What are you doing to make the most of today?

My husband's feeling overfed with meat, so I've been searching around for a new veggie recipe to try for dinner tonight. I've settled on peppers stuffed with tomato, garlic and mozzarella (a recipe from the Henry Harris Passion for Protein book) - they're baked for well over an hour so they're very soft and sweet, but you just add the cheese towards the end (it's optional - you can do them cheeseless as a salad/vegetable dish). The recipe also includes anchovy, which I'll probably put in mine, but not in his because he's not that keen on them. I'll do a green salad too. (Perhaps I'll have a bit of steak on the side :o)

I'm just about to do some yoga postures - somewhat cautiously, while I see how my back holds up .

Morning,

good luck with the cautious yoga, Mitra!
I never thought about stuffing peppers with tomatoes - but then again, I'm not fond of tomatoes:D.

at the stage of feeling sick that I don't want to eat. Have abosolutely no appetite.

I'll have my eggs, anyway, but, since I don't hink I can even taste them, I'll have them plain:rolleyes:.

I started to read Dr. Mike's blog, then got lost in the links, somewhere. Very interesting. I always knew the media was so biased, but even skeptical me didn't realize by HOW much.

Hello, everyone on this last Monday of February !! I can't believe how quickly a month can go. Two months of the year just gone and done with. Unbelievable.

I am using the day to stick with my plan for the month, also we are taking our info to the tax preparer (it was delayed for 2 weeks because we couldn't get out during the ice storm) , then I don't know what is in store, guess it will all be a big surprise !!

Take care of that back Mitra, and hope you feel better soon Agnes. (It's so good to see you back posting again !)

Thanks, Karole. We're into the afternoon, and my back is still feeling "normal" (the same as before the weekend), so I don't think I've done any real damage. The only residual ache from the weekend is in the muscles in the front of my thighs, so it's looking quite promising!

Hrm, at work. Awake. Aware. That's not so bad.

I have, what, 9 working days left in KC. My ticket is for the afternoon on Next Friday, and I have to check out of my apartment, so I think I'm going to be in travel status all day, and not come in. While I've gotten some things done, it's time to finish stuff. That can start today.

So, that's making the most of the day. I have a good amount of food back at the apartment, so I should get on with making that. Yesterday, for food, used up 1/2 of my remaining eggs, the end of my sour cream, some parm, and some dreamfields and made the frittata again. Was good. Also used 1 or 2 or 3 remaining servings of pork chops. Am thinking I might have to bring some food home. Have 4 lbs of pork tenderloin that I would not want to waste. Would not want to bring shrimp or scallops on the plane, so will have to come up with ways to use those... 2 serves of scallops (I'm thinking next weekend's frittata will use scallops and pasta, tonight is straight broiled scallops), 3 serves of giganto shrimp. 1 or 2 steaks, 1 or 2 pork chops, 2-3 serves of ground beef. Any rate, this is turning into a journal post.

Something funny about scallops. I like them. Really I do. I've had them maybe three times as an adult (I had a period as a kid where I was briefly into them, and then that kind of fell apart and rather badly, thanks Mom). But, when it comes to cooking them, or the first bite or two, they do not register as food in my mind. Something different. I am lead to understand that it might take as many as 30 encounters before I get over this. at $10+/lb, that's $150 in home cook, a lot more in restaurant cook. Why so hard? I don't know. I wish I did. If there were a pharmaceutical, I'd have to give it a try. Regardless of any "uninterrupted 4 hour" type side effects.

Any rate, rock on.

Any ideas on getting things like frozen chicken thighs to someone who could use them? It seems unlikely that I'm going to and it's not exactly the kind of thing you can drop in the local can drive.

Good Morning All!

I have to make the most of Monday because I didn't get to the gym at all last week. So, heading off to that shortly. I sort of feel blah today. It must be the weather - we have a storm headed our way that suppose to dump 2-4 inches of snow. I'm still cleaning house. But, the list is getting shorter. I cleaned all the painted walls and mopped all the floors. Next, will be the stairway - vac the wallpaper and clean the woodwork. It smells so clean - it really makes you smile to see all the shine!

Mitra, I'm praying that your back is okay! I hope that it's a sign you won't be in pain. It sure is awful when it hurts to move!:(

I can't believe March 1st is almost here!:jawDrop: I'm not sure if we'll be doing anything special for my birthday or not! I am hoping I can venture out into the real world and see how do on lc for the first time since starting on Jan. ;)

Meals for today:

Breakfast: rest of berry protein shake
Lunch: pork ribs that didn't get cooked yesterday
Dinner: ? (again, I get left short on what to eat)

Well, got to get movin'!

So far it's a typical Monday. :p I wanna go home!

My gym bag is packed and in my office so I can stop on my way. I left my lunch in the fridge and the cafeteria isn't open today. I had a coffee and about three ounces of cheddar that I keep handy. I have almonds for later. I also have V-8 juice for a pick-me-up.

Back to school Monday for me, after a snow day Friday. Finally I'm feeling better--no headache yet today. It came back with a vengeance yesterday.

My breakfast was a protein shake, lunch will be a wrap (already packed) and supper will be Chicken Florentine (yummy!).

The scale is still stuck for me. It's a little frustrating!

Sounds like everybody has a busy day ahead. Have a good one!

Mitra...how'd the back hold up?

I'm sitting here in sunny Las Vegas (actually we're in Henderson), it's 70 degrees, no wind, and bright bright sun! wonderful.

so far the food has been MUCH better today. Breakfast I was able to stick with eggs, sausage, and bacon, with 3 whole strawberries. I ignored the toast, muffins, crossoints, and pastries...without much struggle.

However, next is the chinese buffet that stressed me out. I had a HUGE breakfast so I wouldnt' be too hungry for lunch, and it's working. I heard that the banquet chef is chinese and makes everything from scratch...so I think I KNOW I'll blow it. BUT, if I only blow it this meal while on this trip, then I'll be okay with that.

Off to lunch...wish me luck!!!

Oh, forgot to mention...my hotel room-along with a robe and slippers, has a SCALE in the bathroom!!!! ARGH!!!

(actually it was kind to me today...the same weight as my home scale...but who wants to weigh while on vacation??!!)

Glad the food is better today, Amy. Enjoy yourself!

Not all of us. Some of us actually like the scale. Like the regular use of it.

It's not for everyone, but it's a useful tool for some.

Point taken--I must confess that this time around, I weigh every day. But since weight loss is often in fits and starts, I have to guard against letting the scale dictate how I feel about my weight loss path that day.

Hello. My name is Tresses and I'm a scale addict.

Yeah, I'm struggling with that, too. But, see above. I need my daily weigh in. :o

Max, your first post made me hungry. Dinner party at your apartment tomorrow night! We'll even help you cook it all! :D

;)

Today today. Today. Holding steady on the scale.

Food:
Bfast: cheese omelette; dark chocolate.
Snack: smoked almonds
Lunch: salmon salad; wasa with muenster cheese
Snack: cheese stick
Dinner: meatloaf and veggies. I've fenagled my own recipe to get it down to 4 ECC per serving. We'll see if the changes are acceptable.

Grocery shopping tonight. Woohooo!

I have to try to get a short workout in before dinner. Lower body. Gotta go!

Mitra...how'd the back hold up?

It's been fine today, thanks . Pretty much the way it was before the weekend - I can feel it, but it's not painful, and doesn't restrict me much. For normal movements I just have to be careful to keep anything I lift close to my body. Otherwise I'm not really limited by it except in exercise/yoga stuff. It's not really bad most of the time, but just never quite goes away. At least it looks as if I got away without making it any worse at the weekend.

Hope you're having fun in Vegas :D.

I'm SO happy about lunch...there were so many options that were meat, a touch of veggie, and some sauce...but I didn't have to have any rice or noodles.
I had beef and broccoli (90%beef, 5%broccoli, 5%veggies/sauce), shrimp, chicken, and I did treat myself to a lemon cake. It was a tiny (looked the size of a decent scallop) circle of cake sitting on fresh whipped cream...
I know the sauce on the meats had carbs, and obviously the dessert, but I'm VERY happy with my choices...and I'm SO full!!

I am going to head out to the pool. Not sure it's warm enough to uncover myself, but we'll see...I stole an apple from the meeting room for later...I'm hoping to not actually have "supper"...maybe a salad or meat appetizer, but no more large buffets for me!! :jawDrop::cool:

I too am addicted to the scale -- but it serves me well. More than a pound and a half up and I know I'm definitely doing something wrong. Water is one thing, but fat is something else entirely.

Amy - I'm glad you had some good choices in Vegas. I think that I'd be in hog heaven at a buffet. I could stay on plan, but my calories would be thru the roof!

Mitra - I do those same stretches that you showed yesterday or the day before. I used to practice yoga, but it is too d@mn hard. Now I only do a few poses every other day to get my juices flowing. I hope you can keep going and not get hurt.

I've had a lousy day. I just want to curl up in bed and try again tomorrow. My dinner is in the oven, my husband is at H&R Block, and my kids are playing in the basement. Maybe things are looking up for this evening. I hope we get some money back. As long as we don't have to pay I'll be fine!

calories, schmalories!!!:razz::tongue:

We're congregating in the hotel lobby bar now. I had a BIT too much red wine last night...tonight will be iced tea...REGULAR iced tea, not the Long Island version!

Not sure about supper tonight...IF I get hungry then I have a restaurant in mind-lobster bisque and chix ceasar salad, but right now I'm just still pretty full..

Oh, Amy, it sounds SO SO good!

My lunch was mostly cheese and I ate almonds and Lindt for a snack, but my dinner was beef and carrots. I feel satisfied now.

Met DH at the gym on the way home from work. My new mp3 player has only one Rich Mullins album on it, but I found it worked for my decorous pace. We'll get the R&R a bit later. At any rate, it helps when somebody turns up the televisions too loud.

I usually wait for a doctor visit to check on weight and I haven't been there in ages! My bathroom scale is just junk. It never comes close to the doctor's anyway.

Oh, Ammy, sounds like you are having such fun in Vegas and doing well on your diet to boot!

Busy, day, awoke with a tooth ache, crown was out of alignment, thank goodness only that, not something else.

Went to the store tonight, so will have groceries.

Well, going to hit the sack, didn't sleep well last night.

Dinner was: Nearly a house fire. Well, not nearly. I'm not used to electric ovens. Pan in oven, oven on broil. Pan out, olive oil in, scallops in the olive oil, pan in the oven. 2 minutes later, smoke is pouring out of the oven. Open the oven, the top of the oven is on fire. Oven off, blow blow blow, fire is out. But it was big and scary there for a moment. Scallops, not burned.

Scallops came out of the oven, got cut into little strips. Little strips combined with dreamfields rotini, half and half, parmesan, and hot sauce. It was great. Really really good. And aside from the smoke alarm, no big deal.

Yeah!

Hi all,
checking in here. busy day and i can;t post at work. state worker here, puters are being "watched" or whatever they call it. food was ok today
breakfast was quiche with a wee bit of chopped chorizo and asparagus
lunch beef broth with chopped cabbage and chopped beef
dinner crab feast, crab legs, king crab legs, steamed shrimp, a few rings of calamari (removed the breading), omg that was good. veggies was some kim chee and a few broccoli florets.
my birthday is in 2 days and my fellow workers are getting me a cake, my FAVORITE cake..., so....... i am have 3 options.
1. treat myself to it and suffer the consequences
2. not have it and still be ok
3. have a taste, praise its taste and let the others eat it
I am contemplating about this. My hubby said to go ahead and have a piece but... i know about the consequences. is one piece of cake worth all that????
well, i had all those wild plans to have a reuben sandwich and onion rings on my birthday and the more i think about it.. the less appetizing it sounds...so maybe i need to think about it a lot more and that wicked thought will go away. why do i need to reward myself with carb loaden crap? is that even a reward or is it really a punishment? hmmm deep thoughts here.. lol.well, i am not scared because it's only a thought. we had a birthday party with cake at the office again today and i was not tempted very much ( i am PMSing so a bit of temptation was there, I have to admit):D but i did not have the cake. i had some mozzarella sticks instead.. Boy, all that seafood makes me thirsty. gotta get something to drink. talk to you tomorrow.

I want dinner with Max and I want to be packed in Amy's suitcase and I want to work out with Carol and Geezer.. I want warm weather so bad I can taste it. If it would just get above freezing I can handle it.

Two granddaughers age 4 and 2 are coming for a week on March 9. I can hardly wait. They live 4 hours away. I don't see them often but they are still close to me. We e-mail, send phone pics and talk.I miss them so much. The parents(me son and his wife) are going on an adult vacation. 1st one since the girls were born. WOO HOOO for me!!

It's fine when I'm at home, because I can concentrate on the postures that will help me, and not do the things like sideways bends that over-stretch my sacroiliac. At the weekend I was in a group, so did some things I wouldn't normally do. I knew which ones were risky, and did them very carefully, but I had been feeling better, and wanted to see if I could tolerate more now. Apparently not .

Tresses, I think it's his first one. Most of it's not fast enough for the bike, but it works well for the upper body stuff at my pace. Plus it's uplifting!
