. on the glider already.
Have a great day everyone, I'll see ya later.

Good morning, everyone--
Amy, I'm like you. I love my laptop and my wireless internet. But my desktop is an elephant and needs to be replaced. My laptop travels with me through the day. For my next home computer I can't decide whether to buy a desktop or another laptop. There's just something about having my desktop up in the den ...
Food for the day--
Breakfast--vanilla RTD shake
Lunch--SB ham and turkey wraps
Supper--I don't know. It depends on if I get home between school and college.
Must run...chapel's about to start.
Carol, I don't know bs numbers, but you sound happy about 108, so WOOHOO!!!!! :o:D
I have dealt with my knee enough that I skipped my reg Dr and went to an orthopedic sports medicine person. I believe that I had three risk factors against me with this knee issue:
1. weight...320lb of body on a 22 year old woman...not good
2. heredity...my mother and grandfather had the exact same issues
3. joint injury...I hit my knee hard at age 15 and never saw a Dr. It swelled up and turned my entire knee black and blue...it was UGLY! But we just didn't go to the doctor very often, and my small town Dr wouldn't have done anything anyway. (History of Dr: I had tonsillitis twice a year EVERY year since I was 5. At 15 *I* told the Dr to take them out, he hmmm and haaaa'd, and I insisted, I was TIRED OF IT!! Finally he referred me to a Dr who said ABSOLUTELY they should come out, should have years ago...).
So, with those factors, my knees just are what they are. I am curious to find out what they are going to suggest to "straighten out my body mechanics". I'm pretty active, and I move around a LOT, so I wonder what I'm moving incorrectly??
OH, when she was testing me, she felt my butt :o...said I needed to strengthen my butt muscles to help alleviate the pain in my hips...It was funny! Made me laugh!!!
Karole, good luck at the Dr, hope you get your hip/back issues figured out!
RnR...yes, elephant is a good description of my PC as well. It works, but I sit and WAIT WAIT WAIT for it to do ANYTHING. I open the internet, and I turn around and watch TV for about 3 minutes while it opens. Once it opens, it's fine, but it just takes FOREVER for it to finally open. I will keep it around for storage, but want to remove many of the programs on it that are slowing it down. SOOOOoooooo glad to have a laptop!!! :D

I'd be slumped in a chair if I had to wait that long for breakfast! I sure hope your lipids show some improvement. You're doing the right things, but it takes a while to move the cholesterol number. Hope it happens!
For my next home computer I can't decide whether to buy a desktop or another laptop. There's just something about having my desktop up in the den ...Yes, I know. I do a lot of keyboard and mouse work at home with photoshop and I don't think I can actually replace the dinosaur, but the latest version of Elements came out and it's compatible starting with the next version up from my OS.
Carol, I don't know bs numbers, but you sound happy about 108, so WOOHOO!!!!! :o:D . Okay, 90 is what I'm aiming for (never got there yet), 100 is great, 110 is higher than I would like and yesterday it was 127. I'm really hoping it was a rebound from dropping the med, but time will tell.
OH, when she was testing me, she felt my butt :o...said I needed to strengthen my butt muscles to help alleviate the pain in my hips...It was funny! Made me laugh!!!
Hey, one of the first spots I noticed serious improvement to when I started with the resistance was my butt. Still ain't cute, but it's STRONG!
No salads for lunch, but I bought two brisket sandwiches and tossed the buns. Tasty. Everything else was breaded and deep-fried. We're getting down to the end of the school year and they must be cleaning out the freezers.

Funny!!! I actually have a "lack" of butt...It's not flat, but I don't have any "lower pudge" that a girls butt is suppose to have :o.
Maybe the therapy will help me GET a lower butt????!!!! :D:D:D

Squats. This is the cure for nohasitol* syndrome.
Maybe something like MBTs or FitFlops might help you out Amy? Active walking shoes might help the whole fascia, from foot to lower back.

Laptop v desktop.
The solution.
Buy a laptop. Keep your keyboard, mouse and monitor from your existing desktop computer. When you are at home, need to work at your desk, plug in laptop, connect keyboard, mouse and monitor, work as normal. When you want to work from Starbucks, unplug and go to town.
Fun. Solves all problems. Costs nothing more than new laptop. You might want to add an external HD for your home dock as well. Laptop HD's are generally pretty small.
I LOVE my Laptop. Someday in the near future (maybe post move), my desktop is going to become a media center/TiVo type device, and my laptop is going to hook up with my 500gb external drive (and maybe a second one), my existing monitor and keyboard and track ball, and be the computer.

Yeah, but one of the things that really needs to be replaced is my monitor (I still have a CRT ). By the time I buy a flat panel, I'm halfway to a new desktop package. And I'd still have to remember to take my laptop upstairs with me (the memory is a killer for the ancient like me). If I buy a laptop, I'd probably use it just like a desktop, except that I can carry it around the house if I want to.
More drama at school today :(. I'm really ready for the end of the year. I love working with the kids, but some of the nonsense is wearisome.

The way to keep memory from being a killer is to use it. Practice with it. It can be fun. There are fun games you can do for it.

I'm actually here to keep from going crazy over a situation here. I can't leave because I'm waiting for a call, and I can't get into anything productive because the call could come at any moment.

Be careful with squats though, because they're not good if you have collapsed arches. (I think it was Mary who said that was a problem, not Amy, but anyway, just another factor to consider ;). )
No Mitra, it's me as well.
I don't do squats because my knees make too much noise. The last time I went in for PT he told me not to do it.

No, with iffy knees and collapsed arches, squats probably aren't what you need to be doing, even to get a cute bottom ;). What about superman stuff? Maybe Shadow can advise ?
MY PT had my sliding up and down a wall...therefore working the muscles, but not straining the knees with the weight of my body...???
I go to PT tomorrow, so we'll see what NEW and IMPROVED things I get THIS time!!
I'm off to walk the pooches!!

Hi, everyone,
I have a flat butt, but oh, such a round apple shape in the front, though exercise tapes, my waist is getting smaller, so is it.
I was excited today. Scale moved again to the lowest it's been since I have been on the PP plan. :slywink:
Still in the size smaller pant, it is looking looser (and better).
Have a great day, all.

Good afternoon, all. Well the echo and stress test are over -- thank heavens. I couldn't believe all the waiting that went on -- that and I couldn't eat or drink anything until around noon. They gave me a regular Pepsi and a package of peanut butter crackers. Neither of which I could eat/ drink. You'd think a cardiologist's office would have non-caffeine drinks on hand. I had taken a commerical low carb bar with me and settled on water to drink.
Obviously not on plan foodwise today and am definitely not doing the Gazelle. I do plan on a period of meditation in an hour or so.
Glad to read folks are having a good day. :)

Great successes all the way around, it seems!
So, didn't end up having to work at the college tonight because exams are over. I'm now on my patio, listening to the waterfall in the pond and the birds chirping--the joys of wireless internet!
My supper ended up being chicken salad made with tequila lime salsa, jalapeno ranch dressing, and some mayo. Yummm...
I have a test to finish typing, so I'd better run.

How inconsiderate!!!!:eek: You would think that they could offer something more substantial than that. I know that there are probably just as many people who drink Diet Pepsi as regular Pepsi. Well, I hope your tests come out well.

I agree, but at least I had something "legal" to munch on. Even before I lowcarbed, I didn't eat peanut butter crackers -- just empty calories.
I think that was REALLY thinking BC, to bring the bar with you! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!
After a surgery once, I woke up and was IMMEDIATELY hungry. All they had was juices and saltines, and I didn't plan ahead, so I ended up eating them...at the moment though, the crackers were EXACTLY what I needed-and instant blood sugar fix...Im not a juice fan, so I turned that down and had water.
But I wanted saltines again for DAYS after...sucked!!
