Okay, gang, the new week has begun! Let's get to moving it !
I will apologize in advance if I missed anyone who posted after the last time I visited last week's thread ;).
Mary - So glad your mojo is coming back :D!
Karole - How wonderful DH walked with you !
Sharon - Sometimes when I am really sore, what helps the most is to do some light resistance. It seems to help break up the lactic acid :).
Tresses - So glad you could do a drive-by :D!
Carol - Whatcha got going on this week :)?

Okay Shadow, I'll give that a try! But, I really did a stupid thing yesterday. :o I was in a hurry to get in the house (because it was raining), and I slipped and fell inside the doorway. Landed on my knees and then hit pretty hard with my left shoulder. :( I don't feel too bad today, though. Maybe it threw everything back in place!!! :D It shook me up a little, got a few bruises, but, I guess I'll live.:razz:
I am ready to get back on the exercise trail on Monday. ;)
Nice to see you hear today! I hope you have a nice Sunday!!
How is everyone else doing? I hope really well!

Carol - Whatcha got going on this week :)?
:D ;) I'm slowly forming a schedule for exercise. I'm shooting for four days during the workweek. If I have to skip one, I'll bring in one of the weekend days.
Day 1: Upper body (bike, lat pulldowns, abs, crunch, bicep curls, arm extensions, treadmill)
Day 2: Lower body (bike, adductor/abductor, leg press, calf stretch, treadmill)
Day 3: Upper body
Day 4: Lower body
It's hard not to do it all every day but I try to imagine my resting muscles burning that fat!
DH is going to get my bicycle out of the shed in case I want to get out into the real air. I put on about three miles on the stationary bike and I'm pretty sure my knees are ready. It's not the pedaling, it's the hopping down that was scary last year. I told him to get his own bike out as well.

Well I feel like I was run over by a truck today. Don't know if I got a virus or I did too much or the ants got me or some combination of the above. At any rate, I think I need a day or two off to recover. I think I'm going to aim for 4 days a week too.

DH & I took a good walk this afternoon with the dogs - he did about a mile and I kept going for another mile with the most hyperactive dog - and it felt good to get moving.
This week my goal is to walk 3x and do yoga/resistance work 2x. I'm still working out what that yoga/resistance session will be, I'll post that here when I get it figured out.
It's not a lot, but it's a start. :)
I hope everyone else has a great week!

Hi, Jeri! Glad you peeked in! Starting is the first step to any exercise program. I just took a year off and I'm basically starting again, too. It's a pain to have to go slow and careful, but it has to be done.
Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment after work, so the gym will be later unless he says not to. It's the muscle doctor. Sort of like an in-depth massage.

Sharon - I am so glad you weren't seriously hurt in that fall! Next time it might be easier to get a bit damp ;).
Karole - Hope it was a wonderful ride :)!
Carol - That's a great lineup ! Hope to see you and DH get some good riding in. And as an added bonus, you'll be able to soak up that Vit D at the same time!
Mary - I hope you feel better soon!
Jeri - It's a marvelous start!!! Congratulations on getting underway :D!!!

Thanks, all, for the encouragement!
Carol, I hear you on the doc issue, I hope your visit helps.
I did my custom yoga/strength hybrid workout today at lunch, and boy howdy am I out of shape. A sequence of poses and exercises that should have lasted an hour took 35 min because I just wasn't able to hold them all nearly as long as I should! Plus, those extra lbs do get in the way on some flexibility moves.
In addition to the basic gentle yoga sequence, the strength-specific exercises I worked in a yoga pose called the plank (http://yoga.about.com/od/yogaposes/a/plank.htm), incline pushups (inclined for less work, not more... LOL), upright rowing, lunges, straight leg lifts with ankle weights (knee stuff), crunches, reverse crunches, and a yoga pose called the prone boat (http://www.yogapoint.com/info/naukaprone.htm) (great for back).
About.com had a really interesting set of compound strength moves (http://exercise.about.com/library/blholidaystrength.htm)
that are more than a little beyond me now, but look like a good goal to work toward. I'm also going to check out the two programs LaughingW suggested.
Oops, I've written a novella. You'd think I was procrastinating something at work, wouldn't you?
Shadow

Jeri - What a fantastic workout ! And don't worry about the shorter workout -that's to be expected :). That way you have another goal to work towards, right ;)?

Jeri-I know what you mean about those extra lbs and flexibility poses.
I am feeling better. I had a dog training lesson tonight in preparation for my Canine Good Citizenship test with my Shepherd on Saturday. That was actually kind of physical. Was out with the dog/dogs for over an hour. Kobe got a little attention at the end but mostly worked on Tammy since she's taking the test.

Jeri, I love your attitude! :)
I came home from the doctor all achey and flopped into my chair. DH didn't want to go work out and usually once I'm in my chair, I lose all ambition. After all, there are more days this week to catch up. I thought about how good I feel when I'm done and I took some aspirin, booted my self out to the car and drove to the gym. Did an hour of upper body starting with bike and ending with treadmill.
Oh, the doc is impressed with my new muscle tone. He's the one who introduced me to PP and also the one who told me the gym was going to open. He's like a gift from God in my life. You know, the right place at the right time?

Sharon - I am so glad you weren't seriously hurt in that fall! Next time it might be easier to get a bit damp ;).
Well, I failed to tell you that it wasn't just that I fell because I was running, I fell because we had dumped 5 bags of leaves over the fence and I took too many bags when I went into the house, one came unfolded, got under my foot and the shiny, slippery plastic didn't keep my footing as well as the carpet would have.:o:o:o!!!!!!!!!!!! So, it wasn't so much the rain as it was carrying too many bags.:(
I went to the "Y" yesterday and worked out as hard as I could. But, I could only do .5 mile on treadmill and one set on each machine. I did exercise in the pool for about 40 minutes. I felt so great when I got home!!! About 8:30 I moved my back the wrong way and out popped my lower back. I am in quite a bit of pain throughout my lower back and hip area. I am limping along today!!! Chiro isn't in today so, I'll suffer today and get to the "Y" again tomorrow and see if I can get it back in and if not, I'll make an appointment for tomorrow afternoon and get in and get it fixed.
I feel comfortable moving my ticker today to 153.8 - I've held there for 2 days straight - that's a good sign.
There will be nothing too strenuous planned for today. Just table work. Yesterday, I took some time out to look at plants on the website. We are going to be tearing into our front landscape and ripping it out and putting in some new items this year. I have found some beautiful things that would look so nice in the front of our colonial house. I am thinking of sticking with the theme of blues, purples, pinks and yellow. I think it will look nice against our grey/blue tinged siding. I love the look of the wisteria vine (tree form) and would love to have one. I seen numerous rhododendrons that are beautiful in color and would love to have some butterfly bushes. There are many varieties of day lilies that will help with the yellow in the scheme. I found a little grass called "Elijah Blue" that are soooo cute. Then for a splash of color there is a tall grass called "porcupine" that is yellow spotted that would also be perfect. So many beautiful plants and such little space. I could just plant a forest of all this color. Oh, I can't forget that I have to have lilacs and peonies!!!
Well, time to go. Wish you all a great day!!!

Petra65,
I hope you and Tammy pass your CCC test. Those can be very nerve wracking because you never know what is going to happen!!! I know that my Teddy had a mind of his own and was very stubborn. If he didn't want to sit, he'd go almost and inch from actually sitting and then just stay in that position. That tester would look at him and me and go "Do you know that although he looks likes he's sitting he is actually not touching the ground. I said, "Yes, but, that is how he shows me that he still likes to be a little in control. He's a very stubborn dog." She laughed and said, "Any dog that can be that close and keep that position for that long is okay in my book." She laughed and wished my good luck with such a stubborn mule. He passed but it was something I wouldn't want to have to go through with him again. It was at the Alaskan Malamute National Specialty so, they understood how a Malamute can be. Any Malamute that can do obedience is quite special. It was really funny. This specialty was Teddy's first and he was only 6 months old. The judge was looking Teddy over and ran his hand down Teddy's tail. Teddy took his rear and flipped his tail out of that judges had like "DON'T YOU TOUCH MY TAIL!!!! The judge laughed and said "he loved a Malamute with spunk." Teddy made the final 10 cut, but, just looked too young to win. It was a lot of fun to be in the same ring with my breeder.
Well, I guess that's enough on Teddy.
So, I'll be thinking about you Saturday. Good Luck!!!

Today I went into my Seattle office. I don't drive across, I walk on the ferry and then combo bus/walk to the office - it's 1.5 mi gradually uphill from the ferry to the office. Walking downhill at night from the office to the ferry is super easy, I'm going to add another half mile to it tonight for an even 2 mi. I'd like to be able to comfortably walk the uphill leg though... maybe in a couple of months.
Sharon, I hope your ankle is better soon!
Petra, good luck w/ the CGC. I have a dog I'd love to use as a therapy dog, but she can be a crabby Peke and wouldn't pass CGC. (Which means she probably has no business working in a therapy capacity.)
Carol, congrats on getting out of the house and exercising anyway last night.

You rock Carol !! I was exhausted yesterday after 9 hours on a field trip with 4-5 year old kiddies and when I got home all I could do was fall on the couch almost in a faint. :o You made it to the gym even though you were tired and worn out and that really is a great feat.

Hi, missed yesterday as explained above-- I couldn't gather up the dedication that ms Carol did.
But today I did my 8 Min. in the Morning:
Warm up
Exercise A was: Hamstring Leg Lift 12 reps 4 sets
Exercise B was: Squat 12 reps 4 sets
Cool down
That is it for today, but I still think we'll go for a 30 min. walk this evening.

I did the lower body workout today. I had quite a conversation at work today with a manager who also has a gym routine. She does the whole body every other day at five a.m. There was a time I would get up and out that early, but not any more. We were patting each other on the back for our efforts. ;)

Oh my, we're on page 3 already! :jawDrop:
I woke up yesterday with a "crick in my neck." It occurs to me, at the ripe old age of 42, that I don't really know what that means. Pinched nerve? It's painful, that's all I know. :( It was a little better today, and I thought I might try a workout (today was the scheduled full body resistance), but opted for a 20 minute walk with my daughter instead. I won't quit if I miss a workout. Let me say that again (to myself!): I won't quit if I miss a workout!
OK...so far:
Sunday: Day off.
Monday: Nothing.
Tuesday: 20 minute walk.

Karole - I think that putting up with any child - let alone children - of any age group definitely calls for a rest day ;)!
Mary - Hope today is a much better day!
Carol - The most important thing is that you both found a time of day that works for you ! You both deserve kudos for it!
Tresses - So happy to see you :D! As for the missed workout, you're right... That is no reason to skip the rest of the week. So I'm going to be watching you :slywink:!
Okay - my 5 for the week are complete:
Total body circuits (alternating cardio, lower, upper, abs/core)

Back, shoulders and biceps

I'm back and so far - not too bad. No pain - at least for now. Whew! I thought I'd be heading for the Chiro - but, I seem to have gotten it in. I did all my machines but, only one set of each. I just couldn't get past 2 tenths of a mile on the treadmill. My feet weren't lining up with my knees because of my back so, I just got off. I spent about 45 minutes in the pool and that was great. It did me a lot of good.
Thanks for pulling for me Shadow and Carol. I appreciate it.

I think that even if I would just go and get in the pool on the "off" days it would do me good. It's just about finding time again. I need to get up earlier and that just isn't that easy!!!! I just don't feel like going to sleep until the 11:00 news is over and I get to see the first half hour of Jay Leno. Once Jay retires, it will be easier - I just will watch the news and that's it. :o I just love listening to all the jokes and it helps me relax. I have been getting to sleep by 1:00. Also, not getting up to pee as much since I got off water pill. Maybe one time and then, I'm pretty much a sleep. So, that has improved. (Much better than 2:00 - 3:00 in the morning!:slywink:
I will be starting to take a little stronger dose of Thyroid tomorrow. They stopped making 120 mg. (at least that is what it seems like). I will start taking 2 - 130 mg. The nurse said I probably won't notice a difference but, then again, I think it might help. I'll soon find out. Maybe I'll have more energy!! :p That would be great.
I need to find out if I have a marinade in the closet that doesn't have many carbs in it so I can get this pork, onions, and peppers in it for kabobs. I hope I can find some. I guess I could put some lemon juice and some spices together, mix in a little water and use that. I 've never done it, but, it might work.
It has turned out to be quite a warm day today. In the 80's isn't bad for April!!!

You all kept me on track today! :D
I had the class all day today, with no useful breaks, then came home, fixed dinner and did dishes. At that point (7:30) I was ready to relax, even though I hadn't done anything remotely energetic for the day.
Knowing I wanted to come here and post that I'd followed through was the one thing that got me out the door. Everyone else was watching tv or doing homework, and it was getting a bit twilight out.
I went and walked 2 mi. :)
I live on the side of a hill, a fjord really, and my fairly flat walking route mostly takes me out and back along the side of the hill. If I want to add another half mile, I have to do a long gradual downhill, then a fairly tough uphill back to my house. I tried it once a few months ago - it just about killed me.
So, it's a goal. :)
Thanks for being there as an accountability group - it helps!
Okay, y'all better just sit down...
ready??

I did 20 min fat burn on the bike. It was not what I normally do, but it was a start to get me back in the groove of this strange phenomenon called "working out". Yay, Amy!!! :D You got your groove back!
Just finished my 8 min. work out for the day. Wow , it was harder than the arms have been. Shouldn't be surprised, huh. You'll be pumping those arms easily in no time, Karole. Hope the chiro is in good form today, too. I find that it's sometimes hit or miss.
I'm just really impressed with all of you and your dedication. I'm making progress, too. I noticed on one fitness machine that starts out with knees together, I have a gap between mine now. It used to be a squeeze. I was trying to imagine what I'd do if this board suddenly shut down for some reason. I'm not sure I could keep up the pace without the attagirls from everybody here. I'd probably have to start a blog or a diary.

Carole, you are making great progress. All the little things that everyone else would take for granted adds up to wonderful success that we can relish along the way!!! Even the small accomplishment should make us feel great about ourselves. Because we're doing something for us to make ourselves healthier, stronger, and fitter. In turn, a much happier group of people. It's great that we are able to motivate and cheer each other on. It feels good - and makes us a more tight knit group and closer to each other. When someone feels pain - we are there for comfort. When we lose a pound - it is great to feel wanted and appreciated. When someone is sad or down in the dumps - no one judges - just kind words of support. I love it here. Everyone is SO GREAT!!! I just appreciate everyone of you. LUV YA ALL!!!

It made me want to be "Rocky Balboa" I can hear the theme song playing now. :D I feel so energized. I feel like I can take on the whole world. Such a great exercise high!!! :D I didn't stay in the pool long - about a half hour. But, I packed a lot of movement into that half hour. Just waiting for my hamburger to get done and then, moving on to get some errands done.

Good morning, girlfriend! I am taking a break today. I will do the stretches to keep 'em moving, though. I worked out hard on the abs and the body core yesterday. I finally got to a yoga class last night. It was that stretching class that I missed last week. It uses a ton of props and I have to say it is the one class I have been to where props seem to actually be necessary. It allows you to get into positions that would otherwise be physically impossible. It was okay. Not my favorite class but I would go again.
I'm taking a test with my German Shepherd today toward her therapy certification. I will have to miss the class I enjoyed so much last week. And next weekend I will be on call which means two weeks in a row. Oh well, you can't win them all.

Hey, Ms Carol, a smaller size is a big thing !!:cool:
At least around here it is !! Just try to enjoy it and the rest will come, ..er ..go when it is time.:D
I put on a pair of last years black capris the other day just to wear around the house and I had to keep tugging them up, so guess they will go to the Good Will equivalent around here. I am not going to go around holding pants up all the time. I will sacrifice :D:Dand shop for some replacements.
I went to the chiro yesterday and he tried a different method this time since I don't seem to be holding as much as we would like. I can really tell he did something different too--my hips (which are my problem) are really feeling tight and hurting too. So all I plan is several walking sprees for today. I went on a 15 min. one this a.m. and will go on at least 2 more just to loosen my hips up a bit. Seems to help.

We failed. :( She wouldn't lay down on command and I knew this might happen. We have only been working on that command for a week so she isn't consistent with it yet. She did everything else perfectly. The evaluator was impressed with how much I have done with a rescue in 3 months and I guess I haven't really thought about it that way. I was just so frustrated knowing I had to have all this done by today! She even passed all the therapy elements. I decided to go ahead and take that part too since it was only $5 extra. However, she can't get her therapy certification without the Canine Good Citizenship and the laying down on command is part of the CGC so no therapy certification yet. We are close, but no cigar. Not sure when we will have another chance to test.

I agree. I was on maintenance once before and you have to look elsewhere for pats on the back. :tear: I'm sure I'll always have the bs and bp to monitor. And I'd find a reason to shop for clothes, no matter what! :D Even if it was the thrift shop!
Hi Claudette! I'm glad you're better now. That's a bit scary.
Mary, that's too bad she didn't quite make it. You've come a long way. Will you have to take everything over or just the CGC?
Karole, did your hips loosen up a bit?
petra65
04-26-2008, 05:35 PM
You have take everything over because most of it is the CGC-if you are doing both they throw the therapy elements in. Like you have to prove she can walk through a crowd without getting distracted so they make the crowd a bunch of handicapped people in wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, etc. You also have to show she doesn't get startled by noises and they use kids to make noise, etc. She has to greet a friendly stranger and you go up to a person in a wheelchair, etc. The only special therapy element you have to do extra is she has to ignore food on the floor and that is a no problem element for a dog who has GI issues. We could stand over the food dish and she wouldn't eat it-we only have to pass within 3 feet of it.
Now Kobe, that would be a different story. Actually, he's a great dog and mostly obedient but not therapy material. I really should do agility with him. Would be good exercise too. I've never done a scored event with a dog before. Now I've had that experience.

Mary, it does sound like your dog did awfully well . She'll nail it next time for sure !!
Carol, the hips do feel better after a walk, at least for a little while, then they seem to tighten up again. Hopefully I will be able to sleep a little better tonight than I did last night as they kept we awake some.
Claudette, so good to see you back again, sorry that you have been ill . Hopefully, you'll be 100% again really soon.
Yes, Shadow, the hips were certainly a big incentive to get out there and walk today. As I said it did seem to help for a while after each walk. The sitting makes them tight or stiff again.
Way to go Sharon, glad you are doing so well on the ticker-- but then you've been staying at it awfully well and deserve it.
Tresses, hope you were able to get something in with all the running you have to do on the week ends. I'm pulling for you.

Karole, this may be too late for you to read tonight, but if I do stretches just before I fall into bed I often sleep the night. Otherwise, my knees or calves might wake me up once or twice just because the muscles will tighten up. It makes a great difference in how rested I feel in the morning. Good luck!

We went out to the rhododendron gardens today for the final exercise day in my week - the goal was a 2-mi walk.
I've mentioned before I have a bad knee - old ACL/MCL/medial meniscus injury. More recently, the ortho doc found a lot of osteoarthritic bone spurring on my knee causing snap-crackle-pop and pain. He recommended shaving the bone ends and realigning my kneecap, surgically of course. :o
Well, 3/4 mi into my walk today, doing absolutely nothing but taking a step on a level, bark covered path, my knee went out. Not just a little out, but stabbing pain, couldn't bear my weight, swollen-to-the-size-of-a-football out. I've spent a lot of time with it elevated and iced, and it's not helping so far. I'd guess from the pain location and stability issues, it feels like the (23-year-old) pin holding my ACL in place failed.
I'm so frustrated. I don't think my recent activity level has injured it - I think it was just ready to go based on an ancient ligament/meniscus repair and the more recent surgery recommendations.
I'll call to make an appointment with a doc on Monday. I truly truly truly don't need the pain, difficulty and expense of a knee surgery right now!
And what do I do for exercise in the mean time? I can't even do situps with a bad ACL. Sit and be fit? Argh! :(
Thanks for letting me vent.

I have always been told that laying down on command is the hardest command for a dog to perform because it goes against the "dominance" rule. So, don't be too hard on yourself. It takes a lot of time for a dog to do that command "in public" with any reliability. I think you did exceptional for the small amount of time that you had. Gosh, if she is a rescue - you probably had some other "problems" to overcome. So, I think you have done wonderful. :exclamation: I assume she is not under 4 months old? Correct? Then, you are in the either under 1 year old or in the terrible 2's right? Anyway, doesn't matter - you have came a long way and she is doing great!!!! I have trained 5 dogs: 1-Samoyed (with a bad case of stubbornness) and 4 - Alaskan Malamutes. Believe me - I know what you have went through!!! It is nerve wracking - but, sure a lot of pleasure to have obedient dogs. I have been so lax in the last 2 years on my obedience training. I have been concentrating more on getting me healthy than making them obedient and it shows.
Well, it shouldn't take too long and your baby will be doing that command without hesitation. It sounds as if she is very smart and a quick learner. It is so wonderful that you are also training her for therapy work. My Sammy was a therapy dog. He sure brought a lot of smiles to a lot of people in nursing homes. He was soooo white and had a beautiful face. They loved to touch is fur. So soft and cottony. He never did any tricks but, they loved him anyway.
Well, I wish you the best on your next try!

Jeri,
I am so sorry to hear about your knee!!! I feel bad that you have to go through such misery!!! I guess you will have to do exercises to work on your upper body strength such as with dumbbells.:confused: I can't think of any other exercises to do either. I know you can purchase a weighted ball at Wal Mart and they have chair exercises you can do using that.
I know how bone spurs can affect a person. I have them in my ankles and hips. They are very painful and can be very dibilitating (sp?) I know that when my ankle or hip goes out - I have more pain with that than the arthritis itself. I have often thought about surgery for my ankles - but, foot surgery is not as perfect on feet as it is in other places. People do well with hip and knee replacements but, I haven't heard about ankles. Anyway, I was suppose to go to a foot surgeon and my chiropractor warned me about foot surgery - I never went. My jaw is in the same condition. They wanted to break my jaw years ago. They would smooth the edges of the cartilege (bones - ?) and reset it. I never took to much to that idea - so I live with that pain too. My RA specialist suggested just not opening my jaw so wide and cut up apples if they are a problem. Gosh!!!!!!!! Case solved!!!!!!!!!! So, I feel for you about this surgery thing! Not a pleasant thing to think about. :( Well, I know I haven't been of any help, but, I do feel for you.
Take care and I hope you are feeling better real soon.

Thanks, all, for the supportive comments! The knee is actually better today, the swelling has gone down a lot. My irrational, denial focused self says oh, great, then you don't have to go to the doc! But it's still really tender and feels very unstable, so I probably should. Ugh.
Sharon, I hope you continue to be able to successfully deal with yours with good workarounds (like the sliced apple). That doesn't sound like much fun.
Carol, if it was just a ligament repair, yes, they could do it arthroscopically. But the bone shaving (gives me the creeps just to type) and kneecap realignment would require more major surgery.
I'm staying off it again today and just cutting back my food to compensate for my reduced activity level.

Yeah for you, Tresses :D! And no worries - consider the 2 set workout as a variation of your "usual" so your body keeps guessing and doesn't adapt to your workouts ;).

Yeah, we'll go with that theory. ;)

I did upper body today plus ten minutes each on bike and treadmill. I've got a twinge in my arm tonight, which is unusual. Must have overdone something.
Hope you all have a good night. :)

I had good intentions of getting to the "Y" yesterday, but, after I ate bf, I developed a headache that kept getting worse and worse. Good thing I had chiro appt. yesterday. I am so out all over that I will be going back on Wed. :( I feel better today - but, achey. Chiro understands that all this weather changes affects me every spring. So, I will do the best I can and hopefully get through this spring better than most years.
Lots to do today - so, I gotta leave but, I hope all of you have a wonderful day!

Well, I am back from my meeting and all went smooth! Ho-Hum! I have plans to meet up with d-m-i-l tomorrow morning. She's gonna help mow lawn, then off together to the "Y" and then, both to the chiro. So, big day to look forward to. I will be starting early. So, hope I don't have any trouble getting to sleep tonight. DH hurt his back 2 days ago. He's feeling much better today. Hopefully well enough to handle putting fertilizer on the yards.
Well, I hope all of you are having a great week. Hopefully, Shadow will be around soon and whip all of us together and beat us to exercise.:razz::nod:
Shadow, I hope that your life is starting to settle down a little more. I am missing you!:(:o

Carol, I hope you feel better in the morning. You must be careful with those exercises. Make sure to do them correctly - and safely! Make sure not to hold your breathe when lifting. Breathe through your nose and do everything very slow and controlled.;)
I hope you have a very good night also!

Thanks, Sharon. I woke up this morning and it was more or less gone. I'm not certain what I did, but I was probably pushing a little too hard on the ab machine. Today was lower body and tomorrow I'll cut back on the weights. I'm famous for getting too enthusiastic and injuring something, so I've really been being cautious.
Today, the office water cooler ran dry. Nobody around but girls and I wanted a drink of water. I used to be able to put a full bottle on, but got wimpy in later years. I decided I'd put my new muscles to the test. http://bestsmileys.com/thumbs/2.gif

Yeah, I know all about that enthusiasm. I've done that before!
Tell me you didn't hoist one of those big bottles up on top of that cooler!?!:eek::eek:
Carol, now I know how you hurt yourself! You showoff!

Carol, now I know how you hurt yourself! You showoff!:rolleyes: Nope, that was yesterday. I hoisted the bottle today and my arm didn't mind at all.

Shoot, my laptop battery died and I lost my post. :(
I did not make it swimming today. No goggles. I bought some tonight, and will be there at 8:45am tomorrow.
We got pedometers today - so if anyone is using one and would like to post step counts, I'm game. Mine will be very embarrassing as a desk-bound telecommuter, hopefully this will motivate me to move around more.
DH and I went shopping today for an exercise bike for him. We tried both recumbents and uprights, and he found one he liked. (A Nordic Track). Does 1 min each on 6-7 exercise bikes and 2-3 elliptical trainers, plus a walk through the mall, count as HIIT? :p
The knee is a lot better. Seems 100% actually. I couldn't get into the doc for a couple of weeks, so unless it relapses I don't think that I will go. Sorry for crying wolf - I'm not usually hypochondriac.
I hope everyone else's injuries are improving and exercise plans are going well!

Note - while I love hearing from everyone, we may want to all start posting on this week's thread (April 27 - May 3) ;).
