Even if I'm not around the rest of the week, I thought I'd do my part and start the thread. It's the least I can do. Happy Mother's Day to you! I hope you are spending valuable time with your family today. If not, take time to give them all a call and ask how they are doing and tell 'em you miss them! Make the most of all your days. You never know what will happen. Live and love life to the fullest. Make room in your heart for the little things in life. Those are the things that are the best. Smell the cool, fresh spring air. Feel the cold grass between your fingertips. Rub the bark on a rough tree. Feel the rich soil and the rain on your face. The beauty of life is there for you to experience. Enjoy it to the fullest. It makes life a little easier to live. The pain and suffering bearable. Take a look at the beautiful blue sky and the fluffy white clouds. Take time to look for a shooting star or a jet with it's blinky lights in the night sky. It's all there - just look for the experience. It is yours for the taking.
I wish you all a most wonderful and joyous Mother's Day!

Hi Sharon, my kids are coming over a little later today so that will be fun. Hope everyone has a great Mother's day also.
I enjoyed a 25 min. walk earlier this morning and also a session with my relaxing tape. Felt very nice. I meant to take it with me to the trailride so I could get my meditation/relaxing going while there, but I forgot to put it on my list so of course I forgot it. Oh well, there is plenty of month left.
Sunday: at least 1hr dog walk (forgot to check the time when we left), then another 30 min with another dog.

Exercise for the day was , well-- work. I did a lot of heavy duty cleaning this morning, even including some window washing (accckkk.)
Then I did the glider for 10 min. but got interrupted by company.
Just now came up from the barn where I cleaned out a very large horse stall that hadn't been cleaned for ages. That worked everything, I promise , Shadow. Whew. I'm done for the day.
Oh yes , and I did sandwich a meditation session in this morning as well, so all is good.

Last yesterday--first today !!
I just completed 10 min. Solution --flexibility and 10 Min. Solution --upper body for a total of 20 min. Arms are tired but feel good too.
Now I must go to the grocery store and Wal mart. I am out of everything.

Hello! I never got to the 'puder last night. The Geezer issued a dinner invitation to a friend of ours whose wife is visiting the grandkids. Needless to say, I went the extra mile. Luckily the house was still clean from Mother's Day guests. Anyway... I stopped at the gym last night feeling wimpy. I backed off the weights five pounds and took it easy on the bike. I didn't use the treadmill because I still wasn't walking well.
Today, I'm walking smoothly and comfortably. Must have been the weather again.
Bag is packed for today's trip! :)
Sunday: at least 1hr dog walk (forgot to check the time when we left), then another 30 min with another dog.

Carol - Maybe your body appreciated the break from the treadmill and the easier workout, too ;). No matter why it happened, though, I am glad the walking is better today!
Amy - And just how LARGE were they ?????
Large enough to stress my muscles....please, please can I count it as an upper body workout??
Okay, wait...one is big, but unbelieveably strong...a springer spaniel that hadn't been outside all day.
The other is an irish wolfound - lab mutt, he's BIG!

Springer spaniels are very strong  and Irish wolfhounds definitely are big dogs . So... if you really felt it, then I suppose you have my blessing ;)...

Hello everybody!
I'm really sorry that I've missed Sharon with my congratulations on that scale movement:o. Well, will have to wait until she will be back.
Here in Paris we have a really sunny, summer-like weather recently, which means it is way too hot for me. For the first time I prefer writing my dissertation to - let's say - bathroom or window cleaning (and not other way round) :slywink:. (Mind, I'm not saying that it looks as if I get to the end line one day.) However, I try to stick to my workouts even if I don't feel like doing cardio at all and keep everything at a very low impact level.
Sunday - Warm up (vacuuming vigorously:D) + 10 min Solution Thighs + some chest exercises
Monday - Callanetics Legs (+/- 20 min) + Abs
Tuesday - stationary bike (10 min) + 10 min Solution Arms; evening: Callanetics Legs
Adina - Changing our schedules benefits the body AND the mind ;). For basic choreography and low impact, I think you might like Kari Anderson's GO Step. The majority of her choreography is too tough for me, but that's one that's pretty easy to learn. It's also broken into 2 sections so you can do shorter days or longer days. I also have a Gilad tape that's basic step - I don't remember the name, but it was only available in VHS. The down side is that both of those workouts use a step. And while you can do them without the step, that's a bit too confusing for this choreography-challenged person !
Thank you for your suggestion, Shadow. I've checked Kari Anderson's video but after seeing it I have to say that honestly I'm not very fond of (even an idea of:o) step. I seriously doubt I would stick with the workout. On the other hand, I think that Gilad could be an option, even if usually the aerobic impact is mixed (which scares me a lot) the choreography is basic which is fine with me - I am tempted by Gilad in Jerusalem. I've also bought Elle Macpherson - The Body Workout (with Karen Voight), there are three aerobics sections - it looks like a very good one. I will let you know.
Amy - springer spaniels are so lovely, aren't they? You know, I married a guy with a cat and she has finally adopted me... but deep inside I am a dog lover! (Please, don't tell my cat, though, I can lose my place as her personal servant:eek:.)
Springer spaniels are very strong  and Irish wolfhounds definitely are big dogs . So... if you really felt it, then I suppose you have my blessing ;)...
I did feel it!!
Hey, when I start physical therapy, can I count that as my workout???
(man do I push it around here )

Winslow (springer spaniel) is a BEAUTIFUL dog...LOVE him. He's absolutely nuts. When we walk, he always gets twice the amount of walk because he spends the entire walk going side to side on the sidewalk so he can get a good look and smell of everything!!
The irish wolfhound pulls for half the walk, then calms down...until we see another dog. They she goes CRAZY!! and pulls me down the sidewalk toward the dog. It gets a bit scary...but I have handled it so far...
Shadow

Yes, Amy, you do tend to push it - but you startle me when you don't ! Winslow sounds like an adorable dog! Like Adina, I have a cat - but I am a dog lover at heart .
Adina - No worries because step is definitely not for everyone :). The important thing is that you find something you enjoy doing! I think Gilad has a cardio tape without a step but I don't have it. It runs in my mind it comes as a package with some resistance work or otherwise I would ;). Please do let me know how you like your new workout!

Just finished another bout with the 10 Min. Solution dvd. I did 10 min. core work and 10 min. lower body work today. It was hard and I do worry about doing something to my back again. I want to build up my back muscles tho, as it is the only way I will keep my spine in place .

It is hard!!!! I would love to eat some different things while not at home. Try different stuff! I'll just keep the "different stuff" low carb and I'll be okay.
Amy, I have seen many of those dogs and I would say you have your hands full. Just be careful you don't keep pulled down to the cement. Those dogs can do some serious pulling if allowed.

I'm sitting here watching tv. Waiting for DH to get ready. Bottle of water and some nuts to tide me over until dinner. I can't wait to get around and see what Louisville has to offer other than rain. I saw the bridge over the Ohio river at dawn and it was beautiful. All the blues and pinks cutting through the fog on the river. I wish I had had my camera. It would have made a great picture. I'll try to stop in and and "see" ya all tomorrow!

We found a very cool restaurant to eat at last night. It's called Mark's Feed Store!:p The waitress told us that they still have customers talk about how they used to come to this place and get feed for their horses. It was so cute inside. The food was outstanding. I had the ribs, cole slaw and green beans. I was so surprised how much I couldn't eat!!!! I got full so fast. I had 6 little baby back ribs, about 4 TBSP coleslaw, and about 1/2 cup of the green beans. So, I have a lot left for a supper later this week. I was a very good girl. We walked around the WalMart and got a lot of exercise after we ate - so I walked some of it off.
Today, I feel so much better! I am walking with a lot less pain. I hope it lasts because I wasn't walking hardly at all yesterday. Pain level was almost unbearable! I hadn't had that kind of pain in ages. I think all the stress and loss of sleep contributed to the pain. So, I'm really feeling like tearing into today!
I hope you all are M & S!!!! Have a great day!!

Oh, Amy, you have a Wolfhound!! I used to have one years ago - his name was Max, and he weighed about 160 lbs. Stood about 6'3" on his hind legs. Let's face it, HE walked ME, not the other way around :) My saving grace was puppy school - I figured if I was gonna have a dog that was bigger than me, I better learn how to control him. Problem was, he thought he was a "lap dog." HAHA!!!
Wolfhound is not mine...just a dog walking gig.
But you're right, sometimes she DOES walk ME!!

Checking in. :o I did nothing last week. Nothing. But I've been a little active this week. Little.
Sunday: Day off.
Monday: Nothing.
Tuesday: Full body resistance workout.
Wednesday: Nothing.
Thursday: 20 minute Windsor Pilates workout.
Friday:
Saturday:
I've discovered that I'm bored. That's why I grabbed the Pilates DVD. I would've done the longer one, but it was already 9:40pm when I got around to it. The last time I tried Pilates, I wasn't doing any other workouts, and I really didn't do it long enough to feel the benefits. Certain moves were quite difficult! It's still a challenge, but it was much easier this time. Of course, that was only the 20 minute workout. I know the hour long one would still kick my butt. I'll have to try that one next. ;)

If that dog is hauling on you, I'd switch off. I even do that when I'm running the vaccuum cleaner! Better for your back. Anecdotally: my aunt was a great bowler and developed back problems so the doctor told her she could bowl if she bowled with both arms at once. :p
I went to the gym last night and tried the treadmill again before I left. I got about seven minutes of slow, smooth walking before I started to feel some discomfort, so I quit. I'm walking very well today. This is like a science experiment!

Thats the only way to do it--stop when it becomes uncomfortable. Maybe next time you will get in a longer time before it hurts, but if you had kept on going last night it might have done some injury that would have sidelined you for a long time , and that wouldn't be good at all.
I did a 10 Min. Solution dvd for flexibility and another 10 Min. Solution for upper body this morning. I plan to go for a walk later today. That way I have a little resistance and a little aerobic--best of both worlds !!
Ammy, keep those arm work outs even--if you don't trade off, one may get longer ---instead of stronger !:eek:

Tresses - First of all, I'm very happy to finally see you this week ;)! Second of all, a rest week is not the end of the world, so chin up!
