Good morning :).

My breakfast was a piece of "bread cheese" (a sort of flat disc of baked soft cheese - something like cottage cheese or paneer) with a slice of back bacon and a bit of black pudding. And a small cappuccino.

I'm not sure yet what we'll eat for the rest of the day. I'm thinking about tuna and salad for lunch.

My husband has been showing an interest in Gary Taubes's book . I didn't mention it to him, because he doesn't share my fascination with all this stuff, but he's seen a couple of articles and mentioned them to me (like this one (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/main.jhtml?xml=/health/2008/01/27/st_diet127.xml)). I told him I already had a copy of the book, then he mentioned it again later. I hope he decides to read it, because I think it will be easier for him to modify his diet if he understands more of the reasons. It'll be a mental workout for me if he asks me to explain it all to him . It's good to see that the publicity is actually reaching people who don't spend their time hanging round LC bulletin boards looking for that sort of thing.

Good Morning!

Mitra, that would be great to get hubby on board. Mine isn't there just yet.

It's all quiet here at the moment. My daughter was up late with...digestive issues...that kept the boys up, too, so I'm letting them all sleep in this morning. (I love homeschooling. ;)) I do hear rumblings from the boys though, so my peace will soon be interrupted.

I don't know why but.......I'm down 1.5lb from yesterday! W00T! So, I'm back down to where I stalled (and started creeping up) 12 days ago. :) I hope it keeps moving in the right direction.

Breakfast was 1 egg, 1 large breakfast sausage link, 1 slice LC toast, and 1 sq. 70% dark chocolate.

Lunch...not sure, but Mitra's mentioning of tuna makes me want tuna salad, so tuna salad it will be.

Dinner...throwing a chicken in the crockpot.

Have a good one, folks! :)

Way to go Tresses!
Good luck with hubby Mitra, looks like the "wait and see" approach might be the right one with him??

Rough morning...ran out of coffee filters at home and coffee machine is broken here at work. Stopped on the way and got an iced coffee drink, but miss the rich black coffee first thing in the am.
Speaking of a.m....woke up to 13, now it's 6, drive home will be -2.

7am mexican egg casserole, very small clementine, 1c Hoods
830am iced coffee
11:30am meatloaf, pickles, romaine
3:00 yogurt and blueberries, almonds
5:30 chicken salad on romaine

Good morning to all.
Seattle checking in.. no snow today so kids need to get ready for school. Here is my food for the day
breakfast; turkey chorizo, 1 string cheese, 1 egg
lunch. 2 oz braunschweider on 2oz celery, pickles, 1 egg, 1oz swiss cheese
dinner: we might go to a Teriyaki place, where I order the chicken with no sauce, stir fry veggie and kim chee.
snacks if needed: part skim mozzarella stick

It's "wacky woman's week" for me so my weight will be up by up to 3 :eek:pounds and I won't weigh myself because when I see the gain, gets me upset, which might lead to the "heck I dont care, gimme the carbs" attitude :eek:and I sure dont want that. I know this weight gain happens every month and I should know it by now, have dealt with it for 30 some years.. hahaha. but oh no... every time, I have to calm myself down and reason with myself... silly huh?:D
Well I am wishing all of you a wonderful, protein filled day!

Interesting morning so far. Unexpected freezing rain slowed the commute down to a crawl this morning and we still have students arriving who couldn't navigate the roads (neither could the school buses).

I managed to get to bed by 11:30 last night (how about you, Tresses?). Yesterday was on track. Today's food:
Breakfast--protein shake (done)
Lunch--pumpkin sausage soup, diced chicken
Supper--the remains of the diced chicken

I'm on the road to a b-ball game tonight (the reason for diced chicken--it's portable). I'll decide whether I need any more food today after I get home tonight, probably about 10:30.

I'm not sure I'm eating enough these days. I honestly have not been very hungry. I am meeting my minimum protein goals, but generally with one shake and 1-2 meals. Last night I had some soup when I got home from my SAT class, but only because I needed some protein, not because I was hungry.

My weight seems to be down a bit this morning, so that's a good thing. Maybe I'm just overthinking the whole thing.

Anyway, have a great day, everyone.

BTW, Mitra, I printed out the article for a good friend who is working this program (about two weeks now). He seems to be doing very well. He asked to borrow PPLP and appears to have gotten into the PP way of thinking quite quickly. He's been watching me over the past few months and has been encouraged by the weight I've lost. He weighs just a bit more than I do, so he also has quite a bit to lose (but obviously not as much as I do). Unfortunately, he doesn't have internet access at home, so he's without this wonderful resource.

I actually thought of you I was I was getting into bed last night...at 12:45am. :o I didn't get home from grocery shopping until almost 10, and then I was dealing with my daughter until almost 11:30. By the time I took care of the things I wanted to (weren't exactly needs ), it was 12:30 before I headed upstairs. ::sigh::

I just finished reading it a bit ago. Thank you for posting it, Mitra. :) I think I might be blogging about that, as well as sending the link to a few friends.

I want to chime in also, Mitra-- I already emailed to two (my son as well as a friend who seems very interested) and I printed off a copy of the article for my dd. Thanks for the link.

Ruth, hooray for you for influencing your friend to the lc woe. How cool to have folks notice, and then take an interest and join in. See what a great role model you are !! I just wonder how many of us do influence others --many that we don't even know about, just by faithfully doing what we are doing, day after day.

I am feeling better than I have in days and it feels good to feel good--know what I mean? I have just been dragging around, not really sick but feeling like my muscles were filled with glue and also no energy. Any way, up and at em today !!

I have managed to stay on plan , so no problems there. But I need to get back to the resistance and plan to call my friend and see if she wants to go into town later today.

Will check in later.

Karole, I'm glad you're feeling truly *good* today!

My body seems to be a barometer. I could hardly hobble yesterday and today I'm walking normally. Even my arms, wrists and fingers ached until I headed for the ibuprofen. We're going to have a dramatic weather change this evening. If they hadn't told me, I'd have known it anyway!

Everyone I've talked to is gearing up for a snow (ice) day tomorrow. Today I was surprised to hear of all the closings in neighboring counties, but not a word about mine. I guess the country roads are glazed over where the rain didn't take all the snow away.

Breakfast was a ginger-mango shake; lunch was a bowl of vegetable beef soup from the cafeteria. I'll need a snack in about four hours to give me some pep for the ride home. I'll stop by the meat market on my way.

Ruth and Tresses, I thought of you as I headed up the stairs at midnight. I generally shoot for eleven and I rarely make it.

That's a very well-written article, Janet. Thank you for the link.

I'm glad you're enjoying the article :).

Lunch turned out to be mortadella, dill pickle and herby mustardy cream cheese, followed by espresso and a small almond wafer. So far for the day I've had about 2/3 of my protein and 17g carb. We're eating out tonight, so numbers for the rest of the day will be my best estimate.

It is snowing sideways here in KC. Absurdly high winds have dropped the temp about 20 degrees over the last 3 hours, and the snow is whipping from right to left. On my personal clock, it's blowing about about a quarter to 9. Really something to look at.

Gave my presentation today. I hate presenting to small groups and I hate making mostly content free presentations, but such is the lot in life. The regional administrator and the HR guy from Chicago are looking to hire some people, and they came down to give me a look see, so, presentation on what I've been working on.

I woke up hot and hungry. Naturally, I forgot my shake. Hunger died down, and I managed, despite little sleep, to pass on a caffeinated or brown soda. I said to my supervisor, it's a withdrawl strategy from soda. No browns and no caffeine. I said it's going about as well as withdrawl from Iraq is going. We had a giggle. Had some eggs with cheese and bacon for breakfast. It'll do.

I'm with you on the aches and pains, Carol. I can always predict the weather based on how my hands and feet feel (especially my fingers). The Advil came out this morning, and I'm slowly feeling better.

Ick and yuk on the weather everyone is having . We are in for it later today if the weatherman is correct. I think we may get what Max is experiencing right now. Wow. Really don't want it.:eek:

But for the present, it is great. My friend wanted to walk in this nice weather and do the resistance tomorrow when it is frigid. Made sense so we walked for over a mile and I feel great still. Dh is playing golf as he wanted to get out there while it was so nice. It is really windy tho, so he may have a harder time of it than he thought.

See all later.

Good afternoon,

I woke up early (7:40) this morning for a dentist appt. which I canceled b/c I had a slight sore throat. Sucked on a Chloraseptic and feel better. I hate getting up early b/c I feel like I will need a nap most of the day. I am typing bills and estimates. I intend to practice my tap routine later in the day as this is my off day for resistance. Have to go vote today too.

I had a protein shake for breakfast w/ my new light cran-grape juice ice cubes. Lunch is cheddar broccoli soup and a few slices of Blazin' Buffalo Chicken. Dinner will be out with friends. This place has the best salad dressing and I hope it will be ok for lc.

I enjoyed Mitra's link to the Gary Taubes article and e-mailed it to my mom. I am now searching for his book on B&N. I am also visiting the netrition site. I didn't know what Davinci syrup was so when a recipe called for it, I just substituted SF syrup and that's mostly what I tasted in my recipe. I am also interested in looking up Ketosis and the "symptoms". Some things in my body are rumbling and I want to know if that's what it is.

Have a good day everyone!

Kimmie, (or anyone else reading the link) don't forget that the article talks about the UK edition of Taubes's book, called "The Diet Delusion." In the US the title is "Good Calories, Bad Calories."

Yes, I found that out. I had to laugh at the review from the sceptical reviewer at B&N.

Just a quick check in. It gets so QUIET here in the afternoons.

My job is slow again...not for too long, but long enough that I am enjoying the break. If only time would move a bit faster....

I miss playing Donkey Kong and have been searching for it online...I have a PS2 and a GameBoy handheld, but can't seem to find it. This is how I'm spending my afternoon!;)

Anyway...breakfast, lunch, and snack have been consumed. I ate my snack MUCH sooner than I wanted, but I was hungry.
If I can't wait until supper, I'll either eat more almonds, or have some pepperoni.

Golly, you ARE slow! That would drive me crazy. :paranoid:

We're expecting a snow day tomorrow. If that happens, I hope they officially close the building or I'll have to go in two hours late. It sounds like Max's windy weather. Temp down to 10F by morning with a wind chill of -15F. Salt that melts the road ice doesn't work in those temps, either.

DH and DS went to the grocery store and stocked up on what THEY like, bless their hearts! I will stop at the butcher on the way home and get the meat I like. :D I imagine I have a hefty stack of Little Debbies in my pantry, but at least I don't have to walk the aisles.

It's pouring right now and 40F outside. Wierd weather! It's gonna be bad when that freezes!

Going out to dinner soon, hope I can find something!

My last job I had NOTHING to do on the accounting-off season, so I MASTERED Spider Solitare!!

Okay..I am having a FOOD day.
I just added 2 servings of turkey pepperoni, and have assumed I'll have some cheese and crackers tonight at some point.

I am with you there Amy! My son says I have an indentation in my seat from sitting at my computer. I can't go a day, sometimes a few hours without playing at least a few games. When I do payroll, I play games while my checks are printing!:o

hi everyone!

doing good eating. Got my stairs in.

Feeling horrible, though. I've been dizzy much of the day. I had the ear infection 2 weeks ago... don't know if it's connected. Other than this last ear infection, where I went to the doc with swollen glands and a right ear ache, all my other ear infections were discovered when I went to the doc for something else.

It's not the same as getting dizzy in preparation to fainting ... been there, done that. It's more like feeling like I've been drinking and I haven't. If it hasn't gone away by tomorrow, back to the doctor I go.

Agnes, I can get that during allergy season and I've come to the conclusion that everything settles in my ears. I've got exercises to open the tubes and I take Musinex whenever I start to get dizzy. I usually find out when I'm washing my hair in the shower with my eyes closed. ;)

I had breakfast meatloaf for dinner tonight. I may have some berries and cream later.

Just finished setting up a jam for Saturday afternoon. My friend the fiddler heard about my friend the banjo player and wants to meet him. Sounds like a good time, especially if we can get a bass player.

Watching the weather. It's changing. Good-bye dry roads! Amy, do you actually have -4?

Using my best guess about the numbers for dinner at the restaurant, I did fine on the protein, and just about managed not to go over 40g carb for the day.

For dinner I had chicken liver parfait (ate a little of the accompanying pear chutney, all of the salad and none of the brioche); duck breast with Mediterranean vegetables (a kind of ratatouille, with some chick peas - I didn't eat the chick peas, though I would have had some normally for maintenance, just not when I'm trying to lose a few pounds). I had a glass of red wine, and skipped the puddings.

Feeling more stable now - definitely think it is my ears. I'm more conjested than I've been.

We had dinner out - I had a small eggplant rollatini appetizer and a T-bone for dinner. The steak was so big, I took half of it home for lunch today.
