I am currently at 240 lbs, but I would like to be at 165 lbs. 165 lbs was when I felt the healthiest. My boss has hired us a personal trainer, and I have been doing static weight training since the end of January. Now...I'm ready to conquer this part of my life. I think I probably am going to need a buddy to help me stay accountable. I want this more than anything now. I just have very low willpower. It's easier to stop for convenience foods.

Static weight training? As in you only hold the weight to failure?

Yes. It has made an incredible difference in my life. I'm much stronger than when I started. We work out on a multi-functional machine at work. I'm loving it.

So... what is the time under tension you shoot for(how long do you have to hold the weight)?

Welcome! Protein Power is a great plan for getting healthy on. I'm not losing much weight because I keep getting off plan, :( but in the 9 months I've been doing PPLP (this time), blood lipids have improved greatly and blood sugar is getting much better as well. And that is with lots of "goofs". Stay faithful and you will do great.

So the personal trainer has you on static training (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/sisco6.htm) exclusively, or...?
Hate to hijack the thread, but I'm quite curious about this.

Welcome, Mary Louise :)! Jump right in and join us - you will find tons of support here.
Which book have you read? Are you mentally in gear for doing this? Have you set up your home and kitchen to be PP friendly? Is your family supportive of your decision? I think as long as you're armed with knowledge, have the right foods available, and have a support system, that the whole journey will be a much easier one ;).
BTW - While the static weight training discussion is interesting, I think that part would be best covered in the Born To Be Fit forum :).

No, I'm doing cardio, too. I'm walking 30 minutes a day keeping my heart rate in my target zone 150-159.:)
Thank you for all the welcomes. I have all the books the Eades have written, I think. lol My kitchen is friendly cause I don't eat the flour and sugar....I eat the potatoes and pasta, and there isn't any in there. :D

If you read and follow the advice in those books, you WILL succeed. BTW, it's so much easier to make dinner when you don't have to worry about (and "time") all those silly potatoes and pasta! Everything gets so much easier.
