The news about statins seems to be getting out. This is a half hour programme from Radio 4 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/theinvestigation/pip/03u0y/) (needs RealPlayer) that looks at statin use, who actually benefits (middle aged men with existing heart disease), who doesn't (everybody else). It also suggests the side effects are fairly common, which isn't a good thing when you're trying to get great swathes of healthy people taking a drug.
