I know from the last thread that you guys are on a roll, so my hat's off to all of you for another successful week !
Well done, gang - you've made me proud :D!
And with that in mind, who's ready to report in for this week ?

Just to let you know that I am still one of you (even if quite busy this week)!! DH has one week of holidays so we are in our second home at the seaside with some projects of improvement & a touch of (early)spring cleaning. Will try to move & shake and report daily, though. After all, I don't want to find my name on the list, Shadow;).
Sunday - brisk walking with DH along the beach (40 min)
Monday - lower body: thighs, abs (2 x 10 min)

Present, sir! Ermm...ma'am! :)
I sooooo did not feel like working out today. You may have noticed my strong desire for sleep in my food challenge post. Yeah, I did nap. But I got my butt moving eventually.
20 minutes on the bike
25 minutes lower body resistence
Feeling energized. :D Which is good, because I have to face grocery shopping tonight. ::groan::

I'm here too! :) Met the Geezer at the gym and had a medium workout. Still feeling some of the effects of the cold, I only did enough bike to loosen up my knees. Then I did upper body and abs-type things on the equipment. It felt good!
I keep thinking it should hurt more than it does. I've been at it about a month, increasing reps and adding five pounds when it gets too easy. I love the arm equipment, but I don't want tennis elbow so I guess I'll continue to move up slowly.

Hi, all, I'm late getting here as I had to work today and just finished my workout. (Life intervened.)
2o min. on glider and 10 min on bike.
Extra was 10 min on big ball
Now off to collapse in the nice hot tub.

Hi Everyone!
I haven't forgotten about you, just been busy! Yesterday, I went to the gym and got in a mile on the treadmill and did all 12 machines. Then, for the good stuff - workout 1/2 hour in pool and relaxed in whirlpool and dry sauna.
Last night, we got a cold spell with freezing rain and snow - so, I didn't make it to the Toastmaster meeting. I was suppose to install 2 new members - so, I missed out on that! I really didn't think the weather was real bad until after 10:00 - which I would have been back home by then. But, DH laid a guilt trip on me about getting into an accident and couldn't predict exactly when ice would hit - so better to be safe than sorry - so, I watched "Little People, Big World" and got my mind off of the disappointment.:(
I did get to move my ticker the last 4 days by 2 lbs. I believe that I'm back on the way to my goals after a brief side track!:D I hovered between 159 and 158 for over 2 weeks. But, I think I've found the problem and have eliminated it from my regimen and hopefully, I will not have such a big plateau again. (Cross - my - fingers!;)) I have come to realize that one of the things that can definitely have an impact on progress is not being true to yourself. I won't elaborate on it - only to say that I can fool myself - but, not my body or the scale! If you try real hard - you can make all kinds of excuses for what you're doing - but, in the end, the only one that gets hurt is yourself, your progress, and the time you waste coming to terms with your mistakes!:o
Well - I guess that is my report and confession for the week - and I wish all of you wellness and successful workouts this week!

Tresses - Way to go getting that workout in :D!!!! Believe me, my "feel like it" factor leaves a lot to be desired a lot of times . BUT I keep on keeping on because I know how much better I'll feel once I get started and after I'm done :).
Carol - You are doing it absolutely the right way ! One of the biggest, most negative influences over the fitness scene was the "no pain, no gain" school of thought. Take it from this achy body - it didn't work then and it doesn't work now ;).
Karole - Don't you hate it when that happens ???? But way to go getting that work out in despite all the interference :D!
Sharon - What wisdom you shared with us!!!! Sadly, we humans can be slow learners (or at least I can!) but eventually even we finally catch on to ourselves. Way to go getting all that thought out and for putting it down so eloquently for us :D!

I will not miss the opportunity to sign up below this! I don't know where I would be without the supervisor! So thank you, Sharon, for putting it so nicely into the words :)!!
It is very windy over here (which happens sometimes ;)) so I refused going out for brisk walking with DH (when back, he called this walk a 'heroic one'; I hope I will not have to nurse him - & his 'bad cold' -again ). Instead, I walked 2 miles with LS. (I had some problems with our cat Plume (= Feather) who obviously prefers me to nap next to her instead of doing any workout!! She is really disturbing & I have to go as far as to lock her up. It happens often in Paris, too. So - I beg you to notice, dear Shadow - it's generally her fault if I don't do my workout:nod:. Btw, I don't how she does it: almost always sleeping (but for moments I try to move & shake!) and still if you only could see her while she does perform her stretching... Should I - maybe - have more naps??
Tuesday - Walk Away the Pounds (2 miles); (perhaps later ?) 10 minute solution - arms
See you tomorrow!

Hi Everyone!
I just got back from working out. I had to cut my time at the gym short. Dmil had to be out around noon. So, I did my mile on the treadwill and all my machines and skipped the pool and whirlpool today! I was very proud of myself for doing the hard stuff and not just the easy stuff. I hope Friday I will get the full workout in.
Today, I feel so much lighter than usual. I actually tried to walk up our stairs like a normal person would - one step one foot - instead of one foot on the step and then bring the other foot to the same step. I could do it quite comfortably! I will need to practice it because it felt awkward - but, it is one goal I wanted to achieve and I believe I will be able to do it. Going down the steps like a normal person I haven't tried yet - because it is a lot of force on my joints - but, that will be my next goal!
I was talking to DH last night. I said that I was hoping when I reach my weight goal, that I hope that I would be able to wear short heals when I dress up instead of gym shoes. I hope that I can look normal and feel comfortable at the same time. I think that I will need to work on my ankles and stretch out those muscles but, I believe I will be able to tolerate regular shoes at some point and feel actually dressy - when I dress up!:) It will be so nice to feel pretty again - instead of dumpy!
My goals are large and my wants are many but, good things can happen to those who work hard and are patient!:D
I hope that all of you are working hard and reach your goals!

Sharon, congratulations on your progress! You do work hard and I am sure that you will reach your goals soon!!
Saying this, I feel a bit ashamed as my workout was not as great as it should (and probably could) be. In the morning we had some troubles with some plumbing which evidently was not correctly done in last August and this is exactly the sort of situations when I feel helpless and sad. I naïvely expect people to do their job and it takes me a lot of time to understand why it doesn't work like that. Well, and then we had got a puncture and I demanded my DH to go and get Haagen dazs ice cream. And you know what? - he refused and proposed a stroll along the beach instead. It was soothing, I admit. But I also see that I have created a low carb Cerberus in a person of my own DH:eek:!!

Sharon - Wow, that is wonderful progress :D! I found myself holding my breath and going up those stairs with you!
Karole - Likely story !
Amy -!!!! I know it's only Weds, but.... Oh I see - you run your week Mon - Sun. That gives you another day's leeway ;).
Adina - If I could sleep like my cat (for even a few hours a day), I'm sure I'd be much better off :p. Sleep is important, but I must say, napping with your cat is not a legitimate excuse for missing exercise. But once again, I give you credit for trying :D!

Hi Everyone!
Today, I dropped another .2 lbs. so, not only did I move my ticker, I moved how much I want to lose - down another 5 lbs. to 130 lbs. I might as well go for it all if I want to look the way I want to! Just Go for it!:D
I might not be dropping big numbers - but, I sure have been steady this week. I am pretty content with my progress - I just hope I don't jinx myself from all my gloating!!!!:rolleyes: (Everything will come to a blazing halt now!):paranoid::evil::suspicious::razz:
I am trying to coax dh to find my Leslie Sansone tape in vhs so I can copy it to dvd. We took the Betamax machine out about 6 months ago when we hooked up our Sony lcd tv and hooked up a new dvd/vhs combo machine and now I don't have a tape that fits the machine. The tape is buried somewhere in the archives of old tapes from the 1980's. If you are like us, there are many tapes and many places that it could be. I hope that I can persuade him to let me dig in his office for it.
Shadow, I was wondering - Is this area the women's report area and the men report in a different area - I think it is "use it or lose it"? I never see any of the guys reporting here! Maybe they are just too chicken to keep up with us "girls"?!;)
Have any of you ever pan fried some pork chops and then baked them in the oven with some kind of creamy sauce until they were tender? I was wondering what I could use for the sauce? Maybe a mixture of butter, cream, water, chicken broth, and a little zanthum gum to thicken? Do any of you think that would work? I have a package of zanthum gum and have not used it in anything. I was wondering how much you think I would need for a medium sauce? Teaspoon? Tablespoon? I am thinking maybe using 15 oz can of chicken broth, 2 tablespoons of butter, of course pan drippings from frying pork. Then, maybe 1/2 - 1 cup of heavy cream and 1/2 - 1 cup of water. Anybody want to comment? I will check back later and hopefully someone can add there opinions before lunch or dinner.
Thanks everyone and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Could be, Sharon ! Actually, I think there are two reasons it ends up appearing segregated. First is because the men reporting in UI/LI have the exercise habit down pat and are a bit more advanced. Second is because they have too much testosterone ! Seriously, second is because they are really into reporting reps, poundage, etc - whereas we tend to just generalize and report that it was done ;).
Don't get me wrong - any of you want to talk poundage and reps, that's fine :). I just personally find it boring and redundant. I think we should all journal our workouts at home (for several reasons) and one report a day is enough for me .
Karole
03-06-2008, 09:40 AM
Yes, I think writing out all the reps and pounds are boring, but I'm sure they (the ui/li folks) like it just as much as we like our way of expressing our work outs.
(another reason for me not to be anxious to report in on poundage and etc is that I am currently only using 2 lb. weights);)
So I am very happy here. As long as Shadow keeps her whirling twirling whip off to the side and only brings it out when we are trying to "punk" out on her.:D
I did 30 min. dvd and plan (if it doesn't snow) to go to line dancing tonight. It really was a lot of good fun (and moving and shaking) last week and I want to do it again.

Sharon, the only way I have found to add xanthan gum to hot liquid is to sift it from a shaker in infintesimal amounts and stir thoroughly to avoid gummy lumps. Seems to me I tried mixing it in cold water, like corn starch, but it didn't work.
Have you thought of using sour cream with the pan drippings and let the baking process do the thickening? I would also check the recipe selection on this board.

I started my workout quite early - well, at least for me:o - in the morning which gives me the opportunity to report so early.
Thursday - am 10 minute solution - arms; early pm: 40 min brisk walking with DH; (planned): late evening - 10 minute solution - abs

I like doing it too, Karole, as it is a great ego booster to look back over time and see improvement :D! I just don't do it online ;).
(another reason for me not to be anxious to report in on poundage and etc is that I am currently only using 2 lb. weights);)
Now ladies - let me explain something :). Everyone has to start somewhere. And if you haven't used those muscles in the past, they're going to need some coaxing to get stronger. So please don't ever be ashamed of where you're at. Keep a journal - write those 2# weights down with pride - and next year this time you will be grinning from ear to ear to see how much you've improved with consistency . I have journaled all the years I've exercised and it's amazing in the course of over a decade how things change. And when I'm feeling down about not feeling strong on a particular day, all I have to do is flip through my journals to see that my output is not too shabby after all.
So I am very happy here. As long as Shadow keeps her whirling twirling whip off to the side and only brings it out when we are trying to "punk" out on her.:D
I promise, you "punk" out, I'll get ya . But in the meantime, I'll keep my whip to myself ;).

Kudos to all of you for those workout reports !
Carol - Nothing feels as fine as a muscle firming up :D!
Tresses - Way to go getting that missed workout in!
Karole - Great to see so much moving going on in your corner! And nice try, but stirring gravy does NOT count . Now if you'd done some countertop pushups and squats/lunges while waiting for those chops to cook, I might have considered it ;).
Adina - I am so happy your tapes are working for you - and that you're working them :D!
Sharon - Wow, you are really on a roll !!!!!

Made it to the gym yesterday. I took it a little easier because I was feeling dragged out, but it turned out to be my blood sugar. I must remember to have a snack before I go. (sigh!) More planning!
My bag is packed for tonight. Looking forward to a resting weekend.

Did 20 min. on the glider this a.m. and will do another 20 this p.m. The rest of my day is going to be a surprise to me. (I like living on the edge!:D
Shadow - I'm not sure you'll remember me - the last time I posted here was about a year ago. You were always a motivator then, and I see you still are now!!! I have to tell you I've had some medical issues that caused me to take another weight loss path - BUT I always hang on to my PP Roots, and it remains the basis of my eating plan. You - Shadow have motivated me into a lifestyle of fitness and exercise. I am very regularly hitting the gym, and my weight is very much in control. It's great to come back and see you're still out here rallying the troops!!

Of course I remember you, Paul!!! And it's wonderful to see you again :D!
You were always a motivator then, and I see you still are now!!!
Aw shucks :o! I gotta tell ya, Paul, with people like you and this group, it is my priviledge to come here and cheer for all of you :)!

How fantastic that you have adapted the basics into what works for you! That's what it's all about and I am thrilled you have not given up on the plan but have found a way to incorporate it into your lifestyle

Wow - you sure know how to make my day! I can't tell you how good it feels to know I made a difference :D! But of course, the credit goes to you for not giving up and for keeping on keeping on ! Although I will admit it thrills me no end to know someone actually listened to me  ;)!

HI, all,
Thursday: 3.75 miles walked(per new pedometer set to my steplength, weight) at work, abd/bun/waist workout
Friday: 2.75 miles/pedometer
Shadow, I didn't realize just how much walking I do at work. I will still do more as I don't want my body to become lazy or get adjusted.
Saturday: will be aerobic tape and /or hiking, toning for abd/waist/butt.
Will try to edit later.

Shadow, you don't give yourself enough credit! We listen to you more than you may think! It's just that sometimes we don't let you know that you're having an effect on us because we don't want your head to get to big!:D:p:D We can't let you know that you have that much control or you might use that whip for other things!!(Hee! Hee! Hee!) I just love to be able to joke and kid with you and you take it so well!!! I guess it is the friendship that we're developing here that makes this spot such a great place to come to. I can't wait to see what all of you are bantering about! It is so much fun and very entertaining!;) I am always so thankful for the opportunity to be apart of this!
Well, that's enough of that! I got to get back to business!! ;) I need to gt the grocery store. Hopefully, that won't take too long. If I'm not too tired maybe I'll stick in the aerobics tape and see how far I can get before I poop out! :p Sunday, will definitely be my day of rest because yesterday at the gym - I really pushed all my weights to the limits on the machines.:jawDrop: It was great! I got at least 15-20 reps on all machines and then, I went to the pool and worked about about an hour in there. Luckily the whirlpool was working because I found out last Wednesday that if I don't use that whirlpool, I get real sore the next day.:( (Big time!)
Well, I hope all of you made it through your routines this week with flying colors. I look forward to the coming week and keeping up with the exercise like I did this week.
Stay safe!

I always listen to you, Whippersnapper, even when I'm not following an exercise program of any sort. You're like my conscience! Always on my shoulder.
I'm just checking in to say I had a productive hour at the gym after work yesterday and I pushed harder. The result was a charlie horse in my leg that woke me up this morning! :p
I'm resting today and tomorrow unless DH wants to catch up on what he missed this week.
Have a great weekend!

Went shopping today, but got in an 18 min. workout with dvd before I left. Just finished 12 min. on the bike and 10 on the glider so a total of 40 min.
Now, I plan to get on my couch and watch tv and just relax. See every one tomorrow when we're moving and shaking again.

Good Morning to all of you!:D
I had a great move in my ticker again today! The scale has been treating me well the last few days. Today, another .4 lbs. off. I didn't even get to do the aerobics I planned on because I was just wiped out yesterday.
I did something yesterday I had not planned on - told dh about this site and what I do here. Of course, I got the wholed schmeel about not talking about security stuff and then, last night he asked me what I was doing when he heard the tippity tippity of the keys. I told him and then I had to tell him what I was typing!!!!!:mad: Now, I'm not sure this might have been a big mistake! I don't want to have to be "reporting" to him my every stroke!!!:( I hate living with a security freak! I know it's part of our business - but, I just want this to be "me" speaking "my thoughts." I know that this may sound a little "stupid" but, I just can't do anything around this house without him having to be poking around in what i'm doing! I know it's not a control "thing" just a curiousity. But, I just want this to be a "me" thing without "him".:o Anyway, I'll see how nosey he gets and then, I'll get mad if I don't get some privacy! It's just we never hide anything from each other and I just feel like this is a my thing!
Well, I'll check back in later!

Hey, Big D--welcome to the land of Shadow-- and all her willing cohorts !!
We try to have a bit of fun but are also serious about improving our health and well being. Sounds like that is what you have in mind too and we are glad to have you join in. The accountability of joining the challenges and reporting in daily has worked awfully well for me this past year so I intend to keep going at it on a daily basis.
Sharon, you're doing great on your ticker tape--way to go. It's lots of fun to watch that ticker moving and shaking its way down !! You're the one making it move with all the changes you've made , so good on you.
Adina, I bought a 10 Minute Solution dvd yesterday !! It is a workout using the large ball and I just did 3 of the 10 min. segments. I got a really good workout from it. I'm glad you talked about your 10 Minute Solution workout here, or I might not even have noticed the dvd in the store.
I will probably alternate that dvd with my glider and other workout dvd so my muscles will never know what to expect from one day to the next. (Just as we never know where or when Shadow is going to show up):paranoid::paranoid:
Have a great day.

Sharon, you did tell him that you're virtually anonymous? :paranoid: Whatever you do, don't give him your password! :p I told my doctor early on when I started using the old board, then I had second thoughts about him reading about my "deepest" feelings and didn't mention it again.
Maybe he'll lose interest.

Carole - you're still anonymous - but, I don't know for how long!;):D:rolleyes::p (Hee, Hee, Hee!!) That is hilarious!! I remain logged in at all times. You just gave me a great idea. I better long in and out all the time and then I'm safe. Except, I got to rip out the password in our password book and hide that now!
Anyway, I hope he does lose interest. I don't need another lecture everytime I write something!
Today, my ticker is moving another .4 lbs. That must be because I'm so busy dodging has questions!:D I can't believe that I've dropped 4 pounds in the last 12 days! I am elated! I better not shout too loud - the scale my here me and backfire! Well, I got up a little late again today and I'd like to be to the gym by 11:00. So, I don't have much time. I will try to sneek:Dback here later when I get home!
I'll check back later! Bye!

Bigdawg - Welcome :D! We're always happy to have a new recruit!
Karole - I am here and very happy to see that you have on your listening ears! Don't worry - at my age, I know there's a big difference between listening and heeding :p.
Sharon - Oh golly .... Hopefully DH will not focus too much on this, because I know how I would feel if I had someone looking over my shoulder ! Like you said, we are developing friendships here and having a great time doing it. That kind of thing needs no supervision, IMHO ;). But on the happy side - I am thrilled at those workout reports and that ticker movement :D!
Tresses - Way to go on two more successful workouts !
Carol - You always make me feel so young when you call me whippersnapper ! And believe me, I am watching you ...
