Back in January of 2003 my doctor told me that with my family history of diabetes that it was only a matter of time before I deveolped diabetes if I did not lose weight. I knew I had to lose weight but I wasn't sure just how I was going to do it but I knew it would come to me. In June of 2003 I picked up a copy of Protein Power and it made sense, a lot of sense. I dropped 90 pounds in 10 months and managed to lower my cholesterol from 180 to 138 and my triglycerides went from about 150 to 51. I managed to lose 10 inches from my waist and about four inches from my chest. Needless to say this was working very well for me.

I kept the weight off for almost three years and then life got in the way. I lost my grandmother to cancer and was under tremendous stress at work and had major changes occuring in my personal life (good things, but more stuff to deal with!) I gained all but 10 pounds of the weight back over a 2.5 year period. My blood pressure had begain to creep upward as well.

I knew what I had to do and last January I started back on PP. I've lost 20 pounds so far and am trying to break this plateau, but I know it will happen. My BP is now normal and I feel better; so I know I'm on the right track.

Since I've done it before, I know I can do it again.

Welcome back Taters, I too took up PP in Jan. 2003 , lost weight, fell into carbage later and returned Jan. 07. I have already reached my goal again, but am scared to death I will fail at maintenance again.

Believe me, I am hanging on tho this dear place forever !! I learned last time around I can't do with out the support and knowledge that is offered by so many great folks.

So, glad you are back with us, I know you'll be just as sucessful this time as before.

Welcome, Taters.

I'm walking in your shoes. I lost 40 lbs on PP four years ago and then life got in the way. I'm working on losing the same lbs again.

Good luck to you.

Hi there Taters!!!:D

You will find that there are more people here that have went down that same road than not! You sometimes got to kiss a lot of frogs to get a prince... and pp is sure a prince of a way of eating. There are plenty of smart people here and they are very caring and willing to answer questions. So, anytime you have one just ask. I'm sure there are lots of people that have been there, done that, and can help.

Glad to have you on board and good luck!!! We're all here rooting for you!;)

Same here, my weight loss/gain over the past seven years is like a roller coaster ride. The good news is that I'm on the "thrill ride" at the moment and that the net loss is, well, a loss.

And whenever I get the urge to give up I am reminded of what John Wilberforce kept saying during his long struggle in Parliament to bring an end to the slave trade:

Never give up!
Never, ever give up!
